The park is a wonderful place to have a picnic or take the family for a walk. It is closely linked to the Waikato River and Memorial Park as well as the River Walk south toward Hamilton Gardens. A Children’s Garden has been developed at the park and was officially opened in early 2012. This amazing playscape incorporates a strong Kowhai theme through its equipment and includes a kowhai seed fountain, kowhai flower slide and kowhai leaf shaped viewing platform over the Waikato River. Other features include the redevelopment and extension of the water feature, interactive native bird sculptures and a small amphitheatre and playhouse. (Note: There is no cost for this attraction).
