Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Hardin County

So, needless to say the property is in the center of the middle of nowhere, but it is absolutely perfect to get away with some peace and quiet. We loved it and you will too. We would definitely stay again.

What a beautiful space! We had a great stay. The kids got to fish, the doggie got to swim and we all played bags. This was the perfect location for our summer kick off. We hiked Mil Branch Trail and Gardens of the gods. The drive to both weren't terrible from the cabin. We'd definitely stay again.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Mansion! Tony and his wife were very attentive to our needs and we were very comfortable during our stay. The mansion and interior decor are fascinating and create a unique and timeless environment; I really felt I had gone back in time many decades; this was such a welcome respite from my life in California. We will certainly always try and book the Mansion for our annual trips to Southern Illinois. I highly recommend the property.

kyle was a great host. my wife forgot her iPad and we had no issues going back to get it even after check out hours. Kyle has an amazing place perfect for relaxing and great fishing. will definitely will be back.

Words cannot express how beautiful this place is! Complete peace and solitude, surrounded by nature. I came for rest and relaxation and got it! Home was clean and did not lack anything, plenty amenities. Perfect location to catch breathtaking sunrises and sunsets! Paula was always quick to help out and very communicative! She was very kind, patient, and friendly, thank you Paula! Definitely want to stay again.

This is a very special place! It is a remarkable home in a beautiful place. It's a small town but some good shops all within walking distance.

Alice's airbnb was very private and peaceful. I enjoyed seeing her animals, especially our sweet visit at the door by one of the roosters. The space was just big enough for my husband and I with our dog Toby. The place was very clean and the bed so comfortable. She's in a great location for you to see what all the Shawnee National Forest has to offer and so much more homey than a cabin. Some of my favorite areas to visit were the Garden of the Gods, Cave in Rock, Burden Falls, Iron Furnace, Dixon Springs, Chocolate Factory, and Garden of the Gods Outpost store had anything you could want. These are just a fraction of what there is to see in the area. We were able to see a lot. Brochures available were helpful. Favorite restaurant there is Shotgun Eddys. Great tasting food and big portions. The breakfast is the best as well as the fried fish. They have a bloody mary that's a meal in itself. I had the pleasure of meeting Alice and hope I get the chance to stay at her place again.

Place was great, very clean!

We loved our stay here, more spacious than it looks on the outside. Hot tub worked great, firepit was stocked and the inside was pristine. The host is very communicative and helpful, the little shop right next door has great ice cream! Only a couple mins from Garden of the Gods’ Indian Point & Observation Trail.

Exactly what we were looking for! The house was perfect for a get away weekend. It was so peaceful. We loved the hot tub and the beds were comfortable. Elizabeth was a great host always responsive!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cave in rock and Southern Illinois area while staying at Justin place right on the river. The kids were so excited and we enjoyed the view watching barges go by and the beauty of the Ohio River. We also had easy access to other scenic locations nearby.

Very nice family and farm animals! My husband and I had a fantastic time hiking through Shawnee national Forest on our trip. I wish we could have participated in some of the extra accommodations. I would have loved the horseback tour unfortunately we didn't have any time after hiking all day. I recommend reading some of the books they have in the cabin. It talks about their life and what they do for work. Excellent stay, would definitely recommend to family and friends too

This was our first return to Shawnee National Forest after honeymooning there sixty years ago. Stephanie's place is at the other end of the spectrum from the ram-shackle cabin where we stayed in 1965. Her place is immaculate, up-to-date, and well-appointed. And being so close the the Ohio river and the E'town River Restaurant was really nice. During our three-day stay, we visited Cave-In-Rock, crossed on the ferry to Kentucky for some Amish goods shopping, fished at Pounds Hollow Lake, and spent a morning at Garden of the Gods. Next time we go to the Elizabethtown area, this will be the place we stay. We loved the whole adventure! Duane & Jane Parks

We had a great stay! Everything was as described. We loved sitting outside around the fire pit and using the grill to cook dinners. It was also a great home base location for the short hikes we wanted to go on.

Shawnee Forest Cabins were a great place to stay after hiking the area all day. The cabin was cozy, easy to find, and very clean upon our arrival. The hosts were very friendly and ensured we had everything we needed during our stay. If you utilize the hot tub, make sure you look up and appreciate all the stars!!!

Steve and Debbie were great hosts! We loved our get away to their place. The local recommendations were amazing and the hot tub was just what we needed at the end of our long day of hiking. The wine tasting was a great experience and the fresh eggs were our breakfast both mornings. We also loved that we could bring our dogs. 10/10 will recommend!
