We stayed for three nights for my husband’s birthday and wasn’t disappointed. A lovely little place in a quiet spot but close enough to amenities should you need them. A lovely clean modern lodge with a secluded patio area with a hot tub, which was fab watching the wildlife. Was even great in the wind and rain although a bit chilly getting in and out. Absolutely loved feeding the alpacas an added touch. Thanks for a great stay, would love to come back soon in the warmer weather.

Amazing property! Andy provides all the information you need regarding all the equipment in the property and also local supermarkets, pubs etc. We will definitely be visiting again in the summer to enjoy the Hot tub! Also the bath is amazing!

The place is in a lovely location, very quiet and private. The property is down a track road which is a little bumpy so if you have a lowered car you will struggle to get to the property (as we discovered) but luckily we each came in our own cars and we left the lowered car up the road. Every thing was perfect, the hot tub is absolutely amazing, very warm and very relaxing! The bath is also very nice. The bed was SO comfy also! That cat, I think is called Deisel? Let himself be known and he came in and sat with us for a while and he even napped on the sofa before going back off, he/she was very cute and gentle. The alpaca feed was a nice touch- We fed the alpacas in the morning before we left for work. The property has all the utensils you could possibly need from a cocktail maker to plates and cutlery etc. The only thing I'd say is about emptying the bin before you leave, I would have thought that would have come under the cleaning charge that you pay but it wasn't a problem and it got done. We WILL be booking to go back in the summer next month so we can enjoy the hot tub again and this time use the BBQ! We loved every second and we look forward to returning!

Unique and characterful stay in a fab location, Theo is a great host, we loved the welcoming loaf of bread and tasty homemade granola and the beautiful walks around the mill. Wish we could have stayed longer! Our teenagers and our dog were very happy too :-)

Unique and appealing, if you’re looking for a stay with a difference. The kitchen met all of our needs and the log burner was a the treat we were looking forward to- and it didn’t disappoint!

We've stayed at Theodore's mill twice now, and we really love this spot. Unusual space, really cosy, and a great location for exploring Suffolk.

Lovely space for a cozy weekend!

All the team is super professional, Mudi contacted us WhatsApp, sent a list of what we need to take with us. Driver was punctual and very careful as roads seem dangerous sometimes. Our guide Radi was extremely friendly and helped a lot while going down to the Diamond beach, we felt very comfortable and secured. Also we had an opportunity to have a nice lunch with local dishes on the way. Trip is a great value for money as you are able to see the best spots of Nusa Penida in one day. I fully recommend Mudi and his team!

Visiting Nusa Penida has been a dream of ours even since we decided to visit Bali and having Mudi as our tour guide for the day was the best decision! We have been on many tours in Bali, and personally we believe Mudi has been the most accommodating, caring, informative and flexible of all. The island offers stunning nature views and Mudi was not only our guide, but also our private photographer (he even lined up for us in the sun and heat and told us to stay in the shade until it was our turn to go). He has excellent knowledge of the island, Bali, the culture and religion and is extremely easy to get along with. Towards the end of the day, we still had some time to spare and Mudi took us to a nice, sandy beach with very clear water to dip in and cool down after a long and sweaty trek. Finally, if you are worried about not having enough food and drinks, don’t be - Mudi constantly asks you if you need anything and is happy to stop on the way to the next destination. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to book this fantastic trip with Mudi, especially as he is one of the very few to offer visits to both the West and East of Nusa Penida and for the price, it’s a bargain! Thank you Mudi! :)

We had an absolutely amazing day trip to Nusa Penida thanks to Mudi and his friend (our driver for the day). We visited the most beautiful and scenic places and even got an extra sight in. Our driver is local to the island and has expert knowledge of the area. We had the freedom to stay as long as we liked at each destination and even stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant after visiting the treehouse. Mudi even helped me through the booking process as I had never used air bnb before. We will definitely book again. 10/10 would recommend.

Amazing place to stay lovely and peaceful and the house was truly lovely it was really clean and had all mod cons the bathroom had an amazing bath and was lovely to relax and watch tv when you was in there. The house is truly lovely and it was lovely to see all the animals. Would definitely recommend this beautiful place and setting will def be going back

I stayed here with my wife a couple of weeks ago and have to say we had a great time. Kristina was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions. The place was very clean with some very luxurious touches (the bath and hot tub) and the Netflix account was a nice touch. There are some lovely places for walking and the local pubs are great. Lastly, Diesel the cat was amazing company and feeding the animals at the farm was good fun.

I stayed here for 2 nights for my 30th birthday with my husband and friends. It was amazing, all of us had such a good time and would recommend The Stables to everyone! Very clean throughout, hot tub was amazing, kitchen was well equipped, fridge/freezer was a good size too. Communication was great, I received messages about check in and when the hot tub would be ready, very polite. Diesel the cat is lovely, very affectionate, however did wake us up a few times in the night for food, was happy once fed. Feeding the alpacas was a highlight. We were all so sad to be leaving, it was such a relaxing break and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, very private. We will definitely be booking to come back soon. Thanks for a great stay!

A great and quirky property - fab for a weekend away with friends!

The house is very large and was a super venue for my mums 80th birthday lunch it allowed relatives coming from a distance to stay and spend a bit more valuable family time together. Despite being large it still feels cosy and made for a very special day. We were there in the winter so mostly stayed indoors but the garden is also super and it would have been lovely in warmer weather to spill outside and enjoy that space too.

A group of 13 of us stayed for two nights at Harry’s place for my 30th birthday and we cannot reccomend it enough! The house is huge, beautiful, quirky and was equipped with everything we needed for the time there! The bedrooms are all lovely and comfortable, little touches made our stay so easy like providing towels, speakers and logs for the fire! It’s a great location about 20 min walk from the station, great pub a few doors down, and a nice area for a walk down the road. There was everything we needed- and Harry was super quick and helpful with all communication, a fantastic house and stay!

We hired out this lovely house for extra accommodation for our daughters wedding. It was a perfect base for family and friends. It was brilliant. There are a number of large rooms in this beamed house and it wasn't a problem for the bride and groom not to bump into each other in the wedding morning. Kitchen has everything you need to cater for a large group . All our guests loved it here and it contributed to making the weekend very special . Highly recommended. Thank you.

We had a fabulous weekend in Braintree. The house is perfect for a family/friends get together. There’s plenty of living space, a large dining room table and a lovely spacious and very well equipped kitchen. It’s brimming with beautiful period features, it’s tastefully decorated and has oodles of character. It’s a short walk to the town centre too which is nice to wander around for a few hours.

Excellent place to stay and child friendly. Beautiful setting and ideal location for travel to Colchester Zoo and other local tourist spots.

Cozy, peaceful and traditional cottage. Good selection of board games. 15 minute drive to centre of Colchester. Powerful shower. Medium soft bed with crisp, clean bedding. Friendly host and animals. The dog named lettuce showed us the garden, where we bumped into Polly checking on her bees and her daughter’s horses. Would recommend to friends visiting Colchester.

We stayed at Horkesley Hall for 2 nights over a February weekend. This was our first experience of Airbnb and, thanks to a completely positive experience, it certainly shan't be our last. Polly is the most thoughtful host. From start to finish our stay could not have gone smoother. Her directions to the Hall were so thorough that I could switch the SatNav off. During our short stay, she sent periodic messages to check we had everything we needed, which, of-course, we absolutely did. Horkesley Hall is a majestic building overlooking beautifully tended gardens with farms extending out in every direction. We chose to go here because, having looked at the amenities, it suited our needs so perfectly. It permits well-behaved dogs to stay, has a log-burner (a wonderful, atmospheric log-burner that completes the setting) and is sufficiently rural to find real peace. We took our dog, Finn, on holiday with us. He got to meet the resident dogs: 2 charming dogs of real character. He got to stare at the horses - some of the finest horses I've ever seen. He got to see a lot of wildlife. Judging from the length of time he slept on his return home it's clear he enjoyed himself immensely. The living room is thoughtfully stocked with myriad supplies one might need. Even though we took a great store of food and provisions, we forgot a couple of things. But thankfully there was a more than adequate supply of things already there. And additionally, Polly had taken the trouble to leave a few fresh supplies for us: milk, eggs and butter, etc. The butter meant we were able to have a lovely steak on our first evening. And the cosy evenings really were the best part of Horkesley Hall for us. Chatting by the log-burner until late evening with a roaring fire and a bottle of single malt surrounded by such a beautiful, traditional setting. Exquisite. I'm sure Horkesley Hall would be tremendous in the warmer months, with the flowers in full bloom and the pool available for a dip. But for me it couldn't be better than the wind howling outside and the rain lashing whilst we sat, completely snug, warm and content in this magnificent setting. During the Saturday there was an open garden event whereupon people visited the Hall and grounds, stopping in the nearby church for refreshments. The event raised some £2000 for charity which is wonderful. I have to confess I took a guilty pleasure in knowing that these visitors were gazing up in interest and wonderment at the very place where we were staying. In short, our stay here - our first Airbnb - was simply wonderful and we thank Polly most sincerely for all her kindness and hospitality. We look forward to trying further Airbnb locations. And we certainly look forward to coming back to this wonderful spot in the not too distant future.

For a tree enthusiast this is a lovely place to stay. Sprinkles of yellow ginkgo leaves on dark green yew pyramids were enchanting in the frost. Some unusual trees - bald cypress, magnificent oaks and cedar...... so many! Everything else lovely too.

The house is a dream in the countryside! We had a wonderful stay. It is so lovely at Polly‘s house. We will return!

We had a really nice couple of days at Polly's place in Little Horkesley. The apartment is very comfortable and set within beautiful grounds. Our son loved exploring and running around with the dogs. Thank you for having us!

Chisholm's is quite charming. We were blessed with fine weather which enabled us to revisit our favourite walks and Inns before returning to enjoy a pot of tea and a nap in front of the fire. The extensive gardens are delightful and you may well be lucky enough to be escorted around by the lovely Mycroft and Lettice, Polly's dogs. It would be good to return to see how the gardens change with the seasons, so another trip is definitely on the cards. The cottage itself is cosy and has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Polly kindly provided the basics (bread, milk, butter, tea bags etc) so if you don't take provisions you can have a cuppa on arrival. The fire had also been lit which was a lovely touch. Chisholm's is so peaceful you can't help but sleep well and unwind, and we have returned home batteries recharged and feeling much better for our four nights away.

Comfortable cosy cottage in great location. Beautiful grounds and many public footpaths to explore. Lovely to be able to use the beach hut with access to a wide sandy beach. Excellent Sunday lunch at The Anchor in Nayland.

A real treat and a home from home to stay here once again. Alasdair and Reda are the perfect hosts ensuring my stay was trouble free.

Alisdair was welcoming and accommodating. He went out of his way to make sure everything worked well for me. The space worked surprisingly well and being totally dark helped ensure a good night's sleep.

A second lovely stay with Jessica. The flat was, once again, prepared with meticulous detail prior to my arrival. I expected to arrive late, but in the event arrived earlier than planned, and Jessica was very understanding and helpful nonetheless. A nice quiet stay in a great location for me, close to the Town centre and work.

Jess was a great host and pretty much gave me a tour and told me about the place as soon as I got there.. Nothing was too much trouble for Jess very kind and always willing to help, and communication was very good. The room bathroom and the whole of the flat was very clean. I will have no trouble returning when I next stay in Colchester. Thank You Jess

Valentina and Carlos are amazing hosts. Friendly, hospitable , thoughtful generous. I felt like I’d known them for ages. Valentina made sure I had a tea, she made me toast in the morning. I felt so much at home. Their home is clean, beautifully kept, and the are very welcoming people. I so enjoyed my one night stay and will definitely go back and stay again soon. Great location for a 15 minute walk to the Castle.

Geraldine was really nice and welcoming, after I ate my dinner one day she cut me a slice of her home made pie which was amazing. I definitely would go back if I needed to!

I had a very comfortable stay at Laura's place. The bed was comfortable and the house was warm. There was a very nice bathroom with shower and bath for my exclusive use. The light in the room had an LED bulb that could be set to many different colours - I set it to orange to remove the blue light that keeps you awake, and I slept very well! The whole place was very clean and tidy. I felt very welcome there.

Jennie's house is an especially lovely place and she is an amazing host! The location is brilliant and you can walk everywhere within minutes. The room is lovely, cosy, welcoming, and very clean, as well as the rest of the house. Jennie is a super fun person to live with, kind and caring, and she is very forthcoming. Everything to master your everyday life is there and if not, Jennie is always happy to help - also with all sort of advice. Her dedication goes far beyond a regular host, and she feels responsible for your well-being, in and out the house. I can highly recommend her place to everyone, who is looking for the best experience in lovely Colchester!

Walking into Jennie's house felt like walking into my own, so comfortable and Jennie such a dear person, great conversationalist and hugely warm. The house was clean and cosy, bed so comfy I slept for a solid 7 hours (a rarity) and the facilitates perfect. I would highly recommend! Thank you so much for making this such a great stay.

The landlord is very good and the room is very warm.

Jennies place is well located complete with a nice neighborhood pub, a large recreation area and two grocery stores. The walk into downtown is easy and only takes about 8 to 10 minutes. The walk to the University of Essex is a little longer but very pleasant and takes you along the canal. (Which if you get the chance check out the nature trail running from Colchester to Wivenhoe which is on the way to the University and follows the canal.) Jennie's house besides being well located is very comfortable and clean. Jennie made it easy for us to cook our own meals by providing us with refrigerator and pantry space and then we were able to eat those meals in her lovely garden. She has two of the most well behaved cats I have ever met and is a very warm person who will make you feel at home, I cannot recommend this accommodation enough!

Fabulous in every way. Great communication, fantastic welcome. Modern yet cosy cabin in very quiet spot at the bottom of the garden. Clean modern and highly functional facilities. Effective radiators in main room and bathroom should you need them which is a must. Loved this place it’s location is great if you want to be near all main routes. Kathleen’s place was very cozy!!! Small wood private cabin house with all the amenities that you can possibly ask for! Even snacks and breakfast!! 😁The only thing that the accommodation didn’t came with was a shower, Kathleen is offering that to her own home -few meters away. Extremely kind and quick to her responses!! Highly recommended

The best place to me

Superb little bargain. Stopped on one of the coldest nights of the year and was nice and toasty. Needed to turn the new heater off through the night as it gets too hot.

Really the perfect host very friendly and helpful, the place is kitted our very well and is warm and pleasant (first time with a heated blanket I would recommend) also in a very quiet location set away from the main road close to a country park and easy to get to town centre.

I’ve stayed quite a few times at Chanda’s when in the area. She is always welcoming and the place is clean, tidy, comfortable and very reasonably priced. Has an en-suite with a walk in shower which is a nice bonus. Would definitely recommend as a host.

I had a great11 night stay here in a nice room with a big cupboard for storage good shower plenty of hot water the kitchen was great with a big fridge and plenty of storage the parking was great and the flat is really central for town and sports centre I was going to stay another 11 nights but someone has booked most of them so hopefully next time

Sylvia & John are fantastic hosts. They have a lovely family home and make you feel warm and welcome. If I ever need to stay in Colchester again I will definitely stay with them as it was a fantastic b&b and a great location

Clean room, very friendly host.

The room is comfortable and well furnished with everything I needed, which made it possible to explore the interesting history of Colchester while also getting some work done on my research project. Sylvia and John are great hosts, always friendly and responsive. If you're traveling without a car the location is quite convenient, with efficient bus or train access to the city center or even the greater London area airports. The neighborhood is peaceful and there are quiet trails throughout the urban area and even far out into the countryside.

Sylvia and John provided a lovely single room in their family home - with a very comfortable bed and lovely touches such as a house manual, bottled water and snacks. I was very grateful for the flexible check-in time. Lovely family atmosphere in a quiet neighbourhood, about 10 mins drive from the centre of Colchester.

It was an absolute pleasure staying at Margaret's. She is a warm and happy person and an exceptional host. I personally found her exceptionally kind. Her house is close to the town centre (also close to bus station), clean, spacious with a large garden and space for parking. Overall, a great experience throughout my stay. Maragert is an incredible host. She's friendly, polite and helpful. The house is sparkling clean, the room is cozy and nice. She replies fast and we had a great communication. An excellent option. 100% recommended.

This is the cleanest AirB&B I've stayed in. Close enough to town to be close enough and far enough away to avoid all the goings on etc. Off road parking is a bonus. Host is pleasant and conversational without ever being intrusive.

Nicola was a great host, communication was very prompt when we first made contact to book and my daughter and I were made to feel welcome the moment the front door was opened. The accommodation was very homely and we love quirkinesses and that was what we found. The rooms were clean and comfortable and Nicola catered for our dietary needs. We love animals and it was lovely to meet Nicola’s dog who was very friendly and well behaved. Although the house is on a main road, the bedroom is at the back the house and we had a very good nights sleep, you could here the traffic passing if you were in the front room but that didn't bother us. If we visit Braintree again we would definitely stay with Nicola. Thank you Nicola you are a five star host.

Huge space with the whole floor to yourself so you can be privately separated in the house. Nicola was a great host and I would highly recommend this for others to stay!!

Wow, what a find! This amazing historic Tudor house is full of interesting artefacts and unusual decor. I fell in love with the period features such as the exposed oak beams everywhere, gothic window and beautiful barn style doors - honest and pure beauty! This place is a must if you love old houses with totally authentic character!! The facilities are great; a huge living/dining area with fridge/toaster/kettle etc, cosy bedroom and en suite. Nicola and her friendly dog are excellent hosts and totally respect your privacy. You have a self contained attic space which is totally private and separate with your own front door key. Thank you for a lovely stay in your home Nicola :) I hope to return in the future!

The house is gorgeous and perfectly located, and Nicola is a warm and gracious hostess with excellent communication. But the space is amazing, and the thoughtful extra touches she’s laid on really make you feel welcome and comfortable! Honestly, you can’t do better than to stay here.

Alasdair and his family are very welcoming and accustomed to hosting. They are wonderfully welcoming and helpful. We only had a short stay and was a quick turnover for us between places, but it was evident that everything is organised and well communicated. A set of insturctions were provided in the room if there was anything that we were not sure of and additional towel and hair dryer were provided in preparation for my competition the following day. I highly recommend staying and would not hesitate to stay again inthe future.

Nice place and convenient for work.

Very much enjoyed my stay here, Alasdair was a brilliant host explained everything clearly and offered any help that I needed while staying here. Place was very clean quite and well presented, would stay here again!

The room was beautiful. We stayed just one night because we were in Essex to visit family and then spent the rest of the time in London. Alasdair was extremely cordial and thorough. The entire home was very clean and orderly, with multiple rooms being rented out to other Airbnb guests or long-term renters. There are so many bathrooms in the 3 story home you'll hardly see anyone else in the home. The room is very lovely and feels very private at the end of the hall on the 2nd floor. We had rented a car and found street parking easy right outside the home within 30 meters. We would definitely stay here again if we're in Essex again to visit.

Good clean and value for money. In a very quiet village which obviously has its pros and cons foodwise but a good nights sleep!

Due to Coronavirus, my company has stopped all surveys. Lorrain was so understanding and communicated fantastically. I do hope to stay there when work comes back. If her place is only half as good as our communications, it will be fabulous.

I had a wonderful sleep in Lorrain's house. It's very good value for money, the room was very clean and even had a kettle and TV. I would not hesitate to recommend her house.

Geraldine is a very warm person. Being there I felt like back in Poland at my parents house. Very clean, nice place for study.

Excellent place to stay

Cannot recommend highly enough, Alasdair is kind, friendly and a very talented composer. The room was clean and stylish, very reasonably priced and the whole house was absolutely lovely. Other guests living there on a more permanent basis were also lovely and very welcoming. Had access to all household amenities for a small charge, and it felt like home in no time. Thank for such a lovely few days Alasdair, I'll be back next time I'm in the area!

I had a great time staying with Alasdair. The place is exactly as advertised, clean, comfortable, and Alasdair definitely goes the extra mile to make you comfortable. Also we connected over our shared love for music! Would recommend to anyone.

What an amazing place to stay! I had ac last minute change of plans but was able to stay here and I’m glad I did! The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Zena was very welcoming and a great host, and can’t forget about adorable Tommy giving me a warm welcome back everyday and occasionally the good morning too!
