Historic Alchool Distillery - Douro riverside
In an area classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the riverside of the Douro River, Art Douro is born in the building that was once the old Porto Alcohol Distillery, originally built during the 19th century, designed by a collaborator of engineer Gustavo Eiffel to produce brandy and alcohol to fortify the port wine. The building was fully recovered respecting the original architectural elements, being an architectural project with the signature of the renowned architect Pedro Balonas. Through the corridors of the building we can discover traces of the old distillery in original elements such as the stone, the metallic columns and the of the chimneys that still prevail that we can see through the windows that cover the interior gallery of the winter garden. On the main facade, crossing the small arched opening, we discover at the top of the traditional stone staircase, elements of what was once the distillery, and at the top a garden with a panoramic view of the entire riverside area and historic Porto.
