Hotel holiday rentals in Lake Kivu

Such a wonderful place to stay with a very beautiful and peaceful outdoor space. The team is great, they organised a 2 day trip to see the Gorillas. The cooks are very good and friendly, different options of breakfast every morning. The area is very nice with amazing views of Kigali and also great for hikes. Looking forward to return.

Joel is a great host ! He was in constant communication with us and picked us up so late and so close to the curfew , my friend and I appreciated his thoughtfulness. He also made sure we had a hot meal on arrival ! The staff at his Airbnb are super nice and it made our stay comfortable. Great location as well !

What a surprise!! This lovely country retreat just outside Kigali is superb. Each room is beautifully equipped and tastefully decorated. The covered area for meals and relaxing is nicely designed and very comfortable. Joscelyn made us very welcome with a marvelous French dinner and warm conversation. We took in a short walk in the local countryside. The approach road of 500m is a bit rough but worth the journey. Highly recommended.

The Ubumwe Hotel met all of our needs and was located in a nice secluded area near the border with the DRC. The balcony view provided beautiful views of Lake Kivu just a few hundred meters from the hotel. Excellent experience!

Other than the Wi-Fi signal in the room is not good

Spent 5 days there and the staff were very friendly and came to my help whenever I had an issue. Would surely recommend this place to my friends 🤩

The Manor Hotel , does need some renovations however if you able to oversee that...you will have 1 of the best experience in terms of hotel in Kigali. The staff is excellent , the gym is huge with alot equipment. The pool is big and clean. The room we had was huge with a nice and private balcony with a beautiful view. The food was always delicious ! Thank you Saeed for this experience. I defenetly recommend this place to anyone!

The Hills View Hotel is a very pleasant hotel near the shore of Kivu lake. Its nice swimming pool in the beautiful garden is perfect for swimming and chilling. Since our shower room had an issue, we immediately got an upgrade to a room with lake and pool view. All the staff, director and managers of the hotel are so friendly and helpful, they really treated us like VIPs and invited us even to their staff party. After 2 days we felt like being part of the big family. We had such a good time that we even decided to stay 2 more nights. I can only recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to visit Gisenyi and spend some relaxing days in an affordable hotel.

We went to Nkuringo for the gorillas and wanted to look for a midrange to budget place. As a frequent traveler, we learned not to book places without reviews since it usually ends up being really bad, or worse, a scam. We were apprehensive initially to book 7 Volcanoes due to the lack of reviews, but we risked it cos it was the only one around and near the gorilla trekking trailhead that is within our budget. I started contacting Ndahiriwe and Vita (I don’t think I got his name right but the manager) and they were always very responsive and quick to assist. We expected the worst so when our car from Kisoro entered the gate and the personnel welcomed us, we were shocked. It was a really nice welcome from everyone and made us feel good immediately (despite the fact that there were ebola deaths in Western Uganda when we went). They led us to a room and our jaw dropped! Totally not as we expected. One of the rare times when the reality is so much better than advertised. We got a fantastic and very clean room with a great view of the promised 7 volcanoes. They even served welcome drinks and really made us feel at ease and relaxed after the bumpy ride from Kisoro. The room was decorated nicely with NEW furniture. Even beddings and mosquito nets were new. Everything was new, and that’s when we realized why there aren’t reviews yet (they were just 5months old and coming in their first high season) and why we wanted to write this review. We did the gorilla trekking the next day, and the staff even went out of their way to take our muddy dirty hiking shoes and wash them for us. The other staff was also very thoughtful and will provide warm water to warm us through the night. It was such a splendid stay and we would’ve wanted to stay longer. I usually don’t write long reviews but I really think this one deserves to be given attention. The value for money is off the roof - we paid 1/3 of what the other fancy lodges around paid for. The lodge has a fantastic location, around 700m from the trailhead so you can just walk. If there were drawbacks: - We weren’t informed beforehand about the cost of food. It was a bit on the expensive side for us compared to what we had during our Uganda trip. But we fixed it immediately as we learned we can just coordinate and negotiate with the (very nice) staff and tell him our food budget and he will work around it. - Maybe because it is a hotel, but the car service for pick up was expensive so you might be better off looking for your own private car, or negotiate. But overall, such a superior stay and we wish we could’ve stayed longer!! Thanks again to all the staff. We will always remember our stay in Nkuringo, not just because of the amazing gorillas, but also because of our stay here.

Responsive hosts. The staff are competent and enthusiastic, Manzi was great!! Clean place and very well located.

A nice find on the shores of lake Kivu. Wonderful well appointed boutique eco lodge with stunning lake views and very warm and helpful staff. One can completely do nothing and rest and enjoy the view, or alternatively indulge in activities which are on offer. There are also lots of walking trails through the surrounding area that make for an enjoyable experience. We would have liked to spend a bit more time, as the area is lovely and so I look forward to returning at some point in the future when we can do so.
