Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Gond-Pontouvre

This is a beautiful place to stay on the banks of the Charente which we enjoyed from the canoe but just loved seeing it flowing along edging the grounds. We came on the train which is a very easy journey from Paris to Jarnac. It is then less than an hours walk along the cycle path or quicker along the very quiet road. The market in Jarnac is excellent and there’s some nice cafes and bars. In Bourg Charente itself the bar tabac sells morning baguette and croissants, especially good to put an order in the day before. Also in the village La Ribaudiere restaurant was absolutely amazing and an experience not to be missed. So this is a great place to stay if you are car free like us but bicycles really help too especially with direct access to the 400 km path La Flow Velo. Lots of fun! Thanks to Andrea and Dominic.

A beautiful, well equipped little gîte, with everything you could possibly need. The garden is so peaceful, and within a few minutes drive of les lacs de Haute Charente, which are ideal for dog walking. We loved meeting Harry the resident dog. Thank you to Anneguus and Dirk, for being so welcoming. I hope to return some day.

We had a great time with the family. We took full advantage of the huge and peaceful garden. The cottage has an authentic charm and is also very functional and modern. Hiking trails are easily accessible, and children were able to see sheep and other animals in the nearby fields. Communication with the host Isabelle was also very good, very responsive by message or phone. We really appreciated the flexibility on arrival and departure times. in short, we highly recommend it, the stay was perfect.

We stayed in an enchanting setting. The house is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped with the feeling of being at home! The pool was clean and pleasant although in need of refreshing. We were able to enjoy a magnificent landscape and a view of the vineyards with direct access to the promenade. Practical enclosed land with a dog.

A gem of a place ! It is not easy to find places in the region that are not exorbitantly expensive or furnished from grandma's leftovers; this hits a perfect note with a mixture of stylish antiques and comfort, everything has been thought of down to the Savon de Marseille in the bathrooms! Clearly lots of love has been poured into the house and it shows, from a well stocked larder with everyday essentials (including coffee pods for the machine) to the lovely welcome hamper. The garden at the back overlooking the old monastery is perfect and very secluded and even though it was only April I managed to eat outside each morning and evening (there are 3 other terraces too). The host is on hand easily for tips on where to eat or visit if needed. Tusson is a great village with a good places to eat including the wonderful Gateaux for amazing cakes.

The cottage is ideal for a group, perfectly equipped, very pleasant accommodation Very nice hospitality.

We had a very pleasant time in the outbuilding of Gisèle and her companion. The accommodation is very well equipped, the bedding is comfortable. The outside is very pleasant and the environment peaceful. I would highly recommend! Thanks again for everything.

Sophie is an amazing host! The cleanliness of the cottage is impeccable. the place is a real haven of peace, the decor is very neat and sublime. (bouquets of fresh roses, dried petals, small welcome gift) Not to mention all the options that this property has. (Jacuzzi nearby, swimming pool, massage, bedroom and bathroom with every comfort) everything is subtly thought out. As soon as we walk through the door , we enter a refined, atypical world. Very nice apartment , tastefully decorated in the center of the village , all the services are nearby . restaurants " la Tuscan" on the doorstep , and a little further "with whims" warm welcome and tasty dishes. Good accommodation.

Had a fantastic week at this beautiful gite. It's so peaceful, private and a perfect place to relax and unwind. It has been renovated to a very high standard and is absolutely spotless, comfortable and well equipped. We felt right at home here. We very much enjoyed the pool and the log burner (on a couple of chilly nights) and the ability to log into our Netflix account. The surrounding area is very beautiful, with lots of stunning villages and castles to visit. Anemone is a great host and really helpful and friendly. All in all, we could not have had a more perfect week and would definitely return.

Very good stay in this beautiful and AUTHENTIC family home with undeniable charm. We were 4 adults and 2 children 3/4 years old: the children loved playing in the sandpit/bocce court in the garden and the educational farm nearby, we adults we loved the large friendly kitchen and the masterful bathroom with views of the countryside. Small bonus for dishes: what a pleasure to eat on cute vintage plates! The house is very old, so it was a little wet when we arrived (no surprise given the season) but once the fireplace started and the house ventilated, everything was normal. We had a fantastic time here! The house is beautiful, large, clean and well equipped. The host and hostess are super friendly and helpful. They have a very discreet presence on site. The view is truly breathtaking, the area is quiet. You can walk to the village for a bakery and shop. We highly recommend this stay!!

The setting is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers. The local town is 10 mins away, with a market. The property is a lovely old farmhouse, with lots of space and nice furniture, comfortable beds and a refreshing pool. Valerie made us feel very welcomed. A great place to unwind.
