Sightseeing

This is an English Heritage property and is famous for where Charles 2nd hid up an oak tree when fleeing from Cromwell's army in the English civil war. It is a very interesting house and has nice gardens. You can walk across the fields from here to the ruins of White Ladies priory. There is a nice cafe and shop. It is only 10 minutes' drive away from Brewood. You will need to book to be certain of going around the house.

The Shropshire Union canal passes through the village of Brewood and is a 3-minute walk from the Coach House. There are lovely walks along the tow path which we have drawn for our guests. You will see narrow boats passing by and a variety of wildlife.

A beautiful stately home with lovely gardens. Wonderful interiors to see. Forty-minute drive from Brewood. The Mitton and Mermaid pub is just outside the grounds and serves very good quality pub food.
