Guidebook for Espedalen

Skåbu is a 10-15 minutes drive from the cottage, and here you can buy food, other essentials and fuel.

Suggestions from the hytte ON FOOT: Hike from the cottage to Ruten (1513 meters, fantastic view) - 2-4 hours, or Bingsbu - 1-2 hours; or 2-3 kms along Peer Gynt road until you can see the majestetic Hedalsmuen. Suggestions from the hytte WITH CAR: Drive to Helvete potholes (20 mins drive) and continue south to the parking next to Vis-Knutheimen. Hike from there to Trona (1 hour) with fantastic view over Jotunheimen and Rondane; drive to Skåbu ( 15 mins) and do the short hike to Skardfjellet for the view; see 'Elgtårnet' near the hotels (Dalseter and Ruten fjellstue); or the Espedalen mountain church with the little island for winter-graves from the times when there were mining in Espedalen.
