Beautifully restored old English theatre. If you're in London over Christmas, you should go see a pantomime here - it's an East End tradition!

A lovely museum showing the interiors of rooms over the centuries. It's free, very close by, and the walled garden is a joy in the summer months.

Places to eat

Breakfast is my favourite meal, and the Breakfast Club is one of the best places to eat. It's lively, has a great menu and does a wicked Bloody Mary.

A mixture of Turkish and Arabic influences, great for meat eaters and vegetarians, lots of good reviews, not the cheapest but apparently well worth it. Highly recommended by quite a few of my guests

Brilliant community garden. Lovely place to explore, completely non commercial although you can get a lovely cup of tea or glass of cider here. There's music some evenings in the Summer.

Sightseeing

I've included this bar in the Sightseeing section as it is so Olde World English - a 19th-century wine bar in candlelit, vaulted cellars with original Dickensian-style decor. Even if you don't drink alcohol, it's worth a look. Great cheese platters. Very busy on weeknights especially in the summer but less busy on the weekends.
