This hotel opened late in 2018 and has been listed in the Financial Times as one of THE hotels to visit in 2019. The hotel has been bought and renovated by a Swiss billionaire art dealer and his wife who lease Invercauld Estate. Care has been taken to involve the community and there is around 4 million pounds worth of art on display here in a truly eclectic, contemporary and exciting mix. Affordable bar menu in the flying stag bar , best to phone and book.

Lunch 2 course is currently (2019) £21 Dinner is standard city prices . Booking recommended. Since opening in 2016, the Rothesay Rooms has won North East of Scotland Restaurant of the Year Award 2017 and gained entry into the Michelin Guide.

This is a dog friendly cafe with wholesome, healthy and often organic produce. Log stove and mix of chairs and tables. Lots of vege and vegan specials and breakfast is served from 8:30 which is unusually early.

Walk around the loch, flat good path most of the way and about three hours OR do the big hill Lochnagar. Ensure someone knows you are going up and always take cold weather gear and food and phone . There are steep drops at the summit, dog owners beware.
