If you want to experience English high tea, then Fortnum and Mason is the place to go. Advise you book. It also has the most wonderful food hall. Tip - you have a direct tube to Leicester Square and then according to GMaps a 10 minute walk through Leicester Square itself - to F&M. Leicester Square is also home to quite a few shops selling cheap theatre tickets, sometimes cheaper than the London Ticket Booth by clock tower.

One of London's oldest ice-cream parlours, established in 1931! People from all over London visit and on balmy, summer days, there's often a queue.... but well worth the wait

Italian food with a twist near Oxford Street - wide range of pastas and pizzas in the style of McDonalds and KFC. Choose all your ingredients at the till and they assemble and cook your choices right in front of you. Great selection, fast and very tasty!!

A unique cinematic experience - enjoy a glass of wine with light snacks (not your usual popcorn and fizzy pop) in deluxe comfy seats. Small and intimate. There's another Everyman cinema at Hamptead, even more cosy. They often show different films so good to check. Sometimes Indie films. There's an IMAX screen at the Odeon at Swiss Cottage.

Hampstead theatre previews new plays, with many going on to the West End (London's Theatre Lane). It's one of my favourite walks from my home to the theatre in Swiss Cottage along Eton Avenue. All the original houses along that road were designed by the same Victorian architect. They are enormous red brick houses but each one is different and quite beautiful.
