Creating memories with adult children who are living their own lives can be hard to schedule. We found the perfect opportunity for a quick weekend getaway hosted by Leif. What we thought we were getting was a house big enough to host our group. What we got, was so much more! As soon as you walk into the space, you realize that the pictures you saw on the posting do not do justice to the real thing. You’re transported into another era where life slows down and you realize the simplest of things are the really important things: like family. My children especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet Leif’s animals and feed them rinds and banana peels. Peanut was the star of the show ( if you know, you know). Thank you, Leif, for a beautiful weekend that provided a much needed respite, but offered so much more than we were expecting. We can’t wait to come back and make this a family tradition though next time we will stay longer and be more prepared with our animal food supplies : )

Always a great stay. Thanks for turning on the air conditioner before we arrived. Understandably, the spa has a lot of chemicals in it, but as one point the smell made me dizzy. Beautiful water feature!

Last minute getaway. It was so peaceful, and relaxing. My friends and I spent most of our time in the cabin to make the most out of our stay here. We saw 3 deers in the area, and we checked out downtown, which was close by. The hosts were very kind as well. Overall, comfy and beautiful place.

Had the most amazing stay with my pups to get away from the city. They got to run around and be free while we enjoyed the hot tub. The aesthetics of the place were 10/10. Used the wood burning stove religiously as it was a bit chilly, which made the stay so cozy. Grass valley is a really really cute town too. The perfect private quiet getaway.

We had a great time at this cozy cabin. We were in town for my nephews graduation and had family come from 3 different states. Everyone thought the cabin was beautiful, cozy, and in a great location. The kids absolutely loved the hot tub, while us adults took advantage of the back porch and beautiful surroundings. Nicholas was communicative and so nice, especially when we had to come back to find our mom's ring. I would totally book this place again!!!

This place was as described! Very relaxing getaway! He is a responsive host, which was helpful. Super clear instructions and would not hesitate to come back again in the future. It was a nice getaway, close to some fun bilking trails and good eatery spots in town!

You won’t find a better value, a more charming historic cabin, or a more thoughtful host near Truckee and Lake Tahoe. It was a one-of-a-kind stay we’re really glad we experienced.

My friends and I had a wonderful time! The cabin was beautiful, private, and had an awesome view. The house was clean and very similar to the photos provided. We enjoyed the bath tub and relaxed on the deck! Definitely recommend this place. Ryan was very responsive and friendly!

We had a great stay! The cabin was very clean and thoughtfully designed with lots of details that make it feel like a high-quality retreat, especially for families. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked—much better than most rentals—and made cooking easy and enjoyable. The cabin stayed warm overnight even without turning on the heat, and the WiFi was reliable enough for a work video call. Beds and mattresses were comfortable, and there were plenty of towels and blankets for everyone. One thing to note for families with young kids: I wouldn’t recommend it for toddlers, as the stairs are steep and the heater is floor-mounted. Fortunately, our child was old enough for it not to be an issue. A small tip: the melamine plates are very cute, but not microwave-safe—learned that the hard way! Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The cabin was quaint, cozy and brought us back to childhood memories. We enjoyed burning the wood stove in the evenings and watching VHS movies- such a fun touch! We felt super close to Truckee- only 15 mins down the highway, and what a beautiful drive. We ultimately loved our stay and are grateful for these new memories! We will definitely be back!

This cabin was so lovely, peaceful and clean. Timothy is lovely as well, quick to respond, thoughtful and very accommodating for myself and my dog gratefully. We love this area so much already, so peaceful and beautiful. We would definitely love to stay here again. Very grateful to the host.

The Black House was the perfect mountain getaway for us and our dog! The fenced in yard was lovely, with a festive fire pit in the middle lit up with lights. The house was tastefully decorated and well appointed with all the amenities we could ask for. Such a comfortable and scenic spot!

awesome little place very quiet and felt like you were in the middle of nowhere even though your 2 minutes from town. would 100% stay again in the future.

The communication with Thoung was very easy, she is very helpful! The cabin is cozy with a small fireplace. Downstairs has a queen bed, a separate bathroom, and a bunk bed. There is a strong smell downstairs, so it’s not ideal if you’re sensitive. The upstairs master bedroom is spacious. Very quiet location with a nice deck for eating outside.

Shannon’s place was lovely. Great space indoors and out for 4-6 people and our huskies. Beautiful redwoods in the yard and visits by turkey and deer. Close driving distance to restaurants. Shannon’s place is very well equipped with anything you would want or need for dining, sleeping and relaxing. I always appreciate a property that feels like someone’s home rather than a hotel. Shannon’s place was exactly that. Shannon is a very responsive, communicative and helpful host! I should add that there are great vineyards and the lovely Sly Park nearby that we weren’t able to explore because we were in the area for a graduation in El Dorado . The cabin was a great place to getaway. It is located in a neighborhood but the property is so large it feels like you have the woods to yourself. The cabin was cozy and had everything needed for my stay to be comfortable. The bed and linens, were amazing. My dog loved running the large fenced yard. It was a quick drive to the local hiking trails and downtown. I would absolutely stay here again. Wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful time at this adorable cabin. It was so cozy and perfect for a little family getting away. It made a huge difference for us that it was pet friendly and the hosts were so accommodating and friendly! We felt right at home! We look forward to going back again someday!

A Perfect Stay! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the seamless check-in process and Maria’s warm hospitality. The space was immaculate, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The location was ideal—peaceful yet conveniently close to local attractions like Jenkins lake. I especially appreciated the private location of the house, its views, and all the games there. Communication with Maria was prompt and helpful throughout my stay. She went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. I highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. I can’t wait to return!

We had a family get away here. We were able to cook our meals in the nice kitchen and with the BBQ, enjoyed our meal all gathered around the large dining table, including our grandson in a high chair (provided.) Plenty of room to play video games as a group upstairs, and then play pool and air hockey downstairs while listening to YouTube music. It made for a fun time all together. Geeta kept in communication and then helped me arrange to get my forgotten bag picked up! (Thank you, Geeta!!!) I highly recommend this home for a comfortable, fun time together as a group.

Absolute perfection! A quaint country cottage on shared acreage but you are welcome to enjoy/use the main house and grounds. Quiet, charming, nicely kept up with a very much appreciated gift basket, morning coffee and mini fridge in room. Loved the fire stove to keep the night chill out and add a romantic ambience. Will definitely return if ever in need of a stay in the area - can't recommend enough!

We had an amazing stay at this secluded property with stunning 360° views and a peaceful atmosphere. The drive in was beautiful, and the location was perfect—close to OHV trails, hiking, a reservoir, and shooting areas, yet tucked away on a quiet road with no noise. Shelli was a fantastic host, welcoming us personally and showing us around. Generator noise from nearby properties was minimal and didn't affect our stay. We only used ours once; the battery power lasted most of our 4-day visit. The property combines the peace of camping with home comforts like hot shower, kitchen, and clean bathroom. Our dogs loved the open space, though wildlife is around. Other things to note are lots of spiders and mosquitoes in May, and the water had a sulfur smell - but it made my hair super soft! Overall, a peaceful, comfortable getaway.

Perfect place if you're looking to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. Stunning views all over and a beautiful large deck to enjoy it all. Loved cozying up around the fire at night too.
