Sightseeing

Broken Head has a walking track around the Headland, which has magnificent views of the coastline. Definitely worth a visit. It is a fairly easy walking track, which takes about 15 minutes each way.

The Byron Bay Lighthouse is at the most easterly point of Australia. There are magnificent views in all directions. Dolphins and whales [June to October] can be seen from the lighthouse and the walking track. The track is quite steep. If you are not fit its best to drive up. If you are fit, the walking track has some spectacular views. Tips: Take a hat, water and sunscreen and avoid walking in the middle of the day when its very hot. Visitors to Byron should not miss this, its the number 1 attraction.

Travelers should be very careful swimming in the ocean and should always swim between the flags at patrolled beaches where surf life savers are on duty. Byron Bay's main beach is patrolled and recommended as a safe place to swim.
What to pack

Book restaurants in advance to avoid disappointment

The best Byron restaurants are in high demand. Best to book in advance, especially if you are visiting on the weekend or school holidays. "The Balcony" is one the most popular and should be booked in advance.
