Great house, so roomy perfect place for two families to enjoy a weekend retreat or however long you want. Child friendly, clean and very well equipped. And lastly have to mention the location!!! So quite amazing surroundings. 2 min walk to a really nice beach. We had great success surf casting. And it was so nice lying in bed being able to hear the waves crashing. Jan is wonderful host as well. Was always available when we had questions.

Sally's place was perfect for us.. The home was comfortable, clean and warm.. Kitchen was good to have with all the amenities.... The hot tub was Gold.. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains from the home and lots of forest walking/ mtn biking trails close by.. Lake Hawea close by was really nice too.. Sally was helpful with any questions we had including recomending the best route for us to drive up there from Queenstown which was an unreal scenic easy drive to get to the home.. We'd definatley go back and would highly recommend to anyone else considering a stay here...

We had a fantastic stay! The cottage is incredibly well-equipped, and we especially loved the fireplace, which made the evenings warm and cozy. The view is absolutely stunning, probably one of the best lakefront locations on Lake Hawea. The hosts were also very responsive and friendly, always quick to help with any questions. We would love to come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort and amazing scenery!

Weather was rather cold at franz Josef when we were there - would have been great if the bed rooms and toilet had some form of heater. Lovely stay, enjoyed the sauna and the views of the mountains. Kristy was a lovely host and even had a scrapbook of her family and their involvement and influence in the town which was really interesting context and made us feel like we knew our hosts a little better. We were sad we only stayed one night but it was a great launch point for our hike through the Copeland Valley the following day. The place is also close to the Fox Glacier viewpoint, so we were able to sneak that in before our big day of hiking. If you have time, we also heard the helicopter tours and helicopter-hikes were also fabulous in the area.
