Hiking

All kinds of different local, favorite hikes!
Moderate/Hard 2.3 mi in Salt Lake Neat hike on the face of the Salt Lake foothills. Ends at a mountain face full of flat rocks that hikers have arranged into living room furniture. This hike doesn't have shade and can get hot but ends with great views of the valley. If you're hiking to watch the sunset make sure to bring flashlights/headlamps (cell phone flashlights won't be enough light). Suitable for older kids. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/the-living-room-lookout-trail

Easy 2 mi. Loop Fruit Heights Awesome little trail along a small creek. Several bridges that cross the creek. There is also Nichols Park right by the trail (but you can't see it from the actual trail). Fairly flat and hard packed (doable with a stroller that has larger wheels). Great for all skill levels and is shaded during spring, summer, and fall. ‪1105 E Nicholls Rd, Fruit Heights, UT 84037‬

Easy/Moderate 1.5 mi in Kaysville This trail starts out the same as the regular Adams Canyon hike but splits off to a smaller, closer waterfall. You'll hike up all 10 switchbacks and at the top there will be a bench to rest on. The trail splits and goes up/East into the canyon or to the right/down/South to the lower falls. At the bench the there are two trails, one that is longer/flatter and one is shorter/steeper, both take you to the lower falls and both are considered easy. Right when you get to the falls you do have to scramble down some rocks to get to the base. The base of the falls isn't big, not a place to sit and have a snack. https://utahsadventurefamily.com/adams-canyon-lower-falls/

Moderate 3.8 mi in Kaysville A local favorite that ends in a beautiful waterfall. This trail is super busy and you'll see all skill levels attempting it because it's popular. But, you do scramble over rocks several times and it may be hard with young children. Come prepared with water/food as it can seem harder/longer than it actually is. You'll hike up 10 sandy, sunny, switchbacks right at the beginning but the rest is shady and through the trees. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/adams-canyon-trail

City advice

Getting around

Rental car is the best way to go

A rental car will most definitely be your best bet staying at our place! The freeway is close and easily accessible. If heading to Downtown, City Creek has cheap parking! If using public transportation, I would recommend getting utilizing Uber or Lyft, at least to get yourselves closer to your destination or to a front runner/TRAX station. We are in a neighborhood, and grocery shopping and some restaurants are 1.5-2.5 miles away-convenient in a car, but not so much for walking! Overall, public transportation is going to take more time, and you’ll need to budget some money for Uber/Lyft rides.
