  • Tish and Leslie's place was more than we could have asked for :) The mobile home was much larger than expected and very clean! We ended up arriving later than anticipated but Tish so thoughtfully left the front porch light on for us which made their place much easier to locate in the dark. The apartment was equipped with everything that we needed to have an enjoyable stay. There is a large parking spot in front of the mobile home. Definitely worth the price and would recommend to anyone! :)

    Carling2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tish's place is home away from home! Enjoyed my stay on the Island. Great location...40 minutes to the ferry! Quiet location. People are very friendly! I look forward to staying here again on my next trip!

    Joy2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tish was such a wonderful host, and her place gave me butterflies as we pulled up to it and stepped inside. Beautifully placed within the woods, private, well equipped and overall, perfect. It truly did feel like home, and Tish had thought of everything down to an Autumn themed entrance with scents and candles. I can't say enough about how grateful we were to stay in this little home away from home. Thank you so much, and I can't wait to be back again soon!

    Gaggan2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this place. It was clean and cozy, with all the amenities we needed. The hostess was thoughtful and very responsive.

    Denise2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • I must admit that staying at this Airbnb location was one of my best. Everything you would need for staying a night or a week with wonderfully friendly locals around you. I would definitely stay here again when I go back to the Island!

  • George is a fantastic host! Quick replies to all our questions, easy check in, cabin is exactly as described. Photos don't do the view from the cabin justice!

    Melanie2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • An awesome place to stay, so quiet and relaxing. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day. A fire in the evening was lovely, toasting marshmallows on sticks. The lake is so clear, and an amazing place to watch the sunrise in the morning is on the deck while drinking tea. Would definitely recommend staying here.

    Julie2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, quaint , and cozy. George was quick to respond to our messages and kept a lovely space with a stunning view

    Anita2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely love George’s cabin. It is so peaceful and relaxing! There are so many things we love about his cabin but just to name a few; the outdoor shower, the use of the kayak and the cooking fire pit are some of our favourites. We have made George’s cabin an annual getaway and we can’t wait to visit again!!!

    Rebecca2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • George's cottage was great! It was equipped with almost everything you could ever need for a comfortable and fun stay. The lake was beautiful in both the morning and night time. George was also very keen in communicating as his responses were very fast! I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever decide to visit manitoulin!

    Chula2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our 3rd time here and we are never disappointed. Nice additions having the eggs and wood delivered before we arrived. Can’t beat that night sky and that magnificent view of the bay.

    Aimee2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for peace and Tranquility you have found your spot!! Nothing like waking up to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Tons of great hiking trails, so much Native culture to explore I am literally in love with George's cabin. This was my second summer hidding out and I already can't wait for next summer!!

  • Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay for the second year in row. This home has everything, is spotless and well maintained. William is a fantastic host ensuring that all our expectations were met and then some. We really feel at home here and we plan to come back next year.

    Garret2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • William's cottage is a perfect retreat for families wishing to enjoy the lake and Manitoulin Island. Our family loved staying here. We really appreciated a previous post advising us to bring water shoes so that we could walk out over the rocks into the water. We could walk out the back door to the water, and swim, snorkel, and float to our hearts' content. It was like having our own private beach. The cottage was comfy and had everything we needed for a fun family stay.

  • We stayed for only 3 days at William's Cottage, the place is amazing so private and Natural setting let us relax and recharge. At the same time as our Tesla got a charge for the round trips around the Island. Special thanks to William to install the 30 Amp charging Plug for our EV. The next time we have an oversee visitors we will bring them here.

There's bedrooms upstairs & downstairs, as well as a large kitchen, dining, and living area. It was clean and tidy and full of great cottage touches like books, games, and chopped wood for the fire.

  • Cindy’s cottages are wonderful, adjacent to the shore in a protected bay one can hear the waves lapping. Our cottage was clean, cozy, so quiet and private amongst a cedar grove. Lots of hot water for showers and a good cooking kitchen. I loved the unpretentiousness style - old school ascetics! good to get away from trending interiors and be real. The spacious back deck with picnic table and good bbq overlooked the water. Cindy’s hospitality and cottages are 5 star!

  • Clean and comfortable space. Peaceful location. Thanks Cindy!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Bears Inn, highly recommend! Cindy made us feel at home straight away and the cottages are perfectly cozy. Grounds are quiet and well maintained. Not far from the ferry terminal and a great base to explore the rest of Mantoulin Island.

    Matthew2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience!

    Sean2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • My family stayed at the Bears Inn cottage for two nights. The location is perfect for our first time visit to the Manitoulin Island. It is 10 mins drive from the Ferry Terminal and very close to Hwy 6 which links up to all other highways on the island. Our cottage (#6) is right by the lake. You can enjoy the view inside and outside on the deck with a BBQ. The beds and the pull-out couch are very comfortable. There is a lazy boy in the living room. The kitchen is well equipped. Bring your own shampoo and body wash. I would recommend staying at Cindy’s cottage.

Not far from the ferry dock, this 100 acre Art Farm features organic gardens, exceptional up close bird watching, a pristine creek and a labyrinth for meditative walks. Swimming, hiking, fishing, and beautiful stargazing are all nearby. Your host can guide you to cultural events, introduce you to the Indigenous language of the region, and share magical true stories of the natural surroundings.
One of three rooms available (see our other listings), this cute room with a Queen bed has lots of light and a view of the creek. The happy buzz of organic farm life and lower room rates make this an excellent choice for nature lovers.
Manitoulin Island is truly unique in several respects - the geology, plant life, wildlife, and birds distinctly reflect Manitoulin’s uniqueness as the largest freshwater island in...well...the Universe!! Well, as far as we know ☀️! The Indigenous Nations on the island are vibrant communities, the origins of leaders in the arts, law, governance, activism, agriculture, environmentalism, robotics(!), and each hosts an awesome Pow-Wow throughout the summer months.
  • I spent a winter weekend on the island. Boo was a wonderful host. We had great conversation! Boo is very knowledgeable and helpful for tips on where to go. She allowed me to use her snowshoes and trek around the property. All around wonderful stay!

    Beth2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Boo is a very welcoming and friendly host. My stay was short but Boo made me feel like family.

    Luke2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Boo's place is amazing. We visited in early November, and Manitoulin was so quiet and peaceful. Boo is a lovely storyteller, a gracious host. We even shared a delicious meal together, talking about the local culture and ended up getting a few tips in the Ojibway languages. I can't recommend a visit to the Island enough, and Boo was the perfect host.

    Michael2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Boo has so much going on here! Organic gardens, dogs, a cat; an extremely warm atmosphere! She is so welcoming and friendly also. Thank you, Boo!

    Brett2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Boo is a wonderful soul and person. She is a free spirit who is willing to share not only her unique spot in the world, but also her unique views. Her suggestions for sights to see on the Island were not only helpful, but they really made our stay much more enjoyable. She was a lovely host and I would happily stay there again. Her farm is unique and serene.

    Julianne2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Boo's place is quaint and feels like home. The real pride and joy of the home is Boo herself. We really enjoyed getting to know Boo and cuddling her dogs and cat. It was nice to walk around d her garden and labyrinth. There is a lovely restaurant right next door and it is an absolute must. Definitely want to gome back.

    Brittany2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Art Farm is a one of a kind experience, you will take away with you those things you need the most.

Many tourists / travellers arrive via Chi Cheemaun from Tobermory to South Baymouth. My place is close to Thunderbird park and in the main village of Wikwemikong. My home is located off the busier main street of the village. You will have access to the main house including the tv room, kitchen, laundry, and sitting room. There is also a propane BBQ on the large deck and below is a newly built fire pit. My place is good for couples, singles, business travellers, and families (with kids).
My home is located in Wikwemikong First Nation on Manitoulin Island. If you are interested in First Nations Culture then its good place to start your day.
  • Priscilla is an great host and will make sure you have a great place to stay on Manitoulin Island.

    Jeanne2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in airbnb's around the world and I can say that staying at Priscilla's place was comfortably within the very top of the experiences that I have had so far. Her place is very well kept and comfortable. It is ideally situated. And Priscilla is a wonderfully kind and hospitable host. She even baked for us! I would recommend this place hands down (however, I am a bit reluctant to do so because I want to make sure that it is available the next time I go!)

    Paul2019-08-30T00:00:00Z

  • Priscilla welcomed us as a family member. The room was perfect. It was very clean and well organized. Private bathroom was excellent. Highly recommended.

    Masis2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Priscilla is quick to respond and will make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. We stayed in the room with the private bathroom and the bed is very comfortable. The location is not central however if you have a vehicle easy to reach the Cup & Saucer hike and the falls.

  • Priscilla's home is lovely and very clean. She is a lovely lady and very welcoming. This was my first experience staying in an Airbnb and now I have confidence to book in the future! An amazing first experience - thanks Priscilla!

  • I've never been to an AirBnb as amazing as Priscilla's or met a host as wonderful as Priscilla. I stayed for four nights with my son, and Priscilla immiately made us feel at home with her homemade banana bread and warm personality. Her place is sparkling clean, well-organized and very tastefully decorated with lots of thoughtful touches. Her kitchen is very well-equipped and user-friendly, and she makes sure guests have room for their things. In the backyard, she has outdoor seating, a fire pit and a trampoline, a great space for people of all ages! Even before we arrived, Priscilla was quick to respond to messages, and she helped us with many things while were in town. She has lots of local tips and brochures, so guests don't have to worry about planning too much in advance. Priscilla has a heart of gold, and I really enjoyed the time we spent together. I look forward to staying at her place again.

  • This was my second time staying with Priscilla and she did not disappoint! Her house is clean, organized and she provides plenty of fridge and cupboard space for those who want to bring their own food! As I was there for three weeks, I was able to see the time and effort Priscilla put into thoroughly cleaning the rooms after each guest and even taking the time to make freshly baked goods to share. I would recommend staying here for anyone planning to visit Manitoulin Island!

  • Priscilla is a lovely host. We had really late check in and she waited on us. Great talk with her. Unfortunately we stayed only for one night but we loved it there. Beds were comfortable. The room was cozy. Entire house is beautiful. If You're going to Wikwemikong, go to Priscilla. She will take care of you. And definitely take a coffee and breakfast at Loco Beanz Coffee Shop in the village Manitowanning near of the lighthouse in the Arthur Street.

  • The stay at Kathy and Tim’s started out great with quick response to any of our questions leading up to our stay. Upon arrival we were very happy with how the place looked, the space is amazing. Two big bedrooms and a very spacious common area. Being right on the water was great for ice fishing. Lots of wildlife around to look at. We saw over 40 deer on just a short snowmobile ride along the shoreline. We will definitely go back the next trip to the island, and strongly recommend this place to all travellers. Thanks for the stay.

  • Great weekend gate away.. Beautiful location, welcoming host, clean and well maintained house. This place will never disappoint you. We spend couple of quiet winter days staring at the frozen lake and people doing ice fishing and snow mobling. The night sky was brilliant with lot of stars and some amount of northern light.. A place highly recommended!

Kathy, our host, is such a nice woman, friendly, funny,involved,... definitely the best stay in our nine month worldtrip. It had a reason that we kept extending our stay. In stead of two nights, we stayed 10! We are coming back in June, for sure.

  • Beautiful cabins and space to relax view the lake!

    Dr. Mary2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a generous, informative, and helpful host who wants her guests to have the best experience of the island. The cabin is even nicer in person and it looks right out onto serene Lake Manitou - the largest lake on Manitoulin Island. Fog blankets the property and the lake some early mornings and is pretty magical. At night the stars are incredible. The cabin has plenty of hot water (showers and washing dishes were never cut short). Thanks Brenda!

    Tess2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • A corner of paradise at the edge of Manitoulin Lake. A house of character in which one feels good of our arrival. Places very well maintained both inside and outside. Space, calm and a lake that reaches out to you. We will come back !

  • Fantastic place, fantastic host. Place looked just like the photos (if not better), the sunset, sunrise views are incredible. The mist rising off the water in the early morning makes for great photos. The place was super cozy, well decorated, loved the firewood stove. Kitchen fully stocked, everything working well. Brenda was a top-notch host and a sharp sense of humor. Could not ask for more!

One of three rooms available (see our other listings), this cute room has lots of light and a view of the creek.
  • You couldn’t wish for a better place to recharge or a nicer host than Boo (plus dogs and cat). Made to feel incredibly welcome and Boo is happy to talk to her guests. Charming house in beautiful land which I was lucky to see in its Fall colours!

    Colin2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • A friendly welcome, and a great host you can talk to if you want company.

    Frank2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The best way I can describe my stay with Boo can only be said in one word: magical. Her home and her hospitality was so warm and welcome that it didn't feel like I was visiting but more like I was at home. She is a dynamite of a host who knows all the special places on the island, but honestly could spend days on her property and what she has curated within it. Her garden has the freshest vegetables and the quiet in the mornings is transformative. Singing, dancing, gardening and lots of talks about the stars and birds, my mind and my heart became much more open with my time with Boo. She is truly an incredible being, a gracious host and her home is something sacred. When I get the chance I will be coming back and staying for a much longer time. My stay has convinced me that I'm a country girl at heart, thank you for the life changing week my friend!

    Sydney2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Boo really opens her home to visitors - she is super friendly and engaging. The place is basically an old farm house with tons of character. You can explore the garden and creek, use the kitchen, hang out with the pets and relax in the living room. Boo will also go above and beyond to help you out- she even gave me a driving lesson :) I’d really recommend this place to people interested in taking time to connect with their surroundings and with other people on their travels.

    Lara2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Boo was great and we had a wonderful time at her house.

    Jane2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a rural country property in a gorgeous setting; very peaceful and relaxing; close to the ferry and easy access to several towns as well as Bridal Veil Falls. It is exactly as it is shown. Manitoulin Island is far more agricultural than I expected, for being so far north. I travel with a dog so I was so happy I could bring my dog and let her run free. I had some fascinating conversations with Boo and learned a lot about life on the island. The other guests at the farm were also very nice. A genuine and welcoming experience.

    Ilze2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming somewhat magical place of serenity and relaxation. The setting is very rustic and natural with a high degree of comfortableness in every aspect. The host, Boo isa delightful woman who is very entertaining and full of stories. Just spending time with her chatting is worth the price of admission alone.

    Kevin2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • if you have an open mind, the international comes to you. The host Boo is too good to be true. great moments spent with Boo and miss her already. I cooked dinner for her and that's how good she is. ;)

  • This family home is on a quiet road along Manitowaning Bay. It has all the comforts of a winter get-away in combination with that of your own home. We booked it over Christmas week as an extra house for our large visiting family and it worked out very well. Everyone could get solid sleeps and hot showers and yet still be close enough to enjoy lots of family time together at our house. We had an amazing time with our kids and their families and would do it again.

    Judy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Laura & Blair for being a great host. This place is amazing. We all loved this house and felt like the home. We'll be back in the future.

  • Laura & Blair’s home was everything that we expected. Our families enjoyed our stay there and made memories to last a lifetime! Their house was exactly what we were looking for and had everything that we needed. We will definitely be returning!!

    Lisa2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Manitoulin Island is a fabulous place to explore. The access to the beach, with all its water sports equipment, was enjoyed by all. We especially loved sitting in the sauna after a swim in the weed-free waters. It was great having two fully equipped bathrooms with two families staying at the Beach house. They had everything we needed to cook inside and outside. The grown-ups did enjoy visiting Blair at his Brewery in town. We would highly recommend this holiday home to others.

    Debbie2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • What great place. We were 6 adults and two children, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was large and had every appliance you could ask for. Little extras like condiments, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent, shampoo make a huge difference. The outdoor space was lovely and private. The trampoline was well used, and the water toys (kayaks, paddle board) offered entertainment, especially when the adults tried to used them . There were even life jackets in the sauna room. Oh yes, there is a sauna. This was a one - time event for our family and I am really glad we got to spend it at Laura and Blair's house.

    Jill2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This beach house was homey, comfortable and very spacious. Blair was very friendly and accommodating! We will definitely rent there again.

  • Couldn’t have been better. The cottage was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed with a stunning view over the beautiful beach. It was super relaxing. I definitely wish to come back . Laura and Blair were so friendly and amazing hosts, so responsive and cheerful.

  • We stayed at Tammy's cottage for the September long weekend and it was an absolutely incredible time. I cannot say enough about how great the location is. The cottage is located right at the edge of the water with a sparkling clean shoreline. The cottage itself was great and had everything we needed. Tammy was really helpful and there were tons of thoughtful touches throughout our stay like a bonfire ready to be lit when we wanted. Will definitely book again.

    Arpan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Booking with Tammy has been the best traveling experience we’ve had! She is super quick to reply and always very very friendly and helpful. This cottage is at a extremely beautiful location and Tammy had made it a comfortable home for us for the week! Great experience and would totally recommend to anyone!

    Sibylle2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful space. Tammy was fabulous and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was sparkling, the lake was beautiful and we had lots of privacy. Definitely a five star!!!

    Jenni2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely week here. The house is perfect for those traveling with dogs. (I had no idea Manitoulin was so dog friendly but you can bring them on the ferry and to many local attractions). At the house, they had a dog tie out for the lawn, a water bowl and even a bed! Our dog was so happy watching the ducks swim by from the gated porch. He even enjoyed brief dips in the lake. The house is very spacious and comfortable. There is an easy to use BBQ and the kitchen is equipped with everything necessary to make great meals from fresh local produce (some great farmer's markets around - ask Tammy). Lots of plates, mugs, cutlery, spices. Everything is new. The stove is one of those new induction models that can boil a pot of water almost instantly! There were lots of towels - everything we needed was with in easy reach. The view of the lake is strikingly beautiful. In fact, the whole island is spectacular. The house feels very peaceful and isolated but the town of Mindemoya is a short drive and has a supermarket. If you are in Mindemoya, stop at Maja's and pick up some of he fresh baked bread!!! I would not hesitate to return here or to recommend this house to others. It was so easy to relax here and just enjoy the beauty of the area. A near perfect vacation spot.

    Beth2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was exactly what our family was hoping for. Clean & comfortable caught numerous bass off the dock. Tammy was a perfect host hands off & there when you needed her. Breakfast at Timberlane Resort on the Sunday morning is a must do! We have been renting for years and this was one of our top experiences. Loved it

    Rob2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We were so lucky to come across Tammy's listing!! It was a last minute decision to book and there was not much selection in the area left to accomodate us but I can not imagine anything better! We were 2 families and there was MORE than enough room! Beds were comfortable and there was lots of sitting room. The "yard" over looking the lake provides lots of space for kids to play! But they spent most of their time jumping off the dock ;) i highly recommend water shoes for everyone. Tammys place litteraly has everything you will need! The location on the island is great because it is very central to all "attractions". Ws wish we could have stayed longer as 3 days was definitely not long enough!

    Amy2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The host was lovely and check in and check out were easy. Amazing location on the lake. Overall, it was excellent value for the cost!

    Sherisse2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Tammy is an excellent host. Great communication leading up to our stay and helpful with all and any questions that we had. Absolutely beautiful cottage on Lake Manitou. The Blue House is a Century home surrounded by flowers, green pastures and cedar forests, nestled in a quaint village. Formerly home to one of the last Bell telephone switchboards in Canada (the board itself is now in a local museum), 'The Blue House' has history and charm galore, on top of every modern amenity you require to make your trip memorable. As your host I will do whatever I can to ensure you enjoy your stay on this unique and beautiful island. Safe travels!
A BIT OF HISTORY… The Blue House was built by an American émigré in the early 20th century. His background before arriving to Manitoulin Island is mysterious and rumour has it he buried a handgun somewhere on the property. If you find it, it's yours! Thirteen babies were born and raised in the house. Old timers speak of the Blue House being a hub of activity in the community with dozens of local children gathering there every day. The town of Tehkummah, established in 1866, is named after its founder, an Indigenous man named Louis Tekoma (b. Manitowaning). YOUR TRIP ADVISOR: I can give you excellent advice about Manitoulin Island and what activities and adventures might best be suited to your needs. I'll provide brochures and a guide book that lists things to do and places you won't want to miss, and I'll also provide my cell phone number so you can call me if you have any questions at all. I'm here at your disposal to ensure you have the best vacation possible. YOUR VACATION HOME: The Blue House has a sprawling main floor with 1 bedroom (Queen bed), spacious living room and family room (which can also serve as a bedroom) with access to back deck and fenced in dog yard, full bathroom and kitchen. The upper story has spacious master bedroom with King size bed, your own cupboard and dresser spaces, roomy spare bedroom with double bed and single cot. A couch in the family room and a portable cot provide extra sleeping space for larger groups. BACKYARD: A fire pit in the backyard is available, campfire wood provided. Propane barbecue, large picnic table with chairs, spacious deck shaded by a giant maple tree. The backyard is half an acre with many trees, raspberry bushes, and flowering gardens. WHAT'S COOKING: Fully stocked kitchen for the discerning Chef: Plenty of counter space, large main fridge and smaller bar fridge, Lagostini brand pots and pans, Sabatier knives (kept sharp!), garlic press, coffee and espresso makers, 'milk frother' for cappuccinos and frappes, panini press, woks, salt and pepper grinders (stocked full), double sink. OTHER AMENITIES, GAMES, ETC.: 51-inch TV with surround sound (plus Netflix for guests), Bose sound system, high speed Wifi, a piano (tuned), guitar, and djembe drum for music nights! A/C units and fans on both floors, woodstove in parlour (wood provided) and propane gas fireplace in family room, plenty of board games, colouring books and supplies for children, and other games and a variety of great books to entertain on rainy days (much as we hope you have all sunny weather!). THE VILLAGE OF TEHKUMMAH: Conveniently located close to the ferry docks at South Bay Mouth and easy driving or biking distance to the island's best beaches, Tehkummah is nestled among farms and cedar forests, bordered on one side by the Blue Jay Creek and on the other by the Manitou River. A short walk from the Blue House is R.A. Ward & Sons General Store, a vintage general store that has been in business since 1922. Ward's has anything and everything you can imagine, from milk and fresh local eggs to homemade (and delicious!) caramel corn, an LCBO outlet, Maple ice cream made by the island's own Farquhar's Dairy, and many other delights. Down the road is the Tehkummah Town Hall where the Farmer's Market is on display every Friday all summer long. There you'll find locally grown produce, and many handmade arts and crafts. Just down the same road is the Amish bakery with homemade breads, pies, cookies and cakes as well as local jams, honey and maple syrup. Tehkummah also boasts a fine dining restaurant called "Garden's Gate" and a breakfast/lunch eatery called "Garden's Shed". WINTER TRIPS: If you like cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or ice fishing, the island is one of the most beautiful winter destinations you can find. Although I (your host) live in the house during the winter, there are two bedrooms upstairs and a mini-kitchen set up for the convenience of guests who want to book during the winter. The bathroom is shared and you can still use the main kitchen when you wish, and there will be at least one friendly dog on the premises (possibly 2) - in addition to your host (me!). For this reason the price per night is very low indeed. There is a wood stove, oil furnace, and a propane insert in a fieldstone fireplace to keep you warm as well as an outdoor fire pit. In addition, there are several hockey sticks and other equipment for playing street hockey or 'broom ball' - a local winter favourite. Nearby there are fabulous trails for cross country skiing as well as skating rinks in all the major towns.
Tehkummah is the lushest area of the island and therefore the farming hub. The village itself is small and quaint, and all around it are farmer's fields and forests. It's extremely conveniently located, in between various sightseeing destinations and vacation stops, all of which are accessible by bicycle or car. Also only a few minutes from the ferry (to Tobermory). Many local Amish means you'll see horse drawn buggies here and there, plus they sell their goodies at the weekly Farmer's Market in Tehkummah and out of their homes around the village (breads, jams, maple syrup, fresh eggs, tarts, and pies).
  • This house was so beautiful! Beth was a great host and returned my messages within a timely manner. The locals were friendly and sites were beautiful. I recommend watching the sunset at providence bay along the beach.

  • We loved our stay at the Blue House. Beth was an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was spacious yet cozy, with many charming touches. The central location made it easy to explore the island. We hope to stay at this gem next year!

  • Beth's home is a special place to visit this special Island! Not only was Beth's hospitality top notch - her living space was spacious and warm and intriguing and creative. Perfect space for introspection, creativity, joy with loved ones, island exploration. Wonderful floral smells, wild thyme, little birdies at the feeder, all encompassed in creature comforts and the unique space of the historic Blue House. Come to relax, create, reflect and love. We did all of these things and it was the best vacay ever.

  • The Blue House was the perfect place for our family as we explored Manitoulin Island. Everything was as advertised yet somehow the house and host exceeded expectations. The house was so comfortable and there wasn't an amenity missing. We enjoyed watching the birds in the morning and thanks to the weather we got to enjoy the entire property - eating dinner on the spacious back deck. It was a wonderful part of our vacation. Thank you Beth for sharing this amazing property.

  • The Blue House feels like returning to a grandparents' summer cottage, even when having just arrived for the first time. From the enjoyment of watching yellow finches while at the breakfast table to the well thought out supplies (e.g. kitchen equipment), our stay had a nice balance between whimsy and practicality. The space was comfortable for the five adults to spread out between indoor (e.g. two family rooms) and outdoor (e.g. back deck) spaces. Meanwhile, the location made it easy to visit various areas around the island; while Beth's tips and resources were valuable on deciding where to go next. An enjoyable family trip to a lovely spot.

    Jl2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place! Very clean and has everything you need (and more!!) Beth is very quick to answer any questions/concerns you may have! Definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back :)

  • Beth's house is old, but adorable and very spacious. The backyard is also very comfortable with a deck and a fire pit area surrounded by greenery. Beth was a very helpful host and I would love to rent the airbnb again next summer.

We have a variety of cottages available for rent, each with a unique atmosphere. Five are located close to the waterfront where young families enjoy watching over their children swimming. Five are privately located on cliff-side waterfront.
Manitoulin Island is a beautiful destination for a relaxing holiday with many activities great for a new adventure, or someone who has been here before. Activities include hiking the cup and saucer, pow wows during long weekends, cycling trails, horseback riding, Bridal Veil Falls, a beautiful waterfall that you can swim under, and a variety of local shops and restaurants, etc. You will find it difficult to experience everything in one visit!
  • We had a great stay at this resort, everyone was super friendly and we were well taken care off, great value!

  • "Black Rock Resort" is a great little spot on the Island. We usually stay on the West end but decided to try something closer to the bridge and weren't disappointed. With a public boat launch right next door, it made for a perfect home base to catch salmon and lake trout. The host gave us some great fishing tips and was very friendly. There were several families there as it's very kid friendly. Kayaks, paddle boards, and a private dock make for a great time for those who wanted that sort of thing. The cabins were great, some new, some older, but all very well taken care of. We will be back again!

    Josh2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Will definitely be back.

  • Great place with an awesome waterfront and great views. My boys enjoyed swimming and using the swim raft immensely. Both Karen and Natalie were great and very helpful during our stay. I would highly recommend Black Rock Resort.

  • Lovely little cottage, spacious two bedroom, clean, well equipped, right across from water. This is a small community of cottages. Unbelievably quiet at night in spite of having other cabins close by. Manitoulin is wonderful and a hikers paradise. Much less crowded than other tourist destinations. Expect that most attractions are about 30 minutes away by car. on bad weather days, I sat in the sauna and jumped in the lake which was wonderful. this was such a wonderful vacation and the hosts were fantastic. Helpful and full of great recommendations.

    Steve2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • I liked the peaceful location and choice of several cabins. One morning a deer walked along the road right in front of our cabin. The location with regard to nearness to Manitowaning and the ferry was a bonus. The host was accommodating and easy going.

One of three rooms available (see our other listings), this cute room has lots of light and a view of the creek.
  • Boo’s place was the ultimate tonic! Fresh grown veggies, animals, fire pit, eating and laughing together.... it really felt like a family. Boo is a spectacular host and a huge character. She had so much local knowledge to share about the island, the local language, people to meet, spiritual experiences, organic gardening, animals, etc. She’s just brilliant. The place is very organic so if you’re looking for pristine and soulless hotel space this is definitely not it!!!! The room I was in was really cosy and felt like a little cabin or tent with a wooden roof. There’s loads of outdoors things to do on this beautiful island. Ten out of ten for this one. Bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

  • The farm is amazing and I invite you to learn from Boo about wild, gardening and Objiwe culture !

  • Boo's hospitality is amazing. Wonderful energy! Down to earth: the land, the outbuildings, the free-range chickens and rooster, the walking meditative labyrinth and the peacefulness of the countryside; beautiful and calming. Miigwetch Boo!

  • My stay at Boo's was a wonderful experience. She is a great host and made me feel so welcomed. My room was very comfortable and I enjoyed the fresh fruits and vegetables she grows at her farm. Her two dogs and her cat are adorable. Thank you Boo for a memorable stay.

  • Boo is a very kind and loving person and I enjoyed the time with her. My room was cozy, I could try vegetables and fruits fresh out of the garden and I enjoyed the quietness of the farm to rest. At the same time the location is a great hub to explore the island. Thank you for the good talks and delicious food :)

    Mareike2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Boo is a beautiful experience of being immersed in her world and seeing what it's like to live from the heart with passion and purpose. Her place is so full of life - her amazing dogs and cat as well as all the sounds of nature around the house. And a night sky filled with stars that is indescribable. Boo's home is like a very comfortable cottage including the room where I stayed for 3 nights. It was an unforgettable experience and one for which I am very grateful. ❤️

There was even a fire pit, plenty of wood, and neighbors, as well as Brenda, to help us enjoy our fire. South Baymouth is really a charming little town. I wouldn’t be surprised if Brenda recommended that they fly the US flag just for us!

This area is also known for great fishing. Launch your fishing boat on site for simplicity during your vacation. The cabin has a covered porch facing the water, a fire pit to spend your evenings around as the sun goes down, and plenty of lawn space for the kids to run around. Very easy access to the cottage.

  • Beautiful location, large property right on the water. Perfect for swimming. We regret not bringing our canoe! Tucked away but still close to town amenities. Loved our stay.
