Walk or ride your bike along the trail. To get to the trail head, go to the end of the driveway, turn left and walk up North Street a short distance. Cross North Street over to Nott Street and you are now on the Eastern Trail. Follow the Eastern Trail signs to the wooded trail behind historic Thornton Academy. After approximately 1 mile, the trail will hit Main Street. Follow the trail signs under the 195 bridge and you will arrive at a long wooded section of the trail that will take you to Old Orchard Beach, Scarborough, and even Portland if you have the endurance.

Growing up my family would spend a week here every summer. This is one of the best beaches in Maine in my opinion. The sand is soft, and seals and sand dollars can be found. Parking can be challenging, however, so read the signs carefully and/or talk to the General Store about a parking passes.

Think Hampton Beach and Salisbury Beach, but all jammed into a half mile stretch of road. It’s a pier that caters to tourists. Crowded, noisy, and it can get wild at night. Play some skee ball, ride a roller coaster, play video games, or just get some fried dough/funnel cake and people watch. Fireworks on Thursday nights in the summer, but if you are just going for that then park around Temple Street and make your way to the beach from there.
