Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Basel City

From the minute I arrived at the gates of this majestic mansion, I felt at peace. The host, Marc, is a fascinating and kind renaissance man, who graciously welcomed me into his historic home. My suite was once occupied by the famous writer, Hermann Hesse which is what first attracted me to this listing. It is charming with high ceilings and spacious rooms, which are decorated with lovely antiques. The view from the suite of the grand and elegant Wenkenhof Villa and manicured French gardens. The area is surrounded with parks and forest, but an easy walk or ride to the village of Riehen. Riehen is a storybook area with fine shops and cafes. Public transportation is readily available to commute to the city of Basel; a guest is provided with a complementary pass. The B&B manager, Dorette, was so efficient and helpful from the start and throughout the stay. This will always be one of my favorite stays, and for that I am grateful.

Oleg’s place is soo central to Basel. It’s perfect for what we needed. It’s close to the train stations and old city/city centre. They were also very kind to allow us to check in late. The standout for me is their lovely garden where you can have a peaceful and quiet time. Thank you again!

Agréable séjour dans ce spacieux studio duplex tout équipé situé dans un agréable quartier résidentiel, près du Rhin. Le vaste espace à disposition et le calme étaient particulièrement apprécié avec les enfants. Merci à Leonore et Bea l’accueil et la réactivité!

Very nice, cozy apartment at a ideal location - very quite yet with a direct connection to the Messe. You get everything you need in the house and can enjoy the shunshine or evening breeze on the balcony. It's a shame that we didn't meet Jinhee in person, but Tom was also such a nice and warm-hearted host! Always patient for every question and request. Many thanks!

A lovely place to stay. It was especially nice to have the outdoor space. Cely was a brilliant host. I sometimes thought she sent too many messages but, the free tram pass, instructions on how to find the house and her welcome were all great.

Nous étions un groupe de 8 personnes et avons passé un très bon séjour dans la maison. Elle présente un grand séjour avec et une très belle vue. Daniel était disponible et réactif par messages. Il nous a proposés des cartes de transport gratuites pour chaque invité nous permettant de visiter la belle ville, accessible facilement en tram.

Beautiful house beyond what pictures can describe with great designs and taste. Guylaine is SUPER helpful and communicative. I will definitely stay again when I’m in Basel!

La communication et l'accueil (présentiel ce que nous apprécions) ont été excellents. Roberto est très sympathique et particulièrement serviable avec d'agréables attentions. Le logement est spacieux (nous étions 5 avec un chien), très bien distribué, très propre et très bien équipé. Le jardin n'est pas très grand mais charmant, avec une véranda exposée au sud, très accessible et ensoleillée. Le quartier est tranquille et la ville est très accessible à pieds ou en transport, comme le quartier du "Messe". Vraiment un excellent choix pour nous, A recommander chaleureusement !

Great location, easy to get around. The apartment was a good size for the two of us, although the bathroom was small. Enjoyed our stay.

I stayed in Ilaria’s apartment for the third year in a row. The location is perfect—especially in the summer, as it’s just a few minutes' walk to the Rhine for a swim. The area feels very safe and has plenty of great places to eat nearby. Communication with Ilaria is always excellent. Once again, I had a great stay!

Wir haben die Art Basel besucht. Coco‘s Wohnung lag in perfekter Nähe in einem angenehmen, ruhigen Viertel. In Laufnähe gab es schöne kleine Restaurants, Läden und den Rhein. Alles was das Herz begehrt. Auch die Altstadt war super bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen.

This was a very nice Airbnb to stay in. It was decorated beautifully in a scandi style. Very calming and relaxing. We have stayed in a lot of airbnbs and it’s rare to find an owner that has thought of everything. She communicated well and was friendly. Check in and out was easy with key safe. Was nice to have space to sit outside. Again it’s rare to find such a quiet apartment which meant that we slept very well! Location felt more residential. It would have been nicer to have been located closer to the main centre but the trams were that quick and only over the road that we didn’t mind so much. Only a few minutes into the centre. A quick trip via an uber to the airport also.

Beautiful place to stay with lots of attention to details. The neighbourhood is quiet, the old town nearby and nice places around the corner for breakfast. Rahel replied to questions quickly and generously agreed to a late check out. I would recommend this place anytime.

Schöne, saubere Wohnung in einem ruhigen und kinderfreundlichen Quartier. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, guter Beck und Tram in drei Minuten zu Fuss erreichbar. Toller Spielplatz und Badestrand auch ums Eck. Am besten gefiel uns der kleine Balkon mit Blick auf den Rhein, jeden Abend Sonnenuntergang genossen. Auch von den Fenstern kann man das Treiben auf dem Fluss schön beobachten. Wer nicht gut zu Fuss ist, erreicht den vierten Stock wohl eher mühevoll, dies aber der einzige Negativpunkt. Aber wer oben ist, wird belohnt :)

I loved staying at Barbara's spacious, sun-filled apartment. She was a gracious and helpful host. This place is a gem. I especially loved the neighborhood, which is tranquil and cool, with one of Basel's finest gelato places just around the corner.

Great apartment close to transit & a few good restaurants. The apartment was nice, clean, & comfortable. The bed was also quite comfortable. There was plenty of space for clothing from 2 large suitcases. Having an elevator & outside blackout blinds on all windows were great!

We had a wonderful time at the charming apartment in Kleinbasel. Everything was spotless and they even had some milk for coffee and a small breakfast in stock. The coffee tasted fabulous and the backside garden was so peaceful. The location was great and we can totally recommend the place

Inge is a great host. She made sure we knew how to get to her apartment and printed Baselcard transit passes for us. The first floor apartment is located in a quiet and lovely neighborhood and has good WiFi, all amenities needed for a comfortable stay, and access to a pleasant back yard. Inge even provided milk, bread, eggs and fruit for our stay. We would be happy to stay here again on future trips.

We had a great time in Basel and Ivan’s apartment was perfect for our needs. Close to the city centre and comfortably accommodated 6 people. I would recommend it as a great place to stay for a visit to Basel.

Absolutely lovely place. Really cosy small studio, was easy to find and get to. Was quite toasty given the time of year but the fan in the room worked wonders keeping us cool. Couldn’t fault it at all. Location was quiet and private but wasn’t too far from restaurants and cafes. So for me atleast was a perfect location. Thankyou Goran for a wonderful stay.

Sehr saubere und schöne Wohnung, Bad großzügig und Küche mit allem, was man braucht. Im großen Bett haben wir super geschlafen. Großer Balkon nach hinten raus. Uns fehlte ein zweiter gemütlicher Korbstuhl und ein etwas größerer Tisch auf dem Balkon. War bei unserem schönen Aufenthalt aber zu verkraften. Die Lage ist ideal, um Basel zu entdecken, zur Bahnhaltestelle sind es nur ein paar Minuten, die Gegend ist ruhig und sehr angenehm. Die Wohnung liegt im dritten Stock, ist für unsere ältere Generation schon eine Herausforderung. Der Kontakt mit Livio und Jana verlief schnell, freundlich und problemlos. Wir empfehlen die Wohnung gerne weiter!

El apartamento es acorde con la descripción, todo perfecto y la comunicación con Daniel ha sido excelente, siempre disponible, trato muy amable y cordial. El apartamento esta en una zona residencial muy tranquila y bonita. Recomiendo 100% los alojamientos que ofrece Daniel ya que es perfecto para quien viene a visitar Basilea y sus alrededores. ☺️
