Entertainment & Activities

(Exhibition Park in Canberra) Many events are held here, including the legendary National Folk Festival at Easter and the Royal Canberra Show. There is an excellent farmers' market every Saturday morning (5-minute walk). Gate 4 at EPIC is a five-minute walk from my front door. (This Gate is open to pedestrians during the Royal Canberra Show. It is not open during the National Folk Festival.)

There are so many things to see and do in Canberra that it's impossible to list them all. So much depends on your interests and taste. A great place to start is by looking at the Visit Canberra website and click on the Menu button at the top left to get a feel for things you might be interested in. One of the best things about Canberra is that it is so easy to get around, and many of the main attractions are very close together: instead of taking all day to drive somewhere and see something, as happens in big cities, I've had many guests who have been able to do several things in one day.

A wonderful gallery with changing exhibitions. Free entry. The other day I sat in the Sidney Nolan Ned Kelly gallery for ages: to me this painter's characters are quintessentially Australian.

This is a great place to see Canberra as a beautifully-designed city. You can walk by Lake Burly Griffin for as long as you like and see iconic buildings, beautiful gardens, with hills in the background. Beautiful! One of my favourite places.
