Less than a 10 minute drive or bus ride from the apartment, the ferry is free and runs 24 hours a day. It is a quick 20-25 minute ride that takes you into downtown Manhattan. It is a scenic ride especially at night. During rush hour it leaves/arrives every 15 minutes. All other times it leaves/arrives every 30 minutes. You can get some great pictures of the Statue Of Liberty for free from the ferry.
