This bakery is an excellent café or coffee shop, 8 minutes walk from the house. I highly recommend the muffin with bacon, egg, hollandaise sauce and spinach.....$6.50. Great coffee too. The food at this cafe is awesome and there is plenty of options to take home for a light meal too

Wonderful white table cloth restaurant nearby. Pricey but worth it! Lovely selection of light meals as well. Try the duck liver parfait....or the asian shredded chicken salad......

This is a wonderful comfortable, light and spacious cafe that loves GREAT coffee and teas. lovely food also. It's not far from the house, and when I first went I was really surprised how lovely the environment was inside. A beautiful setting and very quiet from road noise.

Not just a shopping mall! Look it up on the internet, great shops. This mall was dragged out of the 80s and in to the now, post quake. It features boutique homeware, furniture and clothing stores, great cafes and a boutique food court. I drive here just to have dumplings for lunch and I live over an hour away! Definitely worth a visit for those wanting to avoid mainstream shopping...

Castle Hill Rocks is a very scenic place West of Christchurch (between Christchurch and Hokitika) well worth stopping. The limestone rocks are awe-inspiring and there are some nice easy walks to the rocks, just a short distance from the visitor carpark. In summertimes many rock climbers gravitate to this area to take part in the many rock climbing activities on offer. great for scenery shots, and a great break stop on your travels from Christchurch. They also have public toilets available.
