1. Out of the three bio bays in Puerto Rico, Laguna Grande in Fajardo is the only one that’s not technically a bay but a lagoon. Bioluminescent bays rare ecosystems happen when microscopic, single-celled organisms called dinoflagellates grow in quantities big enough to produce a “glow-in-the-dark” effect when stimulated by movement.  There are only five ecosystems in the world where the concentration of these planktons is high enough to be considered bioluminescent bays, and Puerto Rico is home to three of them. You can kayak, take a boat trip or walk through the boardwalk located at the lighthouse. There are several companies that provide guided adventures to this nature’s gem.

Vieques/Culebra trip

These two islands are the biggest ones of the Puerto Rico archipelago. They can be reached by air or sea. The fastest way is to catch a small plane departing from Ceiba, SJU or Isla Grande airports or by the ferry that departs from the town of Ceiba (about 30 minutes from Dulce Salao). **There has been some issues with the ferry services.
