Food scene

NB WAS BEING RENOVATED LAST WEEK! Hopefully finished now. Lovely café and deli with cakes, pastries, sandwiches etc. Sit outside in the sunshine or inside when it’s cooler (decor is great here). Friendly service and great coffee. A local chain - there are a few scattered throughout Brighton and Hove.

Best pizza in town and it’s just at the end of the road! Eat in or get takeaway for the beach or to have at home (you can order online via their website to pickup and avoid the queues).

There is a little branch at the end of Wilbury Road (Small Batch is a Brighton chain - the coffee is roasted just to the west of Hove). Excellent coffee. Get a takeaway and wander down to the beach with it.

Romantic atmosphere, excellent seafood, right in The Laines. You’ll probably need to book at peak times. Perfect for an evening date! This is the original restaurant; there is another on the seafront near the Brighton Centre with views of the sea.

Walk down to the east side of Hove beach, following the colourful beach huts to find Rockwater. It’s a beach club offering beach-side yoga, brunch through to supper, live music in the evenings or a glass of wine to watch the sunset over.

Rent paddleboards or kayaks here to explore the West Pier and beyond on a calm day. Brighton looks so different from the sea and it’s a really fun way to get your bearings if you don’t know the city well.

Beautiful, Victorian grid-like streets with distinguished buildings and a café culture just 20 minute’s walk from the centre of Brighton. All the major ‘avenues’ lead south to the seafront where you’ll find Hove Lawns, the promenade and the beach. Cycle or walk along the prom east to Brighton or west towards Portslade and shoreham. The sunsets and sunrises are especially beautiful from Hove beach where you’ll leave the Brighton crowds behind.

Sightseeing

Go on a flight to the tower (looks like a silver bagel in the sky!) and have a glass of champagne while you look down on the ordered streets of Hove, the higgeldy-piggeldy area of Brighton, the beach, Beachy Head to the east and The South Downs to the north. Choose a clear day for the best views!
