  • The caravan is perfect for a getaway in all weathers. Can imagine it being glorious in the height of summer but even in the stormy wet of our trip, it was warm, cosy & clean (with all the fun, food & facilities onsite just a short walk down the road)

  • Lovely place, me and my family had a great time. We'll come back. Thanks.

  • We had a great stay in sea and stars. It was lovely with watching the stars at night and the sunset on the beach. So close to everything you need. The kitchen had everything we needed and the welcome bits were a nice touch. It was very clean and tidy and quiet as on the edge by the field which is the best place! Ross gave us lots of info about places around us and there is a good info book when you get there. Ross was always quick with responses.

  • Fantastic little place. Well decorated and cosy! Fantastic location not too far from the beach. Would definitely recommend!

  • Fantastic location in the caravan park and very cosy inside the accommodation. We visited just before Christmas and the caravan was decorated with lots of twinkly lights. We got to see stars on the last night of our stay when the sky finally cleared up, it looked stunning. Highly recommend a stay here.

  • During a very difficult time we had a lovely family weekend enjoying the peace and quite and lovely view. It was warm and cozy and very child friendly - there were games and toys that we didn't expect. The kids loved the Christmas decorations and wondered if Santa would be having a holiday there too. Thank you Ross

The Salty Shepherd, with shower, small kitchen area and extremely comfy bed, offers complete privacy and a stunning beach one mile away. The Romney Marsh is a very special place; the skies are enormous and the views are too. From the foot of your bed you can watch it all.
A secluded fully equipped shepherds hut allowing complete privacy on a working farm but still close enough to the beach and beautiful nearby towns to offer a fabulous place for a break away. It is small (16ft 8ft) but has everything you need for a truly memorable and unusual experience. Our guests tell us it's definitely worth it! It can only fit two people in one double bed but the view from the end of the bed is wonderful. The farm's resident barn owl is often seen hunting along the ditch just meters away and the pair of English partridges are also worth looking out for. Guests are welcome to walk around the farm to take in the unusual beauty of the Romney Marsh where the sunsets aren't often beaten.
Rye, Hastings, Tenterden. All beautiful old towns packed with history and super shops. Aside from the water sports and fishing on your doorstep, there are National Trust houses, castles, gardens, long walks, ancient waterways, extensive numbers of birds and wildlife, nature reserves. Everything you could possibly want!
  • A truly magical place to stay. So very comfortable and lots of extra little special touches.

  • A genuine escape - Rosie was so helpful with my questions before our visit, and made sure to warn me about the weather! Would love to return and experience the sunset.

    Caitlin2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • WOW what a perfect place to get away from it all. We could of lied in that bed and watched the ever changing picture window for days. The Shepard’s hut has everything you could need, it really is perfectly laid out and done up beautifully. Just bring a couple of your favourite board games, couple of bottles of wine and switch off from it all. We’ll be back for sure.

  • Beautiful hut in an amazing location, we can’t wait to return :)

    Amie2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super place: cosy, stylish, in an amazing location in the wilds of Romney Marsh close to the beach. Rosie's place is a great spot to catch up with yourself, loved-one and the things in life that matter: fresh air, big skies and warm fire. We'll be back.

  • Had a wonderful couple of nights at Vivienne’s place. Lovely and relaxing and so peaceful. Enzo the dog was a joy too. Lots of lovely touches and plenty of bits for breakfast and snacks. Weill definitely return

    Martin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you! This hut was a lovely little retreat to recharge our batteries with the fresh country air. We felt so comfortable and relaxed we could just sit in bed and read all day and let the time pass by. We did pop out for a little walk and there are lots of routes nearby but you need a good map and sense of direction as they're not well used. The hut is lovely, very warm, super warm and comfortable bed (want that bed at home) and the food supplied is amazing. Really spoilt for choice. Thank you so much for stocking up for us. We really loved being in the hut during the wind and the rain, felt really relaxed and comforting hearing the rain on the windows. Enzo is a very friendly and lovable dog with alot of energy who you'll also see around the farm, our dog liquorice who is a bit older got on fine with him.

  • Absolutely amazing! The hosts are wonderful, the supplies are exceedingly generous, the cabin is cute and cosy, the location is peachy and the peace and quiet is heavenly. Thank you so much for a fabulous stay!

  • We had a fanastic stay at Vivienne and Bob's lovely place! Everything was perfect; wonderful accomodation, beautiful surroundings, hassle free check-in and out - we look forward to going back! Thanks again. Alice & Jack

    Alice2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a lovely charming, beautiful, relaxing, rustic, characteristic cabin. I loved it and i will return .

    Geoff2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is 10/10, Vivienne has added every little touch you could imagine to the cabin, the breakfast was there and it was great! The recommendations for places to eat were spot on. We really did have a lovely time! Thankyou! I read some of the reviews about things being dated and was slightly concerned but everything was working fine for us and there was more than enough kit for the size of the cabin, and it wasn’t all in the way which made the place really cosy! Oh yes - do not worry about the cold outside - it’s nice and toasty in there! If you have a doggo again you’re catered for with the field off the back being fenced off they can run around until their legs can’t go any more (the torch supplied was a godsend for this) and plenty of footpaths nearby too!

We have plans on other quirky spaces to stay in the future, so watch this space... We hope to see you soon... Deborah & Steve

It is a self contained attic space with 1 bedroom, 1 en-suite, lounge and kitchen. So what are you waiting for...come and re-kindle yourselves...
Appledore is a lovely little village. It has a great pub, The Black Lion, with very welcoming staff and good food. There is a great tea room, Miss Molletts, fabulous cakes, sandwiches, tea, coffee etc. We have a well stocked village store. Free tennis courts on the playing field. If you need to get glammed up for a night out, we now have a new Hairdressers in the village, 'Blush' - highly recommended.
  • Whispering Willows was a fantastic getaway, the hot tub was excellent and the hosts Deborah and Steve were very thoughtful. They added little extras to our stay such as a birthday banner and a few beers in the fridge! We would definitely recommend a stay here.

  • Wonderful place to stay. Very easy check-in and out. Nice little place, perfect for a couple and great central location for historical attractions in Kent and East Sussex - equidistant from Dover Castle, Battle and Pevensey. Just what we needed! Would recommend/stay again.

    Sam2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little loft conversion, perfect for a relaxing weekend away for my partner’s birthday. Lots of little touches from Debs and Steve made it even better, not the mention the hot tub! Thank you.

    Laura2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Deb & Steve’s place. As Londoners, we couldn’t have wished for more of a welcome escape from city life. It’s quiet, rural, dark (if you’re after low light pollution) and well located for walks, English vineyards and good pubs! The place itself is cosy, nicely furnished and with a decent-sized kitchen if you’re up for self-catering. Can’t comment on the hot tub, as it was January and we chickened out of going in! They are right about transport - you’re definitely better off with a car but we did manage to get to Appledore and back a couple of times (only 20 mins stroll, mostly with pavement) and to the Ferry Inn, even at night on foot. Deb & Steve do provide bikes if you’re up for a country lane cycle. Can recommend the Black Lion pub in Appledore and Miss Mollets Tea Room. The former for fish pie or any seafood really, and the latter for excellent tea, cakes and sandwiches. If they have the sticky toffee date cake on the menu, order it without hesitation. Deb & Steve are excellent hosts, very welcoming, with great comms and plenty of local tips. And even picked us up for the station!

    Jamie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean, private loft space in the middle of a quiet, picturesque town with great pubs and vineyards! Deborah and Steve were great hosts, providing us with information in the loft on arrival and prior to our stay. Small personal touches and the Jacuzzi made for a great get a way weekend. Thanks!

  • The apartment is on the beach which is amazing. Plus the beach it is on stretches for miles and is stunning. We loved hearing the sea and sitting on the balcony. It is a walk along the sand from the car park to the apartment so travel light! There is not much essentials like tea/coffee so be prepared to supply your own.

    Helen2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fabulous place, literally on the sand! It’s a fabulous place especially with young family! The host who dealt with check in was really friendly. The place is very tidy and clean but due to location, you should bring your own slippers and not to enter with your shoes with lots of sands!

    Erina2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights over half term, amazing location, didn’t need to use the car for 3 days. We will go back.

The fenced garden and short walk to the vast sandy beach at low tide was perfect for us and our little dog. Shops, pubs etc are all close by so no need to drive once you are there. If we visit the area again we will definitely like to stay again. Highly recommended.

  • Superbly located with just a short stroll to a deserted beach. The cottage itself is charming without being cluttered. We really appreciated that it was lovely and warm on our arrival and lying in bed listening to Storm Ciara was a real treat! Thank you for a lovely weekend.

  • Lovley cottage in a great location. We travelled from London and dont have a car but it was not a problem. Nearby town Rye is as idyllic as the accomadtion and has good bus routes and taxis to the cottage. We spent the days walking on the beach and stopping off at pubs (The Owl is great for food) and spent the evenings relaxing by the fire.

Wake in comfort to the sound of the sea, explore the misty brooding Romney Marsh, then warm up in the many atmospheric pubs with intriguing histories, resident ghouls, roaring fireplaces, cracking ales and tasty pub grub, walk along our pebbled beach, look out across the shimmering blue sea and you’ll feel like you’ve discovered another world. Stay at Coastguards Lantern and discover a landscape full of myth’s and legends, surrounded by the haunting loneliness of Romney Mash. A flat, open landscape of wide skies and fields criss-crossed by a lattice of drainage ditches, where yellow waterlilies float in early summer, it offers the opportunity to wander quiet lanes and paths and to visit some of its famous medieval churches and the vast stretch of historic invasion coast. Built in this secluded spot, to help guard against smuggling and invasion, this beautiful renovated coastguard cottage is the perfect location for a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Coastguards Lantern Summary Sleeps 4 people Dog friendly Sea views Beach just 80 meters away Woodburning stove 6 miles to RSPB Dungeness Nature Reserve 6 miles to medieval town of Rye Quiet and secluded location South facing decked garden Nespresso coffee machine Parking for 2 cars Entertainment Flat screen 32” TV X Box 360 & selection of games Wifi (3g Mobile Broadband) DVD Player Flat screen TV & DVD player to master bedroom Flat screen TV & DVD player to 2nd bedroom Selection of DVD’s, board games and books Right beside the sea, near the village of Camber, and with views in every direction, Coastguards Lantern is a special, recently renovated holiday cottage surrounded by wild beauty. To one side is SSSI-designated marshland (Site of Special Scientific Interest). To the other, the sea, so seclusion is a given. Yet you are only a few minutes’ drive to the medieval Cinque Port town of Rye for shops, pubs and restaurants. Coastguards Lantern is a modified traditional coastguards cottage with modern updates layered over its 143-year-old bones. As soon as you step inside, you will note the careful attention paid to this home’s renovation. Dining & Lounging The newly equipped open plan kitchen/dining room has everything you’ll need to prepare lovely meals, including a beautiful Range cooker, Nespresso Coffee Machine, breakfast bar and farmhouse dining table. Why not visit Rye and buy locally caught seafood fresh from the boat? Or some Romney Marsh lamb from the local butchers? Beside The Sea Holidays will be more than happy to recommend our favourites! After dinner, cosy down on the comfy sofas in the lounge and watch the flames dance in the log burning stove—the centrepiece of this lovely space. Bed & Bath Upstairs you’ll find a stunning and modern bathroom with a secret: a customised bath set high enough for sea views to accompany your soothing soak. Dare we say with a glass of wine as an accompaniment? How perfect is that? The large, comfortable master bedroom has a super king-size bed and unspoilt views over the sheep-studded marsh where the local smugglers plied their trade. The second bedroom has two 3ft beds and a stunning view of the sea, plus a small flat screen TV with DVD, just in case you ever tire of watching the waves and sunset! Outdoors The cottage has a decked south-facing and quiet garden, the perfect place to relax after a day of coastal hikes and historical sites. The pebble beach is mere steps away, with a paved boardwalk spanning its length for sand-and-stone-free jogs. Do as much or as little as you like here, with only the crackle of the fire and the crash of the waves to interrupt the quiet. Other things to note Coastguards are old properties in a very exposed location and in the winter months the wind can really howl off the sea - some guests love watching the weather go wild or the sea mist rolling creating an eerie atmosphere, while some have found it a little unsettling. So if you are not a fan of older houses that have history and character then this would not be for you - we do have modern properties down the road that are in a more sheltered environment. The cottages are next to the Lydd Ranges, a military firing range (its also a nature reserve). It has been used for military training for over 150 years and is part of the Dungeness, Romney Marsh and Rye Bay Site of Special Scientific Interest (it is home to incredibly rare plants and animals) Because the range is used for live firing access is sometimes restricted - red flags are flown during these times, access is prohibited along the foreshore. When firing is not carried out, it may be possible to walk along a designated path along the shore. Feb & Mar 2020 During Feb and March the Environment agency are carrying out essential emergency sea defence works to extend the range of the sea wall to the rear of the coastguards. The compound to the right of the cottages will be where they will be housing their machinery.

  • We had a lovely weekend in this well equipped, well presented and comfortable house. It was very windy outside, yet we were cosy and warm throughout the house and especially in front of the log fire! A quiet location and great to be able to walk out to the sea front. We were able to easily explore Rye and Dungeness with only a short drive to each. We would also highly recommend The Pilot Inn in Dungeness for dinner.

  • A lovely, comfortable, clean and homely small cottage, ideal for a romantic getaway or much needed rest and relaxation. Our hosts, Jan and John, made us feel very welcome without being intrusive. If we had a query or issue, they were very quick to respond, helpfully and with patience (we had a challenge with the new electric hob!). The kitchen is well equipped if you prefer to cook your own meals. The cottage is well located, with good outside space and lovely views in a very peaceful setting, but within easy reach of the coastal towns of Hythe and Folkestone. We would definitely recommend this accommodation. Thank you Jan and John for a lovely relaxing stay.

  • It is a great feeling to visit Jan and John, most humble and down to earth beings. Dunes View is our lovely 4 bedroom Beach House, enjoying glorious, uninterrupted sea views from the living area and balcony and direct beach access. Perfect for families with kids, and anyone who loves fresh air, beach sports and Hot Tubs! Please note there is a £50 per stay cost to use the hot tub - this will be added to your bill after booking once we have received confirmation you wish to use this facility.
Dunes View is our recently renovated beach front home, featuring open plan living accommodation, clean modern décor and a wealth of features to make the most of Beach front living. Relax with a glass of wine or cup of tea on the extensive balcony with comfy outdoor furniture and gas BBQ and watch the tides wash in and out and the sky in all it's glory, no matter what the time of year. The lounge area features cosy sofa seating for 6 adults and there are two huge bean bags and 2 deck chairs to support a relaxed and flexible family atmosphere. The large picture windows really do showcase the spectacular sea and dune view, without compromising on your privacy. There is a 50' plasma screen, dvd, free view and surround system entertainment package with a selection of CD's to enjoy and connectors for most smart phones to stream your personal music and videos. (high speed internet access is included as standard) The Kitchen is very well appointed with all the mod cons you would expect (dishwasher, microwave, double oven, gas hob etc) and the open plan living arrangements means that chef is never excluded from the action or the views! The stylish bedrooms, all on the ground floor, feature new linens and fresh decoration. Two are ideal for adults featuring King Size beds and fitted wardrobes, the others perfect for kids (one has full sized bunks, one 2x 2ft6 singles) so extended families or 2 family shares are easily accommodated. Two bathrooms, (one shower/bath, one shower) have been recently decorated and installed and feature pumped water pressure systems. Even the mundane aspects of self catering are well catered for; There is an extremely useful utility room featuring separate a washer, dryer and sink - which is accessible straight from the garden to help you deal with the inevitable sandy shoes, clothes and toes. The shower room connects directly here also, so getting the sand out of the harder to reach places is also a breeze. As you would expect, the property is centrally heated. The Garden features a range of outdoor furniture and planting and extensive and private patio area, with your private beach access, which in a matter of footsteps, takes you through a lovely grassy area through to the dunes and the gorgeous, safe and clean Greatstone beach. The Hot Tub seats 6 adults and is located in the private rear garden, so when tired of the view upstairs, have a soak in the tub and enjoy the lovely garden. Day or night, winter or summer, the bubbles are terrific! Please note, children under 12 are not permitted to use the hot tub. If you can drag yourself away from the amazing beach, there is loads to do in the local area, the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway is very popular, and you can see the trains pass up the road out the kitchen window and front bedrooms.
Its a very quiet residential neighbourhood, so while we are happy to host groups, we do ask our guests to respect our lovely neighbours and be considerate in regards to any noise they may make on the balcony, in the hot tub and on the dunes.

Delightful, cosy holiday cabin on the shingle at Dungeness, moments from the sea, with wonderful views. A spacious modern en-suite shower room and separate living room, with small kitchen give you the option to rustle up basic meals, and a generous comfy kingsize bed (twin beds option) awaits you. There is a sofa bed for another guest/child. Spectacular views of the two lighthouses across the shingle towards the sea and only moments from one of the best pub restaurants around, The Pilot Inn!.
Our cosy one bedroom holiday cabin on Dungeness is a perfect spot to base yourself and explore this unique conservation area, with its wild and magnificent open spaces, and the coastline and other attractions of Kent all nearby. Cooking facilities are good but basic and suitable for simple meals, using the convection oven, grill and 2 hob rings and a selection of pots and pans. There is a fridge freezer, tea and coffee making facilities. We also include a welcome pack of milk and a few breakfast basics. We have 2 identical cabins set together on a single private track with lovely views towards the two lighthouses. There is good wifi but please note that there is no TV or DVD player. We do occasionally accept small, well behaved, non-malting dogs, if you notify us in advance and we ask for an additional £25. We request they do not go on the soft furnishings and need to be dried off if coming in from the rain or the sea. If you wish to bring your dog please notify us in advance to check if its acceptable on the dates that you require.
Being a Special Area of Conservation, featuring a Nature Reserve and dubbed ''Britain's only designated desert'', Dungeness is quite a unique place. It has a barren beauty and many wonderful sites and sounds to discover. The sunrise over the sea in front of the apartments, setting behind the cottage, the clear bright stars at night take your breath away. Kite surfers cruise along the shoreline, bird watchers and ramblers pass by, the little steam train toots and trundles along the bottom of the road every half an hour, the two light houses prevent you ever getting lost, the architecture is diverse and unusual as you wonder down to the silent and by night quite Art Deco looking power station. The un-crowded shingle beaches are dotted with fisherman, and a walk towards Romney Bay provides miles of sand stretching to Folkstone. There are no arcades or bucket and spade shops in this area just a peaceful tranquil beach for a total getaway.
  • Great cabin with a peaceful view, comfortable bed, hot shower. Ideally situated to explore Dungeness.

    Tracy2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mistral cabin is in a great location with very easy access to Dungeness and surrounding areas. The cabin itself was spotless and just what I was looking for. Would happily stay again.😀

  • Great place with views over the shingles 'desert' to the light houses and power stations. Weather meant we didn't always have clear views but Dungeness is so unusual it didn't matter. Cabin was cosy and clean with very comfy bed and great walk in shower. Easy walking distance to the beach and pub with great food.

    Gaye2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Great for visiting nearby beaches and historic towns. Nice touches in the flat. Added cost for having a dog was a bit steep at 25 pounds as pretty sure to clean such a small space would cost much less. Otherwise a lovely spot to spend our anniversary!

    Alasdair2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We really much enjoyed staying at Phillida’s place with our two kids. The place was cosy and within walking distance of a nice pub and the beach. We’d stay here again.

  • Mistral Cabin lies on the edge of Dungeness National Reserve with stunning views across this wild landscape. The cabin is cosy and warm even in the wind and rain of Storm Dennis! Nice bedroom, really great shower room and comfortable living room/kitchen. Good amenities with eco friendly ethos. Highly recommended!

  • We had a great time in Mistral cottage, perfectly situated to explore the area. Great views over the shingles ‘desert’ and the power station. The beds were super comfy and the place looks great just like in the photos! We also loved the nearby pub Pilot Inn - great fish and chips. Thanks Phillida for a lovely stay!

  • This is the perfect antidote to the chaos of London. The landscape is fascinating. The accommodation is very tastefully designed. The blisteringly hot shower is fantastic and the whole space is light, bright and refreshing. Do visit...food for the soul.

  • Julie and Rons home is in a fantastic location, right on the coast. It it is in a quiet area, with a great coastal walk straight from the front door. It is spacious, well equipped, with lovely welcoming touches , coffee, tea, milk, bread and butter, jams , cereal, etc etc. The beds are super comfortable - the best sleep I've had in 4 weeks of travelling! July and Ron are great hosts. They welcomed me personally, stopped to chat and offered useful travel tips whenever our paths crossed. I felt very relaxed in their company and in their home and would highly recommend them.

  • Staying at Carolines beautiful home was exceeding all expectations I could have possibly had. I was made exceptionally welcomed from the minute I met her and her husband. Their home is a total gem decorated with a marine theme in mind and so much attention to detail. My room was of a very decent size and beautifully decorated - the photos on here don't do it justice - and even had tea & coffee making facilities and a hospitality tray loaden with everything you could ask for. Having my own bathroom was a bonus too. Needless to say that everything was spotlesssly clean. Caroline also serves breakfast which was plentiful with lots of local produce on offer and this was laid out lovingly in their conservatory. Whilst my hosts were always available for a cheery chat and happy to help with lots of advice about the local area I was always given the option of having as much privacy as I needed. Location wise this is 5 star too as it's only a couple of minutes walk to the beach and a few few miles drive to Dungeness (nature reserve). I absolutely enjoyed staying here. Thank you Caroline for having me.

  • Great place. Near enough to everything, Caroline and Dave are great hosts, and they laid out breakfast and everything, which they didn’t have to do. All in all, highly recommended.

  • Absolutely lovely couple, amazing hosts they went above and beyond to make us feel happy and comfortable, breakfast was amazing loads to choose from at a time that suits you, beautiful room with everything you need and more! • What a lovely place, well worth a visit! From the beginning Caroline was quick to reply before the trip. When we arrived we were met with a warm welcome after showing us our room and the other amenities. Caroline invited us in for a lovely cold drink (too hot for a cuppa) and a chat it was nice to get to know her and she felt more like a friend than we had only just met. Which was lovely. The accommodation itself is lovely and bright. She obviously loves to decorate and accessorise the room was a nice nautical theme. It had everything you needed a good selection or teas coffee hot chocolate and even biscuits! The bed was lovely and comfy. Plenty of space to hang any clothes you wanted up. Lovely breakfast spread in the morning something to cater for everyone. The bungalow is a five minute walk from the beach and pubs restaurants and shops that are near by you won’t be disappointed booking with Caroline and Dave they pride themselves in making your experience in their home the best, we will definitely be back we didn’t want to leave! :-)

  • What a gem. Maycroft is a perfect holiday home for a relaxing stay. The house is comfortable and stylish and we couldn’t have been made more welcome. Seconds from the beach it’s perfect for dog walks. The lovely log burner is perfect for cosy evenings. The beds and bed linen are high quality and on par with a 5 star hotel. • Fantastic beautifully decorated and equipped cottage . The place is modern and spotlessly clean . We felt at home and the hospitality from the host was exceptional. It’s a lovely location and close to many tourist spots . The thoughtful touches from the host were extremely welcome and helped to make our break even more special .

  • This charming cottage is just lovely. Everything has been renovated to a very high quality. Bathroom and kitchen both excellent, the woodburner is delightful, Netflix is included and it is the most spotless AirBnB I've ever been in! The bedding was forensically clean. The place has an air of calm, and is excellent for both Rye and Camber beaches. We arrived during a wild storm, so couldn't get out much but the outdoor areas would be perfect for summer bbqs. I cannot rate this place highly enough.

  • We had a lovely stay here as a small group of friends, we lucked out with the weather and had a beautiful walk along the beach. The apartment was very clean and our host greeted us soon after we checked in and gave us some useful extra information on the area!

  • Jason’s place is stylist, spotless and generally wonderful! Jason himself is a fabulous host meeting us with a lovely bottle on arrival and gave us some great tips on where to go. We had such a great weekend, thank you

    Emily2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Its a fabulously cozy cottage with an outside space that would be lovely in the summer - seating area and a bbq 2 seconds over the road to the beach which is dog friendly - the dogs loved it even though the weather was appalling! Didn’t matter the cottage was such a nice place to be and so cozy with the burner. The owner brought us a bottle of Prosecco and there a lot of nice touches about the place like a couple of cakes left out for tea, bread, milk and eggs. The owner is a very charming man and his enthusiasm for his place is obvious. Would highly recommend!

    Olivia2020-01-15T00:00:00Z

Appledore is a beautiful Kent village, near the border with East Sussex. Appledore has a pub, tea room, antique shop and a well-stocked village store. The medieval town of Rye and the pretty town of Tenterden are both a ten-minute drive away. Appledore sits on the edge of the hauntingly beautiful Romney Marsh. Plenty of cycle and walking routes can be found in the vicinity. The famous beach at Camber (Camber Sands) is a 20-minute drive. There is plenty to do with children in the area. The Rare Breeds Centre – a sweet farm with petting sessions, soft play and outdoor playgrounds – is a ten-minute drive. The Kent & East Sussex Railway operates steam trains from nearby Tenterden. Grove Farm Riding School is located in Iden, a 15-minute drive away. There are also several fabulous beaches and plenty of family-friendly restaurants in the area. There are leaflets and an information pack in the property and Amy is on hand to help with recommendations.
  • Loved everything about our stay at Amy’s place. The Outbuilding is one of the nicest Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in. The design is amazing, loved the bath and the fireplace, plus it’s full of really thoughtful touches like milk in the kitchen when you arrive and dressing gowns hung up in the bedroom. Amy was super friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful - she’s thought of everything. We mainly used it as a base to go into Rye which is about a 10 minute drive. Would recommend The Standard pub for dinner and The Gallivant if you’re heading over to Camber Sands.

  • Amy's house is really charming and very well decorated. It is suitable for 4 or 5 people and is very comfortable, with the stove in the large living room. Lots of children's games and books. The terrace and the view give a very pleasant feeling of openness. Thanks Amy!

  • The Outbuilding at Appledore is great - a lovely, beautifully designed quiet space in a perfectly-located village with everything you might need (shop, pub serving food etc.). We had a really peaceful couple of nights celebrating New Year with the wood burner and plenty of bubble baths. We hope to return in the summer to enjoy the deck in warm weather and take in some of the amazing beaches.

    Felicity2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very comfortable and pleasant. I can't fault the accommodation at all. Check-in was made seamless by the host's excellent communication. Light and airy seaside cottage with lots of character. Built in around 1900, it was originally home to one of the local coastguards who were stationed in the village. Cosy and comfortable sitting room with log burner. Open plan kitchen diner opening in to the sunny sheltered garden. The kitchen is well equipped, with microwave, electric oven, washer dryer and dishwasher. There is a double bedroom and a single room with bunk beds. The family bathroom is downstairs, and we have an upstairs toilet.
The cottage has been our family holiday home for over 10 years. It is where we come to rest, relax and have fun as a family. It is a well loved and unpretentious cottage that we hope you will love and want to return to. It is a bright airy home with a pretty cottage garden, where you can sit and listen to the birds. We have accumulated plenty of DVDs, books, toys and games which you are welcome to enjoy.
Rye Harbour is a beautiful working fishing village. Many of the people who live there still crew the boats or are volunteer lifeboatmen. There is a well stocked local shop, an art gallery and cafe selling the most wonderful cakes and 2 local pubs. The William the Conqueror pub is located on the harbour front, with tables outside. They serve a mix of great pub grub, including some excellent Greek dishes. There's a nature reserve with hides, which draws nature lovers and birdwatchers from far and wide. Even those with only a passing interest in birds will be impressed. You can walk, scoot or ride through the reserve to the very uncrowded beach. At high tide the beach is shingle only but the sand appears as the tide goes out. A great place for a barbecue with friends or family. There are beautiful coastal walks and Henry VIII's Camber Castle accessible through fields on the nature reserve. A short drive away you have the famous Camber Sands, renowned for its miles of sand, dunes and kite surfing. Rye is a couple of miles away and is famously picturesque and historic, with lots of shops and great places to eat. Winchelsea is also steeped in history, once a huge city, now a beautiful village built around a beautiful ruined priory. In the wider area there is Hastings with its funicular and mini railway, fair rides, smugglers' caves, aquarium and wonderful fish and chips. Also well worth visiting is the unique landscape of Dungeness, with its steam railways, art studios and Derek Jarman's famous garden.
  • Gorgeous family friendly cottage in a fantastic location close to nature, beaches, pub and cafe. Really homely and comfy with great facilities. Can’t wait to book again in the summer.

    Emily2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a lovely few days relaxing in Martha's spotless, cosy cottage. We would fully recommend it for a couple or families with a couple of young children. The location was great too. You can walk from the cottage to the Nature Reserve and the pebbly beach. There are 2 pubs also within very easy walking distance. We had a good meal at William the Conqueror. Unfortunately the Inkerman Arms wasn't doing food during February ( even though they'd advertised food times outside the pub ). We went to The Bosun's Bite Cafe 3 times for their delicious (huge) breakfast. I would really recommend this cafe. The staff are friendly and the food freshly cooked to order. Their cakes looked delicious too! Be aware that they only take cash in payment. We would love to come back to Martha's cottage again. We loved how peaceful the area was but I expect it is completely different in the summer months as I think it must be very popular with visitors.

    Aideen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

    Andrew2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Martha’s cottage was in a fantastic location right by the harbour and beach. There is a lovely pub right round the corner as well! Martha was quick to respond and more than accommodating with any questions we had. The cottage was beautifully clean and cosy. Highly recommended to any couples or small families!

    Poppy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Martha’s place has a lovely cosy feel to it and was extremely comfortable for our 2 night stay. Our 4 year old loved the bunk beds and selection of children’s books that he found in the room. The cottage is also well located as is very near to a local shop and family friendly pub serving very good food (the William the Conqueror). There is also another pub very close by but unfortunately we didn’t have time to try it. We had a great time exploring Rye, Camber and Hastings and will hopefully return to the area in the future.

    Louise2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really comfortable and large enough to spend nice moments inside (and, I guess when the weather is warm enough, outside in the lovely yard too). It's quiet and well furnished so that we felt immediately at ease.

    Nadège2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay in Martha’s cosy cottage in Rye Harbour. Lovely walk along the coast. Rye town was picturesque, had fab food... definitely recommend Landgate Bistro! It’s very tranquil and the perfect weekend escape. Thanks Martha!

Perfectly placed for long walks on the nearby beach. Each Cabu is an amazing design, and they're great for kicking back whatever the weather (we had 35kts cold NW winds but we loved the cosy wood burner - would be equally amazing in summer time having all the doors wide open). Can't fault our stay - thank you!

  • Great place. 2 mins walk to promenade and beach front. 13 lodges fairly well placed apart. Clean; funky design concept which we were very impressed with. Really great staff. Great base for the area. They have bikes to hire also. Would probably go in the first 3 years as they could become tired looking easily and also before they build any more on the site.

  • Gabby's place is a dream! We loved being here, super convenient for exploring Dungeness, Camber Sands and Rye and very cosy for cooking and staying in. Well designed, beautiful light, spacious garden, everything we could have hoped for. We'll be back!

  • The workshop is a fabulous place to stay. The rooms are all clean and bright with stylish and well arranged furniture. The beds were comfy with good quality bedding. The workshop has been really well thought through and beautifully styled. The workshop is set in lovely grounds so our children and dog had a lot of fun playing in the garden. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing. Lydd is a pretty village with a few useful shops. Would highly recommend a stay here.

  • We had a wonderful winter getaway in Gabby’s workshop. The style and decor is beautifully done with gorgeous design features and fitting and is at the same time welcoming and homely. Gabby was a brilliant host, easy and quick to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The garden is lovely and was perfect for our dog to run around in and play with their gorgeous dog Gibson! It’s a great base to explore the local area, we had long walks on Camber Sands, visited Rye, Hastings, Battle and Dungeness.

    Rachel2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Both Gabby & the cottage were a complete delight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very cosy & clean. The underfloor heating was a welcomed luxury when I forgot my slippers!

The Shed stands in the garden of the Old Oak - once the smuggling pub of Bonnington. With fabulous views over the Marsh we offer a bedroom with a king size bed and a separate kitchen/living room, everything beautifully designed and presented.
Built originally for our family now living abroad - we love to share it with guests when the family are not with us. We consider the Shed is 'small but perfectly formed!' Everything is provided from bathroom goodies to kitchen stores (tea, coffee, sugar, flour, salt and pepper etc.) With shower room - cosy living room and private garden just for you, and views to die for across Romney Marsh, it's the perfect place to explore the many attractions on offer in Kent.
We are very rural and you would really need a car. There are masses of famous historical places within easy reach - Castles at Dover, Leeds, Walmer and Bodiam. Canterbury with its cathedral, the famous little churches of Romney Marsh, the artists of Rye, the beautiful villages of Kent with fabulous pubs! There is a Designer Outlet at Ashford, and we about 7 miles to the Eurotunnel and then 35mins by train to France. Kent is renowned for amazing gardens including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter. And the fast train to London St Pancras takes just 37 mins for a day in the city! There are brilliant walks and we have the details. Painters love the light and the huge skies of the Marsh and cyclists rave about the area. We think you would have a great time on Romney Marsh!
  • What a gem of a find! Definitely like no shed I've ever seen before! With so many personal touches inside, amazing countryside views outside and warm hospitality from our hosts and their beautiful dogs. We would certainly recommend!

    Mo2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely oasis away from the city — a really romantic getaway. I loved all the art in the shed!

    Simone2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Given the photos and description, you will go with high expectations... but it is even better than that! The flat is beautifully, thoughtfully and generously equipped. And the finishing touches make it even more like the kind of hospitality you would offer to your best friends. The location is great and the views across Romney Marsh are stunning.

    Sue2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent base for exploring this fascinating area. The Shed offers excellent accommodation and has stunning views from every window. Tina and Jeremy are wonderful hosts. Wish I'd brought our bikes as this is a great area for cycling. Recommended!

    Andy2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, spacious and private with friendly and helpful hosts and its own little seating-out garden; well positioned to drop down to explore from Hythe to extra-ordinary Dungeness, plus a little further for distinctive Rye and Winchelsea.

    Scott2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Shed is ideally located for discovering the Marsh and coastal Kent. It’s an amazing space, very well designed and equipped. The hosts Tina and Jeremy are very welcoming without being intrusive. There were nice touches such as cake and fruit on arrival as well as supplies of tea, coffee, cereals and porridge. I would have no hesitation in returning or in recommending the Shed to couples or solo travellers looking for a break in the area.

    Ben2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot sing the praises enough for this place. Tina makes for a lovely welcoming host and made me and wife feel so comfortable, the place itself is perfect as a base to explore Romney marsh and Kent from. It was clean, had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We will be staying again!

  • Exceptional place - for the money this was absolutely our best AirBNB stay yet! Stylish and good space, comfy bed and sofa, amazing views, fantastic location. Recommendations were great - particularly the Owl pub in Camber, where we had dinner.

    Gus2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place - more spacious than we expected, lovely view from the terrace, occasional swan passing by on the stream... Ross was delightful, getting back to us quickly when we had a question. The place was well heated - we stayed in February - and so comfy to stay in on a stormy day. Wonderfully located - the beach is nearby, so are Rye and Dungenesse. Check out the Gallivant (6 mn drive - 20£ week days for the 3-course market menu) for a gourmet lunch (and fab British wine). And the Red Lion Pub in Snargate for beer served straight from the cask. The decoration hasn’t changed much since the 1940s!

    Carol2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy caravan with all the home comforts, perfect for kids! Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area, Rye is a must, especially the school of wizards, kept the kids entertained for the afternoon!

    Sairah2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a pleasure to stay at Ross' place: the views of fields of sheep, the rabbits living around the site, the 10 minute walk to the incredible beach, the warm fire and the well equipped kitchen all provided the rest we were looking for from our long weekend. As others have commented the place would be very full with 6, and some may find it worth knowing that the single beds are slim (camping size). The fish and chips from Pelican's fish bar (on the main road) were of the freshest and most enjoyable we've had. We were delighted by our stay and hope to organise something similar before too long.

  • This is a fantastic place in a unique and wonderful environment. This is by far the best ABNB experience we have had to date. Everything is organized perfectly and the property is beautiful.

    Peter2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We all had a fantastic time at Sunspot, even though Storm Dennis turned up for a visit. The view from the main living area across the beach is amazing, thoroughly enjoyed the local wildlife and the little steam train whistling by. A unique and special place to spend a weekend.

    Katie-Jane2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We throughly enjoyed our two night stay at Sunspot Dungeness. The weather was very kind of the Saturday and Sunday we also enjoyed as high a winds as we have ever walked in. In between we had two family evening meals around the large dining table. The wood burning stove worked well. We would recommend to anyone seeking the Dungeness experience!

    Robert2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a gorgeous, relaxing space with lovely expansive views across the shingle. We loved sitting in the lounge with the wood burner on looking out to the sea. Felt like home from home!

  • Beautiful place, and great hosts.

    Ed2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely house in a great location in atmospheric Dungeness. House has everything you need and is even nicer than photos. Just spent a couple of days relaxing at sunspot, going for windy beach walks and then warming up by the log burner.

    Holly2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house and a perfect location for spending time in the magic of Dungeness

    Matthew2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sunspot is elegantly and kitted out with a full modern feel and amazing views to both the beach and back towards the power plant. The place was easy to find and ideally located for getting around and a short walk to Derek Jarman's garden. Wildlife galore to see both in the local micro-ecosystem and along Romney Marshes and the RSPB centre The kitchen was well kitted out with an extensive range of herbs and spices which made cooking good meals really easy and great fresh fish to buy locally. We had a great stay and Michael and Rachael were great hosts who responded quickly and helped our stay. If you want to see Dungeness and a range of beautiful scenery and wildlife as well as visit quaint small towns (even on the local tiny steam train), you can't go wrong here.

Warm welcome to our very comfortable, private guest suite! You may come & go as you please, day & night. We live in the other half of the house, with our own entrance. Scroll down for much more. The beds have comfortable, medium-firm mattresses, plus white, Egyptian cotton bed linen, hypo-allergenic duvets & pillows (firm & soft) & lovely woollen blankets & cushions. Babies are very welcome & we make no charge for babies up to age 3 (but please bring your baby's own bedding & food). Most dogs are very welcome but may we please discuss them beforehand - there are cats in neighbouring gardens. We make no charge for dogs but they musn't get on the beds or other furniture please. We provide free, off-the-road parking. Smokers are very welcome to smoke in the garden. We’re open every day of the year. All seasons on Dungeness have charm. Summer brings a brilliant array of red poppies & blue-mauve viper’s bugloss amid one third of all British wildflower species. Or come in winter for its huge, pink-tinted skies. Spring & autumn bring migrating birds of course. The sea is wonderful at all times & Dungeness even in the fog is satisfyingly mysterious. Do note that the Watch Tower is lovely for a Christmas or New Year break. For Christmas lunch or New Year’s Eve dinner, there are good restaurants a half hour drive away (in Rye & other places), or Christmas lunch at Demetrios Greek/English restaurant three miles away. Booking meals for the festive days or evenings is recommended. The Pilot Inn & Demetrios also serve food during this season but you need to check precisely when. Alternatively, why not bring your own food & we are happy to microwave simple meals for you in this season. We’re five minutes on foot from the beach (great swimming) & famous Pilot Inn. We’re in walking (or short driving) distance of Derek Jarman’s cottage, Snack Shack, Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, Old Lighthouse, Dungeness Bird Observatory, RSPB Dungeness Nature Reserve, Britannia Inn & Demetrios Greek restaurant. We’re in easy driving distance of Rye, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, Hastings, Hythe, Folkestone, Port Lympne Zoo, Great Dixter & many other attractions. Dungeness is an artists, photographers & nature-lovers dream. Perfect for birdwatchers, walkers, cyclists, swimmers & kite-surfers. Also this is a Dark Skies place & wonderful for star-gazing. It’s great for wildflower enthusiasts (with 2/3 of British wildflower species) and moth-ers (with 2/3 of British moth species plus cross-Channel migrants). Our land is suitable for moth traps. Look out too for butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies & bumblebees.
Come and thrill to this unique landscape. It is a place of wind from all directions and the skies are vast. Light bounces off the pebbles making it a photographer's dream, and sunrises and sunsets are pure magic. Derek Jarman lived here and you can view his famous house and garden from the roadside. PLEASE note that Dungeness is of international conservation importance and therefore visitors should please not disturb either fauna or flora - nor indeed local residents! The peninsula is a huge triangle of Ice Age flint pebbles formed by longshore drift, and still growing. The Ness protrudes some four and a half miles into the Channel and on clear days you can see the White Cliffs of Dover, and even France. Dotted with fishing boats both old and new, fishermen's cottages, residential railway carriages, designer houses, two lighthouses, a lifeboat station, and a monolithic nuclear power station, it is attractive, weird, bleak, beautiful, and fascinating. In places it has a flavour of the Wild West, in patches a shanty town. Narrow-gauge steam trains rattle across it, flying their smoke banners, and hooting their pleasing whistles. Vast ships and sailing boats journeying in the Channel cross the bay to and from Dover. It is a conservation area, a SSSI, and home to two thirds of all British wildflower species, and two thirds of all British moth species. And you will see myriad birds especially at migration. You can climb the Old Lighthouse (in season), look over to France, travel on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, visit the nearby RSPB reserve, swim, kite-surf further along the coast, or just walk and wander across the shingle. You can stop for a delicious snack at the famous Snack Shack or enjoy fish and chips at the Britannia or famous Pilot Inn. A holiday here is perfect for a relaxing and interesting break, birdwatchers, moth-ers, nature lovers, walkers, cyclists, swimmers, kite surfers, artists, and photographers.

  • We loved staying at Alison’s place. It is quiet and cosy, even in December. Alison is a wonderful host and is a great source of local travel tips. Breakfast is delicious, especially the cheesy scrambled eggs! We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone looking to visit Dungeness.

  • The rooms were exactly as advertised, extremely clean and very relaxing. Super cosy, even (or maybe especially?) on the dark rainy nights! Everything was very comfortable and Alison was very friendly and kind; it was fab to chat with her. The location was great: few minutes walk to beach and the local pub and right by the gates to Dungeness estate. Alison had lots of helpful tips too.

  • We had a brilliant time in this lovely house. There were 8 adults and two small toddlers with plenty of room! The house was clean and had everything you could need. We weren't expecting the view to be as amazing as is was! Would definately love to come back in the summer and be able to sit outside and enjoy that amazing view. Thank you!

    Nancy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I would happily recommend Little Dippers as a place to stay. It was lovely and spacious - there were 8 of us staying and we had plenty of room to socialise and hang out - and the location is ideal with just a short walk to the beach or a ten minute drive to Rye. Richard and Sophie offered loads of tips and a guide for things to do (restaurants, walks, pubs, sight seeing) which ensured we could make the most of our long weekend. Thanks again!

  • We have just spent 2 nights of quality family time at Johns place. The proerty had everything we could have possibly needed and was very spacious. The hot tub was a welcome treat after a 10 mile walk. Its perfectly situated for the small railway and it was lovely to shop local in the small town without having to drive. We didn't get to meet our hosts but left us in friendly capable hands for check in and check out.

  • This is a fantastic place. We stayed with our 18 month old daughter and there was lots in the house and garden to keep her entertained. Hot tub is brilliant. Recommend the New Romney mini railway train which is around the corner.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin over new year. John and Yolanda were lovely hosts, the cabin has some great facilities, is dog friendly and it’s close to local attractions. We’ll be back in the summer with the family. Thank you.

We are on the beautiful Romney Marsh, the sea is one mile to the front of us and the open countryside with Lympne Wildlife Park is to the rear. The views here are second to none - horizon to horizon and the sunsets are to die for!! Please do note that Stable Cottage has a Oven/Grill/Microwave but NO HOB!!! So ideal for those that want to eat out.
So much to do - walk, cycle, swim in the sea. Visit Dover's Historic Castle, the Cathedral at Canterbury, The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway runs to the front of the cottage and there are so many beautiful old churches on the Marsh to explore.
  • Wonderful hosts. We had a very relaxing long weekend, lovely walk along the Royal Military Canal and down the seafront. We had been at a wedding reception at nearby Lympne Castle which was only a short drive away from Stable Cottage was a great place to recover!

  • A wonderful little gem ideal to get away from everything and so close to a variety of attractions and things to do. Jan and her husband were such lovely hosts and were on hand to help with any questions or queries I had. I am sure anyone visiting would not be disappointed.

  • Couldn't have asked for more. The cottage is very quaint with everything you could possibly need. I particularly enjoyed the Nespresso coffee each morning and the myriad snacks Jan left for us. A nature lover's paradise, we were able to set up our own BBQ in the spacious garden and enjoy the beautiful sunset. There was a brilliant food festival on down the road in Hythe and close to lovely pebble beaches for a stroll.

    Deborah2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stable Cottage is in a very quiet location - wonderful views from all rooms. Compact, but had everything that you could want or need. Well-tended garden to sit out in as well (once the sun decided to shine!) And Jan was a very welcoming host.
