Next to the playground and ball field, there's a little rocky shore. On warm summer days when there hasn't been too much rain, the river is perfect for skipping rocks, wading, or catching frogs.

The view from the 5-car parking lot alone is worth a stop. You can choose between two short loops, and hike through a nice mixture of meadow and forest. You'll find loads of wild blackberries in August and September, and may find any number of toads, grass snakes and birds.

The view from the 5-car parking lot alone is worth a stop. You can choose between two short loops, and hike through a nice mixture of meadow and forest. You'll find loads of wild blackberries in August and September, and may find any number of toads, grass snakes and birds.
It's the perfect distance for families or anyone looking for a moderately easy 2-mile hike (one mile from the trailhead to the top). There's some incline, but the view at the top is worth it. You'll have a view of the Pepacton Reservoir and a lovely pond teeming with wildlife.

Our favorite local swim hole, 25 min from the house. You can park on the side of the road and find your own private entry to the lake, or head to the small parking lot and share the beach with a few others.

About 40 minutes away, this is a nice 2 mile easy loop with some interesting ruins if you're headed from or back to Kingston anyways.
