A good place to hang on rainy days, they make good waffles, have games and books for use, and a relaxed atmosphere. Turns into a bar/club in the night.

Good fish food to eat in or take away. Steer away from the fish & chips, though! Buy some of the tasty fish cakes or a cup of fish soup and eat it while exploring Bryggen.

Parks & Nature

The park is a military area, but open to the public. The whole park is good for picnics or relaxing in the sunshine, but the grassy top of the former castle walls is excellent for an overview of the harbour and a good sunset.

If you want to be close to nature and have a walk and a nice view, without going all the way to Mount Fløien, this walking path is a good choice. Lots of benches along the way to relax and look at Bergen from above.

Sightseeing

Although there is a long line of tourists waiting to take the funicular to Mount Fløien, it is a must while in Bergen. Save time in the line by buying a coffee or bun plus a ticket for the funicular at the bakery Godt brød by the main station in the center, or walk up to one of the higher stops with no queue (it only stops at the in-between stops once a hour). Great views both on the way and on the top, freshly made buns in the kiosk on top and good playing areas for children. Avoid the restaurant, the food is overprized and boring. Walk down to the center again, it is easy and downhill and will only take you approximately 20-30 minutes.
