Even just the drive into Palos Verdes is beautiful. It captures the feel of driving up the PCH to Big Sur, without having to go all that distance. PV has the big stunning cliffs, tide pools, and pristine blue-green waters. Try hiking Portuguese Bend (bring lots of water and sunscreen -- there isn't much shade), exploring Abalone Shoreline Park, or walking through Terranea Resort to their pretty public beach.

Bring lots of water and sunscreen (there is very little shade!). Lots of trails to choose from -- some which go all the way down to Abalone Cove Shoreline Park. The trail goes downhill, so save energy to come back up!
