When you want to get away from it all and relax, "Number 24" provides an excellent base close to the City of Dunedin. All the basics of a motel room, with the comfort of making yourself at home, plus the ambience of being in quiet natural surroundings. Past guests have come to explore the area, to hang out for a weekend with a friend, to write some more of their novel/thesis, to be out of town when visiting Dunedin for hospital/events, and to job hunt from a destressing base! We welcome you.
"24" is attached to our garage, and about 35m from our home - so self contained, but able to access our assistance if needed. One step up gets you into the unit, and the bathroom is recessed one step down off the living floor - accessibility is easy. A park for your vehicle outside the room, enables you to have easy access and come-and-go at your leisure. The area of Blueskin Bay boasts quiet cafes, a library, bush, beach, ecological interpretation, and a general sense of being in a rural setting whether you choose to drive or walk around. Being self-contained, "24" allows you to be on your own timetable. Heating in winter, and a fan in summer mean the indoors is always comfortable... and the small courtyard and seating beside the unit, give you a place to gently soak up the ambience.
Orokonui Ecosanctuary, Doctors Point Beach and Warrington Beach are all a short drive away. The Ecosanctuary is very special and their cafe is also great. Make time to visit the visitor centre at least 😀 In 15 minutes drive you can be in Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Karitane or Waikouaiti. Or reduce your carbon emissions while here and spend the time in the village - a grocery store, cafes, art galleries and the local library are all within 10 minutes walk. Orokonui Estuary Track is right across the road and is a 1 hr walking loop. Gallery on Blueskin hosts meals and live musicians several times a week. Blueskin Nurseries and Cafe are great for daytime dreaming and eating well. Harvey St Merchants boasts locally sourced fresh produce and great icecream (Th-Sun) . Waitati Design store is open Friday - Sunday. Home and decor deliciousness. Market Day is the first Sunday morning each month - an eclectic mix of craft, second hand, artists, local food. Lots of fun!

If you want peace and tranquility then Birdsong Bach is the place for you! For that weekend getaway to relax and unwind, this place is a must. By day you can sit on the deck and listen to the birdlife, explore the local beaches and walking tracks and by night curl up in front of the open fire and look out at the stars.
Set amongst native bush in the small township of Osborne, across the bay from Purakaunui and on the doorstep of the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, our bach is full of old school charm that oozes character. When we say character, we mean CHARACTER! Our bach does NOT have a flushing toilet. There is a quaint outhouse with a long drop toilet where you can sit and enjoy the view whilst listening to the birds!! There is a chemical toilet in the bathroom which can be used at night if you don't want to head out to the outhouse after dark.
Note: To get anywhere in the area you will need to drive. Turning left at the bottom of Albert Rd will take you to an area where you can park your car and walk to the beach. From this part of the beach you can explore Mapoutahi Pa Site, Purakaunui Bay and Canoe Beach. When the tide is low you can walk around to Doctors Point. If you turn right at the bottom of Albert Rd and drive to the bottom of Purakaunui School Rd (at the sharp corner before you head up the hill) you can park your car and walk to Purakaunui. The Orokonui Ecosanctuary is just 7km up the road where you will find a wonderful array of local wildlife and a cafe for your coffee fix! Drive 10km to Port Chalmers, an old shipping village, where you can explore the boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a local supermarket where you will find everything you need for your stay.
  • Keith and Jackie’s place is a cool, unique bach in an absolutely beautiful area of Dunedin. Communication was great and I had a really awesome stay. If you are a bird person, you will love the bellbirds and tuis and this area is also home to eastern rosellas!

  • Charming bach nestled amid other equally quirky abodes, with plenty of books, games and things to do on rainy days. Stunning estuary at the base of the hill was great for a run around the coastal trail. Loved our stay - but be aware that shops and cafes are a fair drive away, so bring supplies. But thanks for providing a fresh bowl of fruit Jackie and Keith. Highly recommended.

  • A lovely, clean and peaceful place to stay. Beautiful walks and beaches very close by. Really enjoyed the bach with the cleanest and least smelly longdrop I've ever used!!! Romantic lighting included :) My only slightly negetive comment is that the tall people in the family (not me) struggled with the low ceiling in the kitchen area and found the downstairs double bed a bit short - but they survived! And a real bonus being able to bring our dog on holiday with us. Thank you!

  • Perfect tranquil location with a load of quirky touch’s. would definitely recommend for a quiet getaway.

  • Much better than the photos - really cool, quirky place suited best to people who are after a place to relax and disconnect from their phones for the weekend ! Thanks for having us , can’t wait to come back again if you’ll have us 😊

  • Thank you so much for letting us stay at you most amazing bach, we were more than happy with everything! Your house has this old rustic charm that combined with the stunning surrounding and cosy mod-cons lends itself to a great holiday. Your thoughtfulness was also noted and appreciated - the milk in the fridge, the fresh apples, etc. Once again, thank you so much, hope we can stay in your bach again sometime soon!

  • A lovely weekend away at this quaint and comfortable cottage. It is as described although perhaps the garden is larger and prettier than I imagined. It was perfect for us and we only wish we had booked out the whole week. Perhaps Angela would be kind enough to host us again. Thank you.

Welcome to Swooping Pigeon. We live on a 50 acre lifestyle block which is 10 minute drive north of Dunedin. We offer you a private guest room in a new barn-style house with it's own entrance so you can come and go as you please. We offer a delicious continental breakfast with home made goodies. Please note that our place is not appropriate for 2 week self isolation due to there being no kitchen.
Our guest room has a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom with a great wet area shower. There are beautiful views out all windows of the house. Our farm is named after the big wood pigeons that you can hear swoop down the valley. The valley is very quiet apart from all the native birds you can hear singing. We provide a continental breakfast with home made muesli, locally roasted coffee beans and T2 tea. In the winter, you will be cosy and warm because we have underfloor heating! We also have alpaca who are always keen for someone to feed them:-) check out our Face book page on @4SwoopingPigeonAlpacaNZ
We live in a rural hilly area, rich in native birds and bush. The famous Blueskin Garden Nursery and Cafe is 10 minutes drive down to Waitati.
  • Absolutely perfect stay. Comfy bed, cute room, and loved the bathroom!! There was a heater and towel warming rack which I loved. Would definitely stay here again!

  • We loved our stay at Swooping Pigeon farm. We were spoilt each morning with the view out of our window and also by the fabulous home made preserves, jams, muesli and yoghurt that was provided for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Janine, Allan and Family

  • Fantastic stay. House is beautiful and surroundings magical. Fantastic breakfast with homemade preserves, muesli and bottled fruit. Bush road a little rough but not difficult if taken with care. Waking up to a chorus of birds and an enchanting view to the sea was priceless. Highly recommend.

I was so comfortable, I took an easy morning to enjoy the homemade breakfast goodies and say hello to the adorable alpacas. Wish I could’ve stayed longer. There is a gravel road leading up to the house so you may not want to drive in the dark. Highly recommend a stay here!

The Cottage is at the back of my house in the garden. It is a small sunny room with a lovely view over the garden towards Flagstaff, one of the highest hills above Dunedin. It is quiet and private. KANGEN WATER. The bathroom is down at the back of the house, aprox 30m from the Cottage. Hot tub. The perfect place to rest up from your travels. Five minutes drive to the Stadium or town. Stadium events, it may be possible to be dropped of. Other listings. Grandview Bungalow Grandview Tree House
The Cottage is a basic room with a double bed, there are tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. The kitchen in the house can be used for basics. I usually have a variety of cold drinks available for a small donation which goes to my favorite charities. The bathroom at the back of the house is always available. The bathroom in the house can also be used if perferred. I do live on a hill, so the Cottage is aprox 30m up from the house and therefore the bathroom at the back. The kitchen/dining/living areas in the house offers more space to relax and watch TV or a movie. Because I live in the house and host two international students and work it is a homely lived in space and a work in progress in some areas with regards to ongoing renovations and the large garden. There is also a room in the house available for accommodation. Check out Grandview Bungalow. Front room.
Opoho is on the hill above the Botanical gardens and is a lovely area to live in Dunedin. It is a short walk to the upper Botanical gardens. Signal Hill Lookout is five minutes drive up the hill. Wonderful view of the city and harbour from the lookout.
  • It’s lovely there and Gaye is a wonderful host. She accepted me very spontaneous and saved me therefore from another night at a horrible place. Thanks for that. I’m very sorry that I was only there for one night, would always return.

  • Good location, we walked back from a concert at Forsyth Barr Stadium, took about 40 minutes, ( in torrential rain!), be aware that the walk is on public pathway up a hill so you get a workout! Gaye is very accommodating as a host, the cottage was clean and tidy, we will stay again.

Our house began in the 1860's as a fisherman's cottage built for the local lighthouse keeper. Over the years it has eclectically grown into a unique rambling retreat. We have a spectacular north-facing view of the ocean with all day sun, no matter the season. This creative space, filled with birdsong, is for couples, solo adventurers, families, artists, writers, photographers, outdoor lovers or anyone looking to re-charge in paradise.
There are three shower areas at the house - one over claw foot bath, one indoor/outdoor with great views out to garden, the other as part of a separate ablution block. For photography enthusiasts, there is a built in dark room, but you will need bring your own chemicals, unless otherwise arranged beforehand. Big screen television not hooked to a provider, only for watching movies (DVD collection). Games, cards, puzzles and books provided.
Our house sits within the "town belt", overlooking Carey's Bay. Access is through a reserve and we always meet guests at the lookout and guide them down the rugged driveway to our private parking area. From the house there are various walking tracks. One takes you to down to Port Chalmers with its cafes, shops and galleries, another up into the countryside with spectacular Otago Harbour views. It is only 15 scenic kilometres from Dunedin and, in the other direction, great surf beaches like Warrington with its Hector dolphins and Aromoana with its penguins, seals and seabirds. Popular eating places include: the Historic Carey's Bay Pub and The Portsider in Port Chalmers. Visit New Zealand's tallest tree at the Orokanui Bird Sanctuary only a 7 minute drive on Blueskin Road. Charter a fishing boat in the harbour or go horse riding down the road. It's paradise at every turn.
  • Sprawling, retro, eclectic, historic... all these could be used to describe Lara and Phil's place. It's a big area, but however interesting the native hardwoods everywhere, the books, paintings and many rooms to explore... it is the view that you'll miss long after you've gone. Lara was very welcoming, and always on hand nearby to answer questions or sort recommendations. Port Chalmers is so close to Dunedin but so secluded... it's another world with the city right there if you want it, and empty beaches when you don't (Doctor's Point is a secret find!)

    John2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our ten-day stay at Lara & Phil's house in Port Chalmers was magical. Everything about the house -- its history, its stained glass windows, its views of Carey's Bay, its comfortable beds and cozy rooms, its well-stocked kitchen, itsgardens--was wonderful. And Lara is the best host ever. We've stayed in nine airbnb houses on this two month trip to NZ, and this was our favorite, hands down. Thank you, Lara!

    Jerri2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lara and Phil's place is beautifully tucked away in a private peaceful spot with lots of lovely walking spots close by! It has a super view out to the harbour. The house has a lot of history which we loved hearing about from Lara. We found the property to be really warm and comfortable even though the weather was not the best. The cats came to keep us company too and were friendly. Thanks for all the tips of where to go and a contact to get to and from the concert!! It was all much appreciated.

    Emma2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay at Lara & Phil’s place! Their house is much more beautiful than what we expected. The views are stunning and it’s refreshing to just hear the birds singing in the morning. Lara is very kind to drop us off and pick us up from the concert. This place deserves 6 stars! Will definitely go back 😊

  • This place looks amazing in the photos and it's every bit as good in real life. Loads of character, this is a fun and quirky historic house. Lots to do around here, we loved our stay.

  • If you were looking for some of the best views in Port Chalmers and a fun collective creative space, this is the place for you. Lara and Phil were warm and knowledgeable hosts.

This room is a sleepout at the top of my quiet secluded property with KANGEN WATER I call it the Tree House because It is in the trees. Part of the upper garden. It is a large room with a Queen sized bed and a sofa. Lovely view from the windows and the landing at the door. There are five steps up to the door. It is about 35 meters up from the house. Quiet and peaceful. Hot tub. The bathroom and shower are down at the back of the house. There is another bathroom in the house.
Quiet and peaceful. The bird life is in the trees beside the room, so it's not unusual to have Kereru ( native pigeon), Tui, Fantail, Bell birds, Kakariki (native parakeet). There is a kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Microwave. Small fridge. Heatpump. Warm up in the winter with a hot Spa pool is usually available for an additional fee. It is not far from the room in the upper garden. Extra towels are available from the house.
  • Wow! This little cottage was fabulous. Spacious and clean and sooo comfortable. Set among the gardens high on the hill. Bird song was everywhere. Gaye was a most hospitable host. Wish I had booked it for more than 1 night. You won’t regret staying at this wonderful oasis high up on signal hill!!

Stay with us in beautiful Deborah Bay on our 7 acres lifestyle block. We are 64 meters up on the hill so the view is absolutely spectacular. Only 20 mins from Dunedin and 3 mins from Port Chalmers cafes, restaurants, shops and pubs. A well insulated new 1 bedroom sleep out with a comfortable super king bed. The place is good for couples and can provide a new portable cot for a child under 2 years of age. If you're travelling with a child under 12 years of age we can provide a single mattress.
We are 10 minutes drive from Aramoana where you can walk on the historic Aramoana Mole, a bar that stretches far into the sea. You can see sealions bathing on the rocks and if you walk left from the car park on the beach there is a possibility for viewing yellow-eyed penguins as well.
We love living in Deborah bay, great atmosphere and amazing neighbours! 😊

  • Judith‘s place was a fantastic hide away from anything busy. Close enough to Dunedin for the busy city but also far away enough for a good night sleep without any traffic noise. The room is comfortable with all that‘s needed. And Judith and her husband thankfully helped us out with bread - as central Europeans we had underestimated Christmas day and closed shops ... Plus a number of great tips what to visit on our trips. We would always go back again.

This listing is for Room B (there is another listing for Room A and Room C which could accommodate another 2 guests each). The living room is shared with the host and the bathroom might be shared with other guests. The house is close to all facilities: 5 minutes walk to the supermarket, restaurants, cafés, bar, pharmacy, and Botanic Garden; 15 minutes walk to Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world. Accesses to town center, University and Museum are all within 30 minutes walk.
You can drive 5 minutes up to Opoho Look Out Point, where you can view the Harbor, the Peninsular, Dunedin City and the Pacific Ocean. Another 5 minutes drive can take you to the foot of Mount Cargill, where you can choose to relax in the park or climb up to enjoy a panoramic view of the whole Dunedin area and the Pacific Ocean, stretching your eyesight as far as you can at the top of the mountain. If you come by bus from north of Dunedin, you may get off at the bus stop of Botanic Garden, from which it's about 7 minutes walk to my place. If you have heavy luggage, please let me know so I can come to give you a ride.

  • Uncle's house is clean and welcoming, with air conditioning, and kitchen facilities are complete. I will stay here next time.

  • The landlord is very considerate, because in special times, bedding and towels will be sterilized at a temperature of 60 degrees or more.

  • Great house. Professor and husband are very nice. Teacher Jiang is still a native of Chengdu. The location of the house is also very convenient. It is quiet at night. Everything in the kitchen can be used, which makes people feel trusted and feel at home. Thank you for the accommodation provided by the two teachers and recommend it to all friends who travel to Dunedin.

My home commands a grandstand view of the Otago Harbour looking towards Dunedin city. It is in a quiet cul-de-sac, with nearby convenience store and cafes. The hills around the harbour lend a magnificent backdrop to the views from the living areas.
I live at Macandrew Bay on the Otago Peninsula beside the Otago harbour. I love the area for the friendliness and the quietness as well as for the stunning view. Room has the toilet next door and an ensuite shower and hand basin. The house is situated to have maximum sunlight and has views of the harbour down to Dunedin city. The bedroom is on the ground floor with garden just outside the window. There is shared living space. Guests may eat own meals by arrangement bearing in mind that I have a nut-allergy so neither take-out Thai food or peanuts are permitted. While unlimited wi-fi is available, showers are limited to two per person per day with a time limit for each shower of 10 minutes at the maximum. This is a reflection that this is a home not a hotel. Macandrew Bay is a quiet suburb of Dunedin with a dairy, art gallery, restaurant, pharmacy, primary school, Yacht Club, Bowling Club, Glenfalloch Woodland Garden and restaurant. There are very good restaurants in the city itself, such as Two Chefs, Pluto's, Nova, Jitsu to name but a few. The Botanic Gardens are a delight to wander through. Otago University, New Zealand's oldest university, provides a pleasant area to walk through with historic buildings cheek by jowl with modern ones. My home is close to a bus stop (the number 18 bus can be caught at the Bus Hub in Great King Street) The journey by bus takes about 25 minutes.
The neighbourhood is residential but the proximity to the Otago harbour makes my home a beautiful place to be. There is a walkway of about six kilometres beside the harbour (soon to be 8 kilometres) and accessible from the bottom of my road - about 200 metres away. The community is friendly and multi-ethnic. Our bus-stops are painted with themes taken from input from the adjacent residents. There is a small beach about half a kilometre away along the walkway and across the road from the beach there is a grassy area with a children's play area, This area has a few picnic tables with attached benches.
  • I got lovely, bed breakfast and facilities. Also privacy just when I needed it after an exhausting week of travelling. Noise from family up stairs may bother some but it was short and then perfect silence.

  • Lyn is a friendly, soft spoken hostess who provides a cozy room in a wonderful location.. Our stay was everything we expected and more. Our experience delivered every bit of what we seek from using Airbnb, a friendly host, engaging conversation, a private, comfortable space of our own, and a great location for our planned activities. Stay here, you will be glad you did!

    Carolyn2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lyn gave us a warm welcome and we settled into our comfortable bedroom with a private bath. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast with homemade blueberry muffins and stewed apricots. Lyn also spoiled us with her homemade jams and interesting conversation. Lyn went above and beyond and the price is more than reasonable. Highly recommend a stay at Lyn's home!

Experience the comfort of a beautiful straw bale eco-house. Just 20 minutes north of Dunedin it has views of Blueskin Bay and is close to several walking tracks, Doctor's Point beach and Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Off street parking. A cooked or continental breakfast is included. Private bathroom. A small restaurant is 5 minutes away or 2 course meals can be provided for $20 per person.
This eco-house is off grid, providing its own power, water supply and hot water. Shower in rain water heated by the sun! Be super comfortable while treading lightly on the planet☺
Waitati is a small community very active in the arts and sustainability. There are heaps of beautiful walks through bush and beach, and abundant wildlife. An Ecosanctuary, art gallery and cafe/restaurant are nearby.
  • Very clean interesting stay in straw built house off grid. Chris is the perfect host and made us very welcome in her home.

    Marion2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • I'd highly recommend Chris' place. A wonderfully interesting house, in a beautiful location just north of Dunedin. Chris was a delightful host and we would happily return when next in the area.

  • We had a lovely one-night stay with Chris and her little dog Poppy. Neither of us had ever seen or stayed in an eco house before and it was a really cool experience, we enjoyed the stories about the house being built whilst sitting by the roaring fire. Excellent hospitality and a nice little location away from the hustle bustle. We knew we were staying out of the city so it suited us perfectly.

this room has modern fittings and has had a mini makeover to turn this ex back packers into a desirable "central space". the room itself has it's own toilet and hand basin. There are shared showers in the building which are shared with 5 other tenants. Please note parts of our building are under renovation, this means parts of the building are slightly older than others. There is sometimes members of the house working on parts of the building which will cause minimal to no disruption.
"central space" rooms is a complex of studio rooms and single room. the building is nestled in the central business district. Please note this is a multi-tenanted building.
located just a skip away from the octagon, this CBD complex is walking distance from everything you need. Located above a bar in the City Centre we do have some street noise and some bar noise however bar closes early.
  • Great location and accomodation for a short stay , had everything I needed. The only thing is the room is located directly across from the only stairwell and the only entrance way for the rooms so this got a little noisey . Other then that would stay again.

    Sapphire2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, good value for money and a handy space. Remember it’s a student town so I used earplugs as they were yelling in the street and it was noisy till about 2am. Hostal kind of place with friendly people and a helpful host.

I could use the kitchen and the wash machine very well! I loved this place. Kelly and all people that live in this building are so friendly and they are happy all time! Kelly always was available to help me when I needed.

A big sun facing deck, separate kitchen/lounge. 1 min to bus stop. Unlimited Wi-Fi, great reception. Lots of Dunedin resource books and brochures in lounge. Use of whole house. Beautiful garden. Kitchen stocked for cooking. Washing machine and dryer for your use. Free parks in street. 1 other room listed www.airbnb.co.nz/5414631.
A warm, comfortable, sunny home with an easy going female host that lives a block away. Lovely back gaden, deck and rural views in quiet st. Home is 1min to bus stop and 5 minutes to town. Landlord a Libran who loves FUN and meeting new people. I live 5 mins away from the best overall lookout called Mount Cargill Lookout that provides guests with an excellent overview of the lie of the land in and around Dunedin. I suggest you checkout my guidebook when planning your trip as there is much to see and do in Dunedin. There are 2 rooms available, each with separate listings on Airbnb, each at 39 per room. Each has built in wardrobes and this one has a Queen size bed. Linen provided and new Smart Strand carpet throughout the house. The room has a heater and the house is heated by a nightstore that I leave on all the time. Guests are welcome to light the open wood fire in the lounge and there is a heater in kitchen that warms up immediately. The room has a small TV that has over 15 NZ channels to choose from. Entire House. There is a fully equipped kitchen, with new fridge. Unlimited wireless internet. Free parking in cull-de-sac street. A huge deck and barbeque out the back, facing the sun. Lovely rural outlook and garden. Both rooms have separate locks on doors. A new large capacity washing machine and dryer. Walk in tiled shower area. All amenities/utilities are shared with up to 2 other guests. Kitchen dining area leads to huge deck. Big lounge is there just for my airbnb guests and has an open wood fire that can be lit by guests.. Dry bags can be purchased at local petrol service stations or wood merchants for 10-15 NZD. The lounge has a flat screen TV, 12+ channels available. Lounge has a big comfy couch for those cold winter nights, and your TV viewing pleasure. Lounge includes a separate space where guests can relax or eat in private if shared dining is not your thing.. The lounge has sliding doors leading to the deck. The deck is north facing for the sun, and kitchen also leads to deck. I live just two blocks away in a house that I share with my friend Karl whom you may meet. I am happy to pop up and say hi upon arrival if you let me know arrival time. Otherwise, I leave you to it. If I do come up to property I will let you know. Its generally to change a bedroom or put the rubbish out etc, and will never be before eleven!, that's am. On one side you have a childcare workler carol and Allan who have lived on the street for 30+ years (sth side), on the north side you have a young couple named Justin and his lovely partner, she is a kindergarten teacher and he runs a concrete business. At the back of this house is a church. So, I see this place which I did live in for about seven years, as very safe. Everyone knows everyone and everyone knows who is who, and will probably recognise you as more of Kelley's gyests,as you will be unfamiliar to them, or your car will not be the usual cars in the street. Carol and Allan on the South side are particularly good neighbours. Always helpful and always have time for a chat. I would trust them with my life! This home is located in a private, quiet no exit street. We have a close knit community here in Pine Hill and are visited by kids and other residents regularly. At the end of our street we have Dalmore Reserve a huge track of land that has paths that lead down the hill to the Gardens North east Valley (not a walk for the faint hearted), the views are outstanding, and if there is a concert happening at the Stadium, you can go to the Reserve and listen for free! the Reserve gives you views up to the main street of Dunedin (George/Princess St), to the Octagon and the Harbour and surrounding suburbs. Great at night time. Pine Hill is very close to the city and the buses run to town regularly ($2.60 to the central city from Pine Hill) Another point of difference, dunein is home to speieghts breweries. At that location you can park and line up for fresh underground springwster. Not many people know about this amazing resoucrce Central city at a cost of $2.60 NZD. The bus stop is two minutes walk from here. Go one house north of here and you will discover an alley that leads to Pine Hill Road and a sheltered bus stop that takes you directly to the Centre of town (Octagon) or Gardens New World Supermarket at the bottom of Pine Hill. If coming from the airport I recommend booking the airport shuttle as the half hour ride will cost 70NZD + by taxi. If coming by bus, the intercity bus depot is located in the middle of an industrial area, and I strongly recommend not attempting to walk from there up to Pine Hill. Its far easier to catch a taxi (around 20 NZD). The most unique thing about this space is that it is very close to town, but also very quiet and safe and I am just a few minutes away if any issues arise. There is a TV in the lounge that is set up for airbnb guests, 12+ channels available. There is a flatscreen TV in your bedroom with 12+ channels available. Sometimes guests leave firewood behind for the next guest, so I try to have it set and ready to light, by you, on arrival. You can purchase dry bags of firewood from local wood merchants or most petrol service stations stock firewood by the bag for 15 _25 NZD. At the end of the street is the Dalmore Reserve, and Dalmore Reserve Community Garden that I am involved in. Pull a weed, grab a feed. All manner of herbs and veges growing down there. Its been up and running a little over 5 yr. Look us up on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), "Dalmore Reserve Bandit Gardeners"
Pine Hill Road leads to the Mount Cargill Look Out, you can see the transmitter on the top of my hill as you drive towards my place. The transmitter can be driven right up to and it is from here that you will get the best overview of the terrain around Dunedin, you can see right out to the end of Otago Penninsula and the entire Dunedin City. Its ten minutes up the hill by car from my place. ten minutes down the hill is Baldwin Street (worlds steepest street), and we are also ten minutes from Cadburys Chocolate World and also less distance to the Forsythe Bar covered stadium.
  • Such a lovely house, great location. Only a $7-10 uber into town

    Mikayla2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Good location with city buses passing by very close. If you’re fortunate, as we were, you’ll have the house to yourselves. Lovely garden and deck add to the allure. Not sure about heating if you’re there in the winter. Room heater worked great though. House is a bit antiquated but the shower is quite nice with no step up. All in all a great value and a nice experience.

  • Kelley's place is a little gem. Handy to the motorway and city, but quiet and peaceful. Very comfortable.

  • My stay in Dunedin was a pleasure in no small part to Kelley. Her attentiveness to every aspect and room of the house made it feel comfortable and like home. Despite the city center being conveniently only minutes away the view from my room of her lush garden was relaxing. Kelley made certain to share her insights and point out not just the major attractions to Dunedin but also the hidden secrets. Be they an unfamiliar hike on the outskirts of town or a reserve just down the block her sincere effort in making every guest feel comfortable, her kindness and empathy were appreciated by all who visited. Very much appreciated

Warm modern comfort blends seamlessly with character features to create a unique living experience with uninterrupted water views you’ll love ! The apartment has 2 full sized bedrooms with queen beds, a smaller child’s bedroom with a single bed and a sofa bed in the lounge. A beautiful kitchen and living room awaits you that overlooks the stunning Dunedin harbor. This large apartment of 100 square meters has been beautifully refurbished and is situated within the iconic Tiger Tea building.
Just 5 minutes drive from the CBD and 1 minute to the stadium makes this the perfect spot to base yourself during your visit to fantastic DUNEDIN !
Settled in 1854, Ravensbourne is one of Dunedin’s oldest suburbs, by virtue of its proximity to Otago Harbour. In fact, while Port Chalmers was home to the sailors and wharfies of the day, the captains and their contemporaries lived further afield, on the road towards town. This included Rothesay, as Ravensbourne was then known. For this reason, there are a good number of older impressive houses still to be found in the suburb.
  • The Tiger Tea building is a perfect spot for couples or a family to stay. Close to town, amazing view, spacious bedrooms and lounge and the kitchen was perfect! Wonderful clean accommodation, we will be back 👍🏻

  • Apartment was everything we expected and more. The descriptions is spot on. Bedrooms extremely comfortable and roomy. Bathroom also spacious. The outlook and space in the kitchen & lounge area bright and comfortable. Location a little out of the main town so I would recommend having a car. Taxi though is on call and will cost between $12 to $15 dollars a trip. I would not hesitate recommending Jon’s apartment to family or friends.

Perfect base to explore Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula, and view from the air bnb was amazing as well. Very cool old building, loved our stay here!

  • The house we live in is with the owner, separated from each other, but relatively independent, and is a Chinese couple. The overall feeling is good. But the kitchen is too simple. The stoves and cooking utensils are too simple compared to New Zealanders. Fortunately, the landlord male owner provided some of the things we needed, but it still feels difficult to use. It is recommended to add more kitchen utensils and cooking utensils. The host is still nice. Tell us where to buy masks and give us three simple masks. Thank you!

Come stay and enjoy the natural beauty of the Peninsula in our self-contained guest accommodation specifically designed for comfort with all the mod cons. We are located in Company Bay, 15 minutes from the Dunedin CBD. It has a semi-rural feel but vibrant enough not to feel out of the city. Wake up to peace, birdsong and views of hills and harbour.
The 2 bedroom unit is accessed up a seperate pathway to the back of the house to its own entrance and is completely private and separate from the main house. It’s has a separate bathroom, separate toilet and a kitchen/laundry area. The kitchen has hot plate, microwave, toaster, jug so you can make simple meals. With double glazing, great insulation in all the rooms combined with a heat pump which converts to a cooling air conditioner you have perfect comfort and temperature control. One of the bedrooms has a king single bed and fold down sofa and combines as a living area which overlooks the Otago harbour. The view is the perfect sunny spot to have brekkie and a steaming plunger coffee or cup of freshly brewed tea before heading out to all that the Peninsula has to offer.
Whether you just want to hike the hills, walk the amazing beaches with its range of wildlife including albatrosses, penguins and seals, do the touristy thing at Larnarchs Castle, partake in the amazing award winning cuisine at Glenfalloch Restaurant & Gardens, or just stroll to Macandrew Bay for an ice cream on the beach, our home is central to it all. You can buy groceries at the Macandrew Bay store which is 5 minutes drive or 10 drive to Portobello Store. There is also a pub, cafe and restaurant at Portobello.
  • An excellent base for enjoying the Peninsula. Everything you could possibly need and lovely touches like milk and bread to settle in. Highly recommend.

  • A great place to stay. Loved the washing machine, the full bathroom with bath, Netflix and the whole loaf of bread, milk and condiments. A really quiet spot away from the city but close enough to be there in 15 minutes. One of our better Airbnb stays. Highly recommend.

    Kate2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Geoff's B&B is a wonderful place to spend a few days in Dunedin. It is about 15 km outside on the peninsula to the Albatross and Penguins Watching Center. Very quiet and totally clean. Lots of space, a bedroom, a living room, a small kitchen and a great bathroom with separate toilet. We felt very comfortable and would highly recommend this accommodation.

  • Brand new extension with good bathroom in an ideal location. The internet access was a bit shaky, but the cell phone reception was great with Spark and Vodafone. Otherwise everything was great, warm shower, comfortable bed, everything as described. The host received us personally and gave good tips, we would recommend the accommodation.

Breakfast and free WiFi close to town and Baldwin St but far from the hubbub! Wake up to the sound of the morning chorus. This area of town has an abundance of birdsong. Head out to the private backyard on a sunny day and have a drink or breakfast under the umbrella. We are in a relatively quiet, private spot, close to the main route into town and very close to a number of attractions and amenities. The bus stop is literally around the corner, and it's only a 10 minute drive by car to town.
A sun-drenched room to wake up in, with a very generous wardrobe, we have all the basics covered like WiFi access, FreeView TV, twin electric blankets on a queen bed, heater, fan, alarm clock and clothes horse. The bathroom next door has precisely that - a bath as well as a shower, and the window opens out onto a modest view of the plum trees. Towel and soap et cetera are provided. The kitchen and living area are open plan and look out onto the private backyard where you'll often see our hens roaming the property. We've got the usual basics covered, and you're very welcome to use the washing machine and dryer. Skin-friendly laundry powder is available for use. There is normally ample parking space on the street.
Go for a 15 minute stroll down picturesque Norwood, watching for pukeko wandering through the grass, past Forrester Park and you're in Bethunes Gulley, where you can sit down and have a picnic by Lindsay Creek or dip your feet in the water, have a BBQ, or be a child and swing on the swings (one of our favourite pastimes!). From here you can also hike up to the top of Mount Cargill which is a reasonably relaxing walk, and you'll meet plenty of locals on the way. A one minute walk from the house in the opposite direction, past the Normanby Tavern on the corner, and you're in palatial Chingford Park with Lindsay Creek continuing past the historic stables building. Wander through the trees or play a game of frisbee. Just a ten minute walk from the house in the same direction is Baldwin Street, which up until recently was considered the world's steepest street. It's certainly still the steepest short street in the world, having an impressive gradient-to-length ratio. Climb the street by foot and get a fun 'Certificate of Completion' afterward if you want. Just before Baldwin Street is the local dairy, and about a minute's walk down the road from Baldwin is the nearest of the two local fish and chip shops. A couple of minutes further along and you have a café and mini 'artisan'-style grocery store, as well as a Japanese restaurant. It's also at this point that you'll find a fuel station.
  • Lovely to be so close to town but feel like you're in the country, peaceful and quiet. Fiona is a very welcoming host who made me feel comfortable straight away. Her home is full of cute quirky touches like Kiwiana, vintage coasters, pet chickens and even an Op Shop! Highly recommend this place as a unique and handy retreat.

Modern sunny home quiet suburb. Owner works in economic development. Great local knowledge. Listing is for very comfortable queen sized room and bed. Close walking distance to Botanic Gardens (5 min), Otago University (20 min) and Stadium (20 min). Warm welcome for sure! Host is a foodie - LOVE cooking and matching wine - meals can be negotiated or referral to great cafes and restaurants. Dog lovers welcome - golden retriever puppy in residence (Daisy).

Comunication was good. Location is good, very close to the botanic garden, which is beautiful, and easy to reach by bus. Complimentaries were very much appreciated. Highly recommended! Thank you Fi

A cozy, sun drenched space to soak up the spectacular views in every direction of Mount Cargill to Blueskin Bay and Warrington Beach. Enjoy the unique holiday that our tiny house brings if you are after a romantic getaway or a family break. Let time pass as you relax indoors or out, watch the ships coming and going out of Dunedin Harbour, take a walk in the forest or drive 3 mins to the local brewery or beach. Let yourself in when you arrive, and enjoy your time on our lifestyle block.
The Tiny House is set on a large lifestyle block of land. It is very quiet and peaceful. There is one bedroom and a fold out couch. The space would be suitable for two adults with or without a maximum of two children (that could share the fold out couch). You could use the space for two adults but it would be very cosy. Please note that you can not stand up in the bedroom, but there is enough space to move around. Also the stair case is steeper than normal stairs so wouldn't be suitable for someone with limited mobility. There are board games to play but no wifi or tv. We keep it that way on purpose. There is perfect reception if you need it and have mobile data. There are limited curtains at Ti Hou. It is beautiful to be able to look out at the amazing view and sunrise and to use the natural light to tap into your circadian rhythm. The windows are all double glazed and there is a heater so it's nice and warm. There is a fully functioning kitchen and bathroom. The toilet is composting and there are very simple instructions to follow (there is no flush but it works perfectly fine). The toilet will be empty/clean on your arrival. You do your business over the course of your stay and cover it with wood shavings, there is no smell. We take care of the disposal after you leave.
The Tiny House is situated above Blueskin Bay. Arc Brewery is a few minutes drive away. There are a couple of great cafes and a dairy in Waitati Village 5 minutes drive away. The closest supermarket is in Dunedin, 20 minutes drive away. There are plenty of beautiful beaches close by (where you may be able to see penguins, seals, sea lions and other wildlife) as well as other attractions including: - Warrington Beach - Doctors Point Beach with caves - Karitane Beach - Orokonui Ecosanctuary - Purakanui Beach - Long Beach - Port Chalmers
  • Amazing Location, A++ place to stay.

    Lauren2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house is perfectly quiet and peaceful. Sleeping on that bed felt like sleeping on a cloud. It was very relaxing to unplug and enjoy our surroundings, even on a cool windy night. Very clear and easy instructions included inside the rental. I’d definitely stay again.

An much photographed piece of history...the Futuro spaceship, tethered at the beachside settlement of Warrington north of Dunedin. The spaceship has magnificent views from its porthole windows. Known as a Futuro it is one of very few to have survived throughout the world and attracts enthusiasts who are delighted to stay aboard. The spaceship boasts comfortable, fully equipped accommodation, ideally suited to a couple, but can be made family friendly as required for your journey into space.
  • A one of a kind experience. Loved it! I've always been fascinated by the Futuro houses and getting to spend a weekend in one was awesome. So quirky. Beautiful location & views. Friendly host.

Have a warm, cozy and comfortable experience while you stay in a vintage villa on nature's doorstep. Some of Dunedin's most beautiful walks literally start from outside the front gate. Enjoy the best of what Dunedin has to offer without the need to travel far. Everything is in close proximity. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast consisting of cereal, toast, yogurt, assortment of jams and spreads and tea or coffee, before they embark on their day’s exploration or next journey.
There are several restaurants in walking distance from the villa. The bus stop is very close to the house - virtually outside the gate. If you enjoy walking Woodhaugh Gardens and Ross Creek are very close and great to walk. The University of Otago and city centre are also in walking distance from the house.
The neighbourhood is safe and usually quiet. There are many bush areas close to the villa hence we are close to nature. At the same time we are also close to town. However as we are in an urban city care should naturally be taken safeguarding your belongings and property.
  • Nice cozy cottage just a short walk away from city centre. Very good value for money, clean and a friendly host.

My home is 15" walk to town, 20" to university, polytech: stadium 25". Bus stop close. Perfect for: couples, explorers, business/conference travellers, peaceful and healing for the travel weary. I live here and share my home with guests. Of course you can cook in my old fashioned kitchen. I've lots of books, art, piano and harmonium. No pets. Free parking in my home's driveway. Both Dunedin's hospitals are close if you are here for an appointment.

The house is available for the NZ lock down period for long term stays only and needs to be vacated immediately once the lock down is over. The house is located in a lovely neighbourhood overlooking the Dunedin harbour bay. The house and garden is surrounded by a big hedge and the street is very quiet. The setup and amenities in the house are basic, but the view and big lawn will make up for it. Fast fibre max internet connection is available.
The house is located in the lovely neighbourhood of Maia. From the kitchen, the lounge and the 3rd bedroom you will get stunning views of the water. It is just a 5min drive to the city & stadium. The house is located in a quiet street, away from the main street. Public transport to the city is available, if you just walk down the hill. You can also access the water walk way easily from there.
If you walk down the hill, there is a jogging and biking track. Also there is an outdoor gym by the water.
  • Super quick response, beautiful place to stay!

    Kimberly2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely three-night stay here (3 adults and 2 young children), enjoying first and foremost the view, the generous space and the relative closeness to Dunedin and the Otago peninsula. It is a wonder of light! The ad very accurately describes the amenities as quite basic, and the general standard is low - but it’s clean and things work fine. I’d be concerned about heating if visiting a cold winter night, since there is just one heater far from the bedrooms and the windows are single-glass.

  • Jo is a super host. She is warm, friendly and very accommodating. The cottage is super comfy and sparkling clean. We enjoyed our visit with Jo and chatting for hours. Just a pity we couldn't stay longer.

  • My friend and I really fell on our feet by finding Jo and her amazing little home. It was so cosy, peaceful and very relaxing. Ideal for a weekend get away or as we found out, a mini health retreat! Jo was friendly and instantly made us feel welcome. What a great place to go if you need re-energising or just to get away from the chaos of the city. Highly recommended.

There is a good bus service two minutes walk from the house. The Botanical gardens is a 15 minute walk down the hill.
Tea and coffee is available in the kitchen. Basic meals can be prepared in the kitchen. You can use the living areas to watch TV or relax. The bathroom is next to this room.
It is close to the Forsyth Barr Stadium, Botanical gardens, the Gardens shopping area, New World supermarket, Cafe, Inch Bar, a verity of eating places. This part is for Room C. The room offers two single beds (one is a king single bed). The living room is shared and the upstairs bathroom is for guests.
This house is located in a No Exit street with little traffic. Only people live here would come up, so it is very quiet. It is also on the sunny side of a valley, with rural mountain views in the distance.
  • I had a wonderful time at this location. The room was spacious and the desk provided a great space to work! Some great local cafes within walking distance, and the steepest street in the world is just down the road!

  • Especially happy and warm accommodation experience. Give me the same warmth, the food is super invincible! I eat two bowls of rice every time, knowing that the bowl of haithin is very big! The two are university professors who have given me a lot of pertinent employment advice. Super like them! Mr. has been to many countries, and haithin has suffered a lot during his youth. They have been working hard to face life positively, and now have the superior living conditions, I have to learn from them! The house is very welcoming and the location is invincible. Close to downtown, next to the university. When I checked out, I quietly left without saying goodbye. Did not dare to say goodbye. I am afraid that I will cry out. Because it is really sad. I will definitely come back again. I hope that I will be two people next time. Haha. Blessing Haithin and Mr. are in good health and safe!

A light sunny sleep out that is private and nestled in the back yard of my home. You will need to share kitchen and bathroom with me...but nau mai haere mai (welcome!) There is a stunning beach that is a two minute walk away from my home that offers magnificent ocean exploration.
Kia ora my place is nestled at Longbeach Dunedin NZ, a 10 minute drive to Port Chalmers where you will see Cruise Ships in Port or a 30 minute drive to Dunedin City Centre where there is a plethora of exciting things to see. There is rock climbing, swimming, boogie boarding at the front door
A small eclectic neigbour hood of ocean dwelling occupants.

A modest, 2 roomed kiwi cottage on a hill, 1 mins walk to bus stop and 5 mins by car to the centre of the city Lots of art and interesting kiwiana, books about Dunedin. A lounge for guests. I live with friend Karl just a block away, so can be there almost immediately to resolve any issue. The link to the other separatly listed room is www.airbnb.co.nz 5421851. The kitchen is set up for cooking, with the basics. Heater in room. Washing machine/dryer. Street is a quiet cul-de-sac with <20 homes.
This is a quiet street with rural mountain views, very warm, sunny, comfy and only 5min to central city/uni. House has two bedrooms listed on Airbnb. I'm a chilled kiwi and I live with my dog; "Faddi", in a flat just a few blocks away. You get the whole house to yourselves unless there are other guests booked, frequently over winter however you will find you have the whole house to yourselves. Where there are other guests booked I let you know there first names and country of origin the day before you arrive. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked (spices, sauces, tea, coffee, milk etc) for cooking, please just help yourself. Your room has a new 32in TV, with 26 freeview channels. There is a sunny north facing deck that looks out to the mountains and my big back garden. This is one of two rooms available. House has separate lounge, kitchen/dining. Open fire if you want it. TV in lounge. Each room is separately listed on airbnb. Most of the rooms have heaters. You get to use the whole house as I no longer live in the bus. Faddi , my dog is not allowed in the house and is not on the loose. I can pop up to introduce mysed Faddi and answer any questions when you arrive. I have had many travelers comment on the comfort of the bed and the good nights rest they had at mine. The rooms are not adjacent to each other, but rather separated by a hallway and a lounge, so privacy is assured. Each room has its own deadlock for your security and peace of mind while away from the house. You may wish to add your mug shot to the wall in the kitchen. I suggest you check out my guidebook when planning your trip as there is much to see and do in Dunedin. Not the least of which is Mount Cargill Lookout just ten minutes up the hill from my place. You can see the Mount Cargill transmitter from my back deck, on the hill and you can drive right in under it. The views and sunsets are outstanding and give you a good idea as to the lie of the land and the spread of Dunedin. Entire house. Unlimited wireless internet. Free parking. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook and is easy to navigate. I am happy to interact as much or as little as guests wish.. I am also happy to answer questioins from guests and have a range of brochures, maps and books to help you decide how to spend your time while in Dunedin. There are bus tours available from the Octagon out to Otago Penninsula (penguins, albatross colony, Larnachs castle, seals), a favourite route for many travelers. Its approx 35-45 minute drive, a 70km round trip from my place. This is a very quiet city suburban street. House has a northerly aspect and thus the sun comes up in the kitchen in the morning and travels around the deck to the lounge in the afternoon. The house is newly insulated and carpeted and really is quite warm and comfy. We are five minutes from Baldwin St (worlds steepest street), five minutes from the stadium. Pine Hill is very close to the city centre without the noise of the city! Five minutes down the road is the Gardens New World (1 North Road) supermarket, and also in this small shopping precinct, a couple of bars and cafes, including the Inch Bar often has live music, Filladelphios have fine pizza and a range of wine and beer, there is also an Indian and a Thai food outlet at the Gardens shopping precinct. The gardens also boast NZs oldest established Botanical Gardens and Cafe'. There is also a dairy just two blocks north of my place on Pine Hill Road for morning paper etc. To the north of the house one house along, is an alley that leads directly to Pine Hill Road and a heltered bus stop that goes to the city centre (Octagon) and from there to other suburbs. Look for the bus with "Pine Hill" on it to get home from town. The bus timetable is in your guidebook in your room, pages 22-24. If arriving on foot from the airport there is an airport shuttle service, $20.00 NZD airport to gate. If arriving via intercity buses, Dunedin is very hilly and I recommend catching a taxi from the terminal to here for a little more than 10NZD, intercity terminal is located in the middle of an industrial area. To find out about local events that may be on during the time of your stay please go to (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN)
Dalmore is very close to the city centre, and even closer to the Gardens New World Supermarket on North Road, and includes several pubs and eating places. In the kitchen you will find on the windowsill a new world club card, this entitles you to the many specials at the Gardens New World Supermarket. Otago University is also very nearby (Halfway to the centre of the city). The city centre is known as the Octagon and the buses travel from here to the Octagon along George Street. George street (Octagon end) is where the main shopping places are. The house has all new double glazed aluminium windows and doors.
  • This airbnb has everything you can wish for, and everything it tells is there! I loved staying there for a couple of nights and had the luck the other room just had a guest for one night: I had the whole house for myself most of the time.

  • Great little house. It has everything you need and is real close to town. Communication was great and it was all good.

    Thomas2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice place to stay and a wonderful host. Definitely need a vehicle though, as it's at the top of a very large hill. My only complaint about the house itself is that the shower has quite low water pressure, but that's certainly a first world problem.

  • Kelley's home is perfect for Dunedin. I was a solo traveller so I needed some access to bus services so I could not have to worry about having a drink and the number 6 service is excellent. The home is beautiful and the outside views are wonderful. The shower room was brilliant and had I wanted to cook I could have. Another brilliant Airbnb from my NZ stay. Thank you, Kelley!

    John2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kelley's place is lovely, very cosy, home away from home, everything there you could possibly need. Great gardens and decking to enjoy a wander in or relax in/on and the kitchen is perfect for enjoying your breakfast in the morning sun. Close to town and very quiet area. Definitely recommend Kelley's home away from home. Oh and my bed and pillows were devine!!!! Pillows better than my own!!
