Swimming, sand play, SUPing, picnicking.

If you are willing to get an early start in the summer (very popular spot) and make beach camp by 10AM, Baldwin Beach is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches on Lake Tahoe and is about 15 minutes from our chalet. Additionally! A somewhat "hidden" gem is nearby (1 3/4 mi) Lake Baron at Tahoe Paradise Park. Lake Baron is best in late spring, and early summer. It is spring fed with almost no outlet, so it does grow algae and plant life as summer advances. This said, we love Lake Baron for ease of access to both this little lake and the Upper Truckee River. It has top notch pickle ball courts and the walk around the lake is nearly flat. Catch and release fishing is allowed with a permit. This lake has a great little beach and tented pergola, so super for picnicking, and the kids love pollywog hunting. (We provide a net.) We provide SUP boards for those interested and will transport them, should you need. Our crossfit daughter loves swimming the length of the lake, as the water gets quite tolerable by early July.
Go prepared with $10 parking fee. Get there early on warm summer days. Water is nicer on the north side of the beach.

Ski Resort

Though a bit of a drive (30 minutes +/-), the drive to Kirkwood itself is spectacular! Great family resort but with very few dining options. Pack lunch and snacks!

Food scene

Very “Plain Jane” bar and grill, but so fun watching planes come and go with very reasonable bar prices and some of the best bar food, ever! Excellent clam chowder, huge nachos, very good tacos, beef dip and onion rings!
Flight Deck Sports Bar & Grill
