The Other Place is one of our favorites when we desire some Greek comfort food. It has a very large menu, including a full breakfast that is served anytime. The dinners include salad, soup, entree/bread, and dessert all in one price. It has a large seating capacity and we have never had to wait.

Smokin’ Bones has some great barbecue. It’s just slightly off the main drag, so it doesn’t get the crowds of some others, but I think the food is better than many others. The owner is a very “down to earth” guy who may just sit down and talk with you for a while (if interested). He, his children, and grandchildren are the ones who operate it.

Black bear is one our favorites. It is a typical diner, so don’t look for fine dining here. Their pancakes melt in your mouth and their country fried steak is close to “grandmas recipe.” They are very affordable and have many options; breakfast is available all day.

If you’re into sushi or other basic Asian cuisine, these guys are right down the hill. They also have a bento box that you can get with a filet mignon that is nice.

This is a Hawaiian barbecue joint with exceptional mac salad. Their options of meat are pork, chicken, and beef, and all choices make a nice meal with a side salad and beans.

How about a nice date night or a special occasion with a loved one? This is a nice Italian restaurant in the downtown area of SLC (about 12 minutes away). It is moderately priced, but very tasty.

This is definitely a favorite of locals and out of towners. It has a steep entrance that is sandy and full sun. However, once you get past the first 10–15 minutes, it is a wonderful hike along the canyon, with constant sounds and frequent views of the stream.. It is a nice hike to the waterfalls, and may be a bit much for some families with children.

Far in the background is the island. This is a cool experience. There is a $15 fee to drive on the island, but it is fun for the whole family. There is a homestead/historical site that is very interesting. You should see bison and antelope on your drive. You get great views of the wasatch front and the Great Salt Lake. It also is an internationally-certified dark sky park, perfect for stargazing.

Mirror lake is no doubt worth the drive, but this post is to recommend Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. This is the only paved road going through a portion of the Uinta wilderness. This wilderness is home to the highest point in Utah, Kings Peak. This byway is a beautiful drive east of Park city and it should show up on Apple or Google maps. There are many hiking trails off of this road, which lead to beautiful lakes and mountains streams, as well as high mountain summits. You can truly get into the wilderness just an hour and a half from the house.

You may have heard of the Bonneville Salt Flats. They have set land speed records here. - Multiple square miles of a flat surface of salt. This is about an hour and half from the house. It is open to the public and anyone is able to take their vehicle out and reach top speeds. Beware of the weather and precipitation as vehicles can get stuck if conditions are bad. Nonetheless, it’s a wonder to visit.

Winter or summer, Snowmobiling or four-wheeling , this place can meet your desires. Heber is about 52 miles, but You will get to ride in the Uintah national Forest, which is near Heber. There are other locations closer by, but when all is said and done, this is the one we choose. Going miles into the mountains and climbing thousands of feet in elevation riding one of these machines is an amazing experience.

This is a fun visit and it has free admission. There is a really interesting museum that tells all about the history of skiing. They have many outdoor activities in the summer and early fall. There are trails at the park to hike or bike on, as well as a connecting paved path to bike or walk Park City. They also practice long jumps here in summer, which is amazing to see up close.
