This is a wonderful no waste store that stocks food, soaps and other essentials in bulk. The food is the best quality all from local, sustainable, ethical farms. I primarily split my weekly shopping between this place and the PA. If you only need to buy a very small quantity of any pantry staple or spice for your stay… this is where you should go! Borrow a Tupperware or jar from the apt, or they have paper bags you can use.

The first bagel shop to ever open in Montreal. Tourists and locals alike take the detour to pick up these delicious old-style bagels. Lucky for you, it’s located one block over. Avoid Saturdays and Sundays between 10-2. Ask for the sesame as they are always hot. Great with cream cheese and smoked salmon!

This is the restaurant to go for fantastic French food. It’s really like being in a brassiere in Paris. They are usually booked up but if you can’t get a reservation and are a smallish party I suggest going at 5:30 and asking if they can squeeze you in. It usually works for us! On rue St Denis It’s about 20 min by public transport or a 30 min walk from our house.
