Essentials

Bónus is probably the best known budget store in Iceland and it’s usually considered the cheapest. The interiors are quite spartan and the selection not great but it should fulfill your basic food needs. This is where the boyfriend and I usually do our shopping for the home. Budget brand: Euroshopper

Entertainment & Activities

For harsh weather days you can always have a movie night! Located near the house is ones of Reykjavik oldest movie theater although show room A is very highly and newly renovated with comfy seats, big screen and top line sound system! All foreign movies have the original language and only contain subtitles in Icelandic. There is a break in the middle of the movie so don´t be confused when they stop the movie in the middle of a scene lol.

Arts & Culture

Outside the summer season the Family Park remains open as a play area. At the edge of the Laugardalur valley, not far from Laugardalur Arena, is a strangely shaped, domed white building. It is known as the Reykjavík Art Museum’s Ásmundarsafn sculpture collection. This used to be the studio of Ásmundur Sveinsson (1893-1982), a pioneer of Icelandic sculpture. In addition to his works exhibited inside the museum, a sculpture garden outside contains many of his monumental works.
