Aptly named “The View,” this is a delightful place with spectacular panoramic view overlooking Tromso city center, across the water, including the Arctic Cathedral, and up onto Tromsdalen. I could have sat staring out the windows for hours. We walked (two of us ran) the surrounding snow palace. We enjoyed trolls, the top of Tromsdalen, nearby islands, local cuisine, and exploring the city center and trails. Through it all, our hosts were wonderful - patiently and expertly helping with all manner of questions. A terrific, memorable travel experience. Will definitely seek out The View again when our travels bring us back to Tromso.

Very cozy place with very friendly hosts!

Nice bedroom in a very beautiful house at just 10 minutes by walk of the city center. The bed is good and warm. The communication with Ane Marie and her husband is excellent.

We look back on a wonderful stay at Gjertrud's on Sommaroy. The location has a beautiful view and is quietly located right on a beach. We could easily park the car and also charge electrically nearby. We have used the sauna in the nearby hotel, which is really only a sauna and no other facilities. Breakfast was nice with Norwegian products and by Gjertrud homemade bread. We also used Gjertrud's dinner service once, she can cook well. The beds were a little narrow, which took some getting used to, but were wonderful and we slept well. We could control the temperature in the room ourselves with an electric heater, which went fine. When we stayed there, not all rooms were occupied, if that is the case, 1 bathroom in which the toilet is also in is difficult for me.

Unni was a very helpful and friendly hostess and gave us great tips for our journey to Berlevåg. The breakfast was tasty snd Unni took good care of us.

Everything about my stay was wonderful. Gjertrud is a friendly, attentive host who is knowledgeable about the area and cares about it and about her guests. She's a wonderful cook and not only is the view from the large living room windows stunning, but the view from her upper deck is probably one of the best views on the island, as you can see the water (and the mountains across the water) on both sides. I highly recommend a stay at Gjertrud's place!

Had a great time at Gjertrud's. The view from the living room is majestic. Dinner made with a local fish was great, the bedroom comfortable. We took a swim the next morning and then exchanged more together in his little cafe on the beach. I leave enriched with all my experiences at Gjertrud.

Had a fantastic stay. Lovely and warm host, beautiful and atmospheric house and garden. Great location, beautiful views and close to the stone age rock carvings. The breakfast served was tasty and cozy too 😁. would have loved to stay for longer and hope to visit again. can warmly recommend.

I really enjoyed Elins home, I stayed in two rooms (the single and the triple) both were lovely although I slightly preferred the triple, only because it was the only room and on the ground floor. The location is excellent, you literally get off the svipper bus and into Elins. It's about a 15 minute walk into the start of town / where the local market is. And about 25 minutes to the Maritim hotel where I did the orca tours. Elins home is warm and homey, with lots of cute knick knacks (and a cute cat) and Elin was super patient answering my 50+ questions about travel info (which can be a bit confusing as all the days are different, sometimes the ferry doesn't run etc (download the svipper app to get info and buy tickets). Thanks for a lovely stay Elin ❤️

My stay at Elin’s house was very good. Even though the Northern Troms region showed me its windy side and both, ferry and Hurtigrutten were cancelled two days in a row, Elin was always there—responding quickly and helping me with ferry and bus schedules. When I finally arrived in Skjervøy, I felt right at home. Traveling solo, it was really heartwarming that she spent time with me and engaged in friendly chats, giving me a glimpse of the real Troms. She even made waffles and treated me to her mother’s delicious fish cakes. Although the nordic weather wasn’t at all kind, Elin and Henry the cat certainly were.
