Only 20 minutes from the house is the majestic and historical Biltmore Estate. It is easily one of the most popular thing to see around the Asheville area. There is also a vineyard on the estate after you have toured the home and beautiful gardens.

Approximately 15 mins from the house is the Blue Ridge Parkway with dozens of trails to choose from. The visitor's center is nice and they have a 1 mile loop trail which is nice for families with young kids!

Lake Lure and Chimney State Park are both only 30 minutes south of Black Mountain and offer many great hikes, not to mention a large lake with beaches to swim and kayak/boat.

A short 15 minutes away is an incredible 1.5 mile hike to the falls and 1.5 miles back to the trailhead. It's a fairly easy hike and the trail hugs the creek that leads up to the falls. Highly recommend!
