Kuparipaja is one of the two restaurants in Fiskars Village. Its name means "Copper Smithy" and comes from the building it now occupies, which used to be the Fiskars copper smithy. You will find the restaurant just on the other side of the river on the right as you enter the village from the direction of our cottage. The food is excellent and its location right next to Fiskars River and the sluice channel where the river drops to its lowest level is fantastic. The restaurant also adjoins the exhibition space where the annual Fiskars exhibitions and other events are held.

Our local brewery producing award-winning beers that are definitely worth tasting. The brewery has been in the village since 2014, and has become a real favourite with tourists. It produces a wide range of beers using local ingredients and wild yeasts. The brewery has a small shop where you can buy beers to take home (only up to 5.5% alcohol according to the Finnish Alcohol Legislation) as well as other products. Many of the beers, including the stronger ones, are available to enjoy just around the corner from the brewery at the Taproom bar. You can also book a tour and beer tasting via Ägräs Distillery Taproom: taproom@agrasdistillery.com

Really great food! One of our favourite places to eat in Karjaa. Despite the name "Steakhouse", Köttkontrollen also does really great veggie options. The have a really good selection of local beers and other drinks, and the staff are super friendly. There is plenty of space to eat outside in the summer, and the restaurant is really cosy inside in winter. Köttkontrollen is situated in the centre of Karjaa next to the fire station, and is approximately 12km from our cottage.

A laid-back café with a lovely garden in the centre of Karjaa. Serendipity is a great place to relax with a drink in the summer, they also do great burgers. There is often live music at the café and it is a really lively place at the weekends. Local artists also have their work on display in the café, and you can even buy the artwork if you see something that you like. There are lots of boardgames in the café for those cold winter evenings, and a guitar on the wall if you know how to play. Definitely worth a visit and only 12km from our cottage.

Sightseeing

Local sights and places worth visiting during your visit.
Located in the Dagmar Park, in Tammisaari, the Dagmar’s Spring is an interesting historic site as well as a beautiful spot by the sea with a little bay and a pier where you can go swimming. The trail descends down to the Dagmar’s Spring and on to the beach, so make sure to wear good shoes as the terrain is uneven. It’s a lovely quiet spot surrounded by beautiful nature to enjoy and day out and have a picnic.
