The best fish and chips in the area. If you're looking for a grease hit, this is your place. If you feel like being fancy, you can eat in the restaurant, but they also nail the old butcher's paper take away like an old-school take-away shop

This late night offering is perfect if you feel like cake and cocktails. Popular with the hipsters and dessert lovers alike, but can be a little on the pricey side. They also do a fairly decent wood-fired pizza on Friday nights

This is definitely something you'll need a car for, but it is my all time favourite brunch spot. It's run by the cool dewds from The Grates, their coffee is on point, their menu is simple and delicious (try the ABC toastie - it's green apple, bacon and cheese. WHAT?! SO GOOD) and there's always awesome tunes being played. On weekends and some nights of the week the Red Robin Supper truck is operating in the beer garden. Check out their menu on instagram and die from happiness: https://www.instagram.com/redrobinsuppertruck/?hl=en

This delightful little brewery is just around the corner and a secret watering hole for the locals. Try out their craft ales (brewed on premises) and pair it with the fare of a rotating roster of food trucks or grab a squealer or growler to take away and sip it on our balcony while you watch the sun set over Teneriffe. I'm a particular fan of their kolsch. It's summery heaven in a schooner

Great local pub if you're looking for a steak dinner and beer. They do a pretty killer karaoke set on a Saturday night and awesome trivia on Monday and Tuesday nights. LQBTQI+ friendly (Pride after parties are usually held here) and there's often live music in the beer garden. The menu usually hits the spot

Parks & Nature

New Farm Park is a beautiful 15-minute stroll along the river away. The perfect place to go for a jog, read a book in the sun, or kick a ball around. On a sunny weekend every human in Brisbane is there and there's still plenty of space. Definitely an iconic neighbourhood hot spot.

On a hot day there's nothing more Brisbane than fighting for a space in the man-made lagoon in South Bank. The old Expo '88 site was transformed into a beautiful parkland with playgrounds and shopping. Great place for a stroll along the river

Getting Around

This is the best spot to catch a ferry or a bus. The city glider stops by every 10 minutes in peak time. If you're looking to pass time a ferry trip down the river is perfect (and cheap) way to see the city. Cruising under the story bridge at night is pretty magical.
