Robin Hood's Stride is a spectacular tor of gritstone rocks perched on a ridge between Harthill Moor and the Alport-Winster road. Legend has it that Robin strode between the tower-like stones at either end of the tor, but this is unlikely because they are 15 metres apart and the ascent of the towers is difficult - especially the southern one.

Built in 1797 and restored in 2002, Heage Windmill – a Grade II* listed building – is a top Derbyshire Attraction with a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award and the only working six-sailed stone tower windmill in England. She is set in the Derbyshire countryside, providing spectacular views towards the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Car parking is available on site. Visitors can go on tours with guides normally in costume. There is also an Interpretation Centre and a shop selling souvenirs, light refreshments and the windmill’s own flour. Groups are welcome by prior arrangement. Look out for special events – such as Tractor Day or Classic Bike Day – throughout the year.
