Menemsha is part of the Town of Chilmark. It is a historic small working fishing village. The same fishing families have been coming and going from Menemsha for years. Some even have retail fish markets in Menemsha. If you’re going to the beach for a little swimming, sunning or sunsetting, be sure to get a cooked lobster, clams, mussels, etc., at one of the markets. The seafood could not be fresher. The fishing boats come in all day long. The fresh fish supplies the Island and off-Island. Don’t want to be a spectator, charter a fishing boat. Go out for the day, bring back dinner. You might even catch the ‘big one.’ Never been to the Elizabeth Islands, take a cruise over there or other nearby islands. Lots of action going on in this small village.
