This place is where we got engaged! The old manor house is surrounded by a beautiful park with many trails in the surrounding woods. On Sundays, homemade waffles and buns are often served at the Alvøen Cafe.

This is a very nice spot to see the city. You can either take the funicular up or walk-up. Our recommendation is to take the funicular up and walk down to get the most out of your experience. The road down is in good condition so don't worry if you do not have mountain boots:) We recommend enjoying a Scandinavian ice cream at the top (called soft ice with toppings)

Ulriken is the highest mountain of the 7 that surround the city of Bergen. The walk-up is pretty steep but if you are up for a challenge, this is a good exercise for about 1 hour (each way). Drive up to Montana and park there along the local roads. You could also take the cable car (but this is quite expensive). It also has a restaurant at the top with a scenic view.

This is a challenging but very short hike. Joel´s personal record is 17 minutes up. It may sound easy, but this is a very steep walk. Great exercise but be prepared to sweat. This is more of a local favorite and not the typical tourist attraction. On the top, there is an anchor from the second world war. A ship exploded in the city and the anchor flew all the way to the top of the mountain. Fascinating story and a nice trip

Bryggen in Bergen is located in the city center. Bryggen is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Some facts from the www: Bryggen is a historic harbour district in Bergen, one of North Europe’s oldest port cities on the west coast of Norway which was established as a centre for trade by the 12th century. In 1350 the Hanseatic League established a “Hanseatic Office” in Bergen. They gradually acquired ownership of Bryggen and controlled the trade in stockfish from Northern Norway through privileges granted by the Crown. The Hanseatic League established a total of four overseas Hanseatic Offices, Bryggen being the only one preserved today.

One of the most famous mountain hikes in Norway. Going here requires some planning though. You have to drive for about 3 hours to get there and the trip itself might take up to 8 hours. Start early and make sure to plan well. Tip: order parking at the very top. This will significantly reduce the length of the trip and you wont miss out on the nature!

A small village one hour away from Bergen. Remember the VOSS water bottle? Well, this place is known as the Extreme Sport City. If you are up for it, you can do almost any outdoor activity here (Rafting, parachute jumping, mountain climbing, wind tunnel, etc). It is also a nice drive where you get to see some of the fjords.
