Sightseeing

Southend Pier is one of my favourite places to go and I would highly recommend it. The pier is the longest pleasure pier in the world and is 1.33 miles long. You can either walk it or get on the tram, and if you are into wildlife you may be lucky enough to see a seal or two! There are places to grab a coffee and food at the end of the pier. Opening times vary depending on the season so definitely check.

Food, Shopping and Sightseeing

Old Leigh is an old fishing village with seaside pubs, cobbled streets and authentic cockle/seafood sheds. If you love to shop, then Leigh Broadway is the place to be. The Broadway West and Leigh Road in particular really is a shopper’s paradise. Lining the streets of this funky, retro town, is a variety of independent, quirky fashion boutiques, dedicated antiques stores, and home-ware emporiums, elegantly placed alongside the big names and high-street classics. Throughout the year, Leigh-on-Sea also proudly hosts a number of shopping events and fayres, presenting the opportunity for shoppers to bag themselves that vintage purse, a gem of an antique, or some local-made up-cycled furniture. See our event listing for any upcoming events.
