The uncitified atmosphere (with blues playing nightly) and the straightforward menu with zero gourmet trappings have earned this twenty-year-old institution national attention—and all the debate that accompanies such notice. Come here if you want nothing more than a plate of ribs, which arrive blackened, moderately caramelized, modestly smoky, and altogether satisfying. Neighborhood: Ansley Park, Atlanta, Morningside / Lenox Park Category: Barbeque

Gyros with a side of belly dancing? Afraid so. This fun-loving Greek restaurant off of Cheshire Bridge (near high-end Woodfire Grill) caters to a party-going crowd with a love for good Greek food in a raucous atmosphere. Bring a group of friends to eat and you'll be encouraged to get up for the occasional dance train around the room. Throwing napkins in the air is a big thing (do that a lot if you don't know what else to do). And don't be surprised if your server or one of the belly dancers steps onto your table and starts dancing. After dinner, you'll be encouraged to do the same.

As one of Atlanta’s finest restaurants, The Colonnade offers exceptional service, Southern fried chicken, fresh fish, and fresh country vegetables. Family-owned-and-operated restaurant is dedicated to quality and friendly dining. We feature our own homemade dressings, sauces, pies and everybody’s favorite homemade yeast rolls. Generous portions of chicken, steaks, seafood and pork aim to please any discerning palate. The Colonnade was founded in 1927 in a small, white- columned house at the corner of Piedmont Road and Lindbergh Drive where it thrived until losing its lease in 1962. Was featured in the movie Identity Thief featuring Melissa McCarthy.

On one of intown's hottest blocks is a sassy cross between Einstein's volcanic be-seen scene and some laid-back cruise bar with a dinerteria menu. The mostly male crowd (all ages and types) has learned that it's best to stick with the simplest grill items: tasty gourmet burgers with fries; black-bean chili served in a cup or over a dog; sauteed spinach; and iceberg lettuce salad with crumbled blue cheese. Service varies. Beers and wines are properly chilled.

Established in 1968 by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (“The King Center”) has been a global destination, resource center and community institution for over a quarter century. The King Center is a 501(c)3. Nearly a million people each year make pilgrimage to the National Historic Site to learn, be inspired and pay their respects to Dr. King’s legacy. Both a traditional memorial and programmatic nonprofit, the King Center was envisioned by its founder to be “no dead monument, but a living memorial filled with all the vitality that was his, a center of human endeavor, committed to the causes for which he lived and died.”

One of the longest running clubs in Atlanta, MJQ Concourse takes the word "underground" to an entirely new level. The club is actually entirely underground. There's no website and most find out about it through a friend. Unassuming to a passerby, you'd never know that the entrance was the gateway to one of the most popular dance clubs in the city. Open late at night, it is just as popular on weeknights as weekends. Patrons here come to enjoy themselves and dance and listen to talented DJs do their thing. Dress is casual and the vibe is far from upscale. Music is wide-ranging and varies according to the night.
