is a completely free (Optional donations) open air museum to explore the best of local culture. This is a fabulous day out and one of our all time favouruite places to visit for many years. Steeped in history. Explore traditionanl Highland black houses. Visit the old school house and try your hand and ink and quil or chalk and slate for the younger visitiors. Enjoy a wee visit to the olde sweet shop and yester-year farm yard. There's a gift shop and cafe if you are there for the day. Plenty parking and a great play area too. Some scenes from “outlander” were famously shot here. Situated in Newtonmore, a 20 minute drive from Aviemore. Roughly an hour from Pine Chalets.

The castle until recent years was actually the local Court House ! The Justice has vacated and a huge renovation project is taking place. The new museum will be located here and the whole castle will be the centrepiece of Inverness, as it should be. We have seen a preview of the completed project and what it is to beome and it is so exciting,we can't wait for it to open at some point in 2025!

Our local village

The historic quaint village of Beauly is a real treat to visit. With its beautiful, award winning individual shops and cafes and restuarants and amous for it's floral displays in Summer, it's definately worth a visit. It also has a good size co-op supermarket for essentials. There is an out door traditional Highland night every Thursday night throughout the Summer months which is worth a visit. The chip shop also do a fabulous fish supper and ice-cream to die for!
