Near the cabin there is nice and child-friendly hiking terrain both summer and winter with short road alpine facilities and prepared ski tracks in the winter. Valdre's alpine ski area is about 3 mins. drive from the cabin, it is also possible to walk + run to / from the alpine ski resort.
