Flat in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto

B3 [201] Within walking distance of downtown, renovated 50-year-old apartment, close to tourist attractions such as Aso Takachiho!

LucasRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The place was great, it looks a little older from the outside but inside everything is made new. Everything you need is there and the apartment has plenty of space, one of the best Airbnbs I have visited in Japan so far. The location is also very good, Kumamoto station is a 15-20 minute walk. I highly recommend it.

It is a small one-story house on a small hill overlooking the sunset over the sea

Lovely location, very peaceful. House was as described, well equipped and comfortable. Used it as a one night stop over but could happily have stayed longer. Unfortunately the weather didn’t play ball so we didn’t get to see the sunset, but in the morning we were able to go for a lovely walk along the coast road.

I used it at a girls' club. They prepared futons for the number of people in the hall, which was very helpful. The rooftop barbecue is charming. It was still hot at 15 o'clock and I couldn't get out, but thanks to the mountain, I was able to spend a relaxing time on the rooftop. The rooftop is on the 4th floor, so I wondered if the stairs up and down would be strict with age... I think you did 10 round trips lightly. I had a great muscle ache the next day. (Laughter) There was also shampoo, but I think it would have been nice to have it in a bottle instead of once. I wanted to take a bath in the morning... In total, it is an inn I want to go to again. Thank you!

House in Zaziji (Zazu Housezann)

LinnRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Good spot in this known town. It is a pitoresk village where nothing happens. The locals do their very best to make the town welcoming. Restaurant only by reservation. The kitchen scarsly equipped and no stores..so bring your own. If the weather is nice you can go for a swim.. we had cold cloudy weather.

We were looking for a peaceful stay in the mountains and that's exactly what we got here! Keep in mind that this is a traditional Japanese house in a relatively remote area, so you need adjust your expectations according to this, including needing a car to get around. We opted for eating out for lunch as there were more and closer options open during the day, and we cooked our dinners using fresh and local ingredients from the closest big supermarket. The bookcase is full of interesting books if you can read Japanese and some have interesting illustrations even if you don't speak Japanese. Hana is so sweet, she gave us a bunch of recommendations for the nearest Onsens and she even dropped off a very delicious homemade dessert one night.
