Food scene

This place has a great beach (our favourite) and a good restaurant. We can especially recommend the dakos (barley rusks with tomatoes and feta), and the mojitos at the bar next to the smaller swimming pool.

A small traditional restaurant in the village, 5 minutes walk up from the house. The menu uses local produce and is often limited to what happens to be fresh and available at the time. We can recommend the snails and dolmades especially. There is a small covered room on the first floor that is well suited for families and has a great view down to the coast. Also close by is 5ifty 5ive Music Cafe Wine Bar, well worth a visit for good wine and beer and live music on occasion.

City/town information

The nearest big town, Ierapetra is a bustling, noisy, busy place. There are several good supermarkets, loads of restaurants, and also a fort to visit. There is an interesting archaeological museum which is only occasionally open.

A stunning walk up along a gorge and into the hills. Don't forget to take lots of water and to arrange transport from the end of the walk as it is a long weary road back down to the car park!
