'The Pippins' is a four bedroom B&B sleeping up to nine people, with a large pretty garden, indoor pool, and views of fields and the green. It is peaceful and rural and yet only 45-60mins to King's Cross, London. Zuzana's cooking is sensational too.
Pippins is a great base for relaxing with its pool and gardens, especially after exploring London, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire... The house and all rooms are comfy and spacious and make an excellent venue for a family house party. There is a charge for the guest (no for guests up to 9 who stays overnight) staying a day time 15.-/person for using the facilities. The Long Room with its piano can seat up to max. 20 people to dinner, or be a huge playroom for the children. It opens to the garden with its trees and shrubs and lawn. The disability suite on the ground floor has a kitchenette as well as a wet room shower en-suite. The real bed folds into the wall, creating an additional reception room with French doors to the garden. Upstair has three bedrooms with a shared family bathroom. There is a further shower bathroom downstairs by the pool, and an additional separate toilet. I your host, Zuzana, live at the house and pride myself on my lovely clean house and marvellous breakfasts. For the week days there is continental breakfast. Other meals are available on request which are billed separately.
This is rural England with the green, a working farm opposite Pippins, good pubs, pleasant walks, a lovely old church at Northill, Mayday celebrations at Ickwell, Shuttleworth planes and car colection, Swiss garden and very easy access to London by train (31-50 mins) Cambridge by car(45 mins), Oxford (1hour) and other places of interest.
  • Beautiful house, great amenities and lovely host

  • Zuzana's place is absolutely great if you're looking for a day to relax. Zuzana herself is also a great host, always on hand to make sure you're OK and makes a great breakfast. We were a party of 7 and had a comfortable stay.

    James2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend the house. We hired it for my sisters hen and it was so lovely. Spacious and the pool area is fab.

    Jennifer2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana was the perfect host and the house itself was just as lovely as imagined. Spacious, clean with really wonderful amenities and of course the amazing pool, hot tub and sauna. Only wish we'd been able to stay the night. Fantastic house for a large family gathering. Lovely warm cooked breakfast is such a nice touch too. Thank you for having us!

    Jasmine2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana was a great host. Her full English breakfast was excellent. We stayed over the Christmas break with our 3 kids who loved the pool and hot tub. We had family over for Christmas dinner - it was the perfect venue for entertaining. A lovely property situated in outstanding countryside. I would not hesitate to recommend.

    Jo2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana's place was a really great place where we have celebrated my husband's birthday! Zuzana met us in person and guided around the house and explained on what and how to do. We knew some details in advance and requested some additional information about the BBQ and sauna... The amenities were incredible - really nice pool, sauna and hot tub to have a proper spa experience. It is amazing to have a such different experience to what we had before on Airbnb and great idea to have escape from a city life. We can't wait to repeat our vacation once again some time in the future and looking forward to meet this lovely place and people again!

    Gyuzel2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana's house is incredible and we all had a wonderful time. The house is big and sparkling clean, the beds are super comfortable and the pool and hot tub were perfect, the right size and temperature. Zuzana is a very nice host, she Made us feel welcome and she cooked an awesome breakfast in the morning. We'll definitely be back!

    Arianna2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana is a lovely host and the house and grounds are stunning. I used the space for a photoshoot and it couldn't have gone better. Brilliant place to visit!

  • The space was so warm and inviting with fantastic attention to detail. Although we only stayed for one night, the little extra treats were so thoughtful and a lovely surprise. The bed was out of this world comfortable and the shower was fantastic. We would highly recommend Karen’s place!

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Highly recommended

  • Stunning place!

    Scott2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place is a cosy gem of a place, one that we would definitely return to. The sun was setting just out of the window of the barn when we arrived and it was just bliss! Perfect for a peaceful relaxing getaway. Super comfy bed and beautifully decorated throughout. Karen was kind and very quick to help when the WiFi didn’t work-soon had it fixed within 5 mins. We were made to feel very welcome, they also left wine and snacks for our stay which was a lovely surprise. Highly recommended!

    Evangeline2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I'm a regular visitor to Karen's two rooms, enough said.

    Simon2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing stay at The Barn, very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The barn had everything we needed and more. Would recommend!

    Helen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful 5-day stay for work at Karen's converted barn. Karen was communicative and left me some greatly appreciated snacks on arrival. The barn is cosy and well-equipped, including a table where you can eat dinner and/or work if you're in the area for business. There is easy access to the A1 but it's very quiet. The local tips provided were spot-on and the pub at the end of the road does great Italian food. I also took a tip from an earlier review - if you walk out to the end of the country lane, you can follow a public footpath along the river. Great for a run.

  • Beautiful barns and lovely hosts that were quick to respond. Excellent experience will definitely be returning!

    Becca2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic escape, with a wonderful host and brilliant hot tub!

    Jennifer2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in three barns and each was much larger than we expected and the kitchens are very well equipped if you’re cooking for a group. The outdoor space is also lovely so we should return in summer when we would be able to make better use of it! The barns are really stylish and all had amazing rainforest showers. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

    Elizabeth2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great little find! Roomy space, well decorated...love the bathrooms! Perfect for a gathering for family and friends. Would highly recommend and only 20 mins or so from the centre of Cambridge. Really quiet setting, great for a relaxed break (especially with the hot tub)!

    Natalie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy's place is absolutely beautiful. A group of 11 of us visited her home to catch up and have a relaxing weekend. We occupied three of the barns, and the other three were occupied by another group who had come to celebrate a birthday. Each barn is beautifully decorated, and has pretty much everything you could ever need. The beds are comfy - there's ovens, microwaves, shower, baths and even an outdoor hot tub. Cathy sent clear instructions before our arrival which meant that we were able to check in swiftly. A minor incident occurred during our stay, and Cathy dealt with the situation incredibly professionally. We would recommend Cathy's place to anyone and everyone.

    Anne2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is large and modern and perfect for big groups. The outdoor area and hot tub are lovely (especially in summer I imagine). I would allow 4 hours to fire up the hot tub before you want to use it.

    Sarah2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Leading up to our stay, Cathy was very helpful with quick communication. The property was as described and the pictures are a good resemblance. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and the seating space was comfortable. We really enjoyed using the outside space and hot tub. Despite the rustic appeal, there were a few items which were a bit shabby, but overall a beautiful rural stay. Would definitely recommend.

  • Had the best few days staying at Clopton Courtyard!! The barn was amazing and we enjoyed the hot tub!! Cathy and her husband always responded quickly to all of our messages. I have recommended this place already to many friends!!

    Aliza2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay here, the outdoor space is exceptionally amazing and id definitely love to return in the summer as it’s the perfect peaceful setting! Interior is also beautiful. Thanks for having us would definitely recommend!

    Jessica2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay. It was perfectly located for the City and other local attractions. The barn was warm, well-presented and really well equipped. The free WiFi and parking made our lives easier and the hot tub was an enticing bonus, although we didn't brave it in the mid-January winds! Overall my husband and I and our two boys really enjoyed ourselves and we'd love to stay again.

    Sinead2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful 3 days here! Thoroughly enjoyed the available hot tub and fire pit, the Lily barn was a very clean and tidy accommodation. Will definitely be visiting again as it was a pleasant experience!

    Amber2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect stay in a quiet location. Easy to find (driving in the dark on country roads and still found it no issue!) A little hiccup on check-in but was quickly solved. Powerful shower, lovely communal area with plenty of supplies for the fire pit and hot tub, overall a really nice stay and would definitely visit again!

    Joshua2020-01-03T00:00:00Z

  • I had 24 family and friends to fit somewhere for my 30th birthday celebrations - and my goodness did Cathy's place deliver. We had the most perfect weekend, the hot tub was divine and the accommodation second to none. Incredibly tastefully decorated and felt like royalty all weekend! Thank you Cathy so much!

    Holly2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! We hired the whole venue and it was so beautiful! It's ideal for a big group and the hot tub is great! The bubbly was a lovely touch too

  • We booked this property for our regional team meeting and it absolutely did not disappoint. The barns are beautiful inside and really well equipped. There is plenty of parking and a fantastic outdoor space. Incredible value for money and we will definitely be returning.

  • The most beautiful group accommodation you’ll find. Such a perfect venue for a large group - we had a fantastic time and would thoroughly recommend Cathy as a host too!

    Juliet2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for a team retreat. 20 mins out from Cambridge train station and local restaurants.

    Corina2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The barns were exactly as described. A great location for our family get together with everybody being able to have their own space as well as coming together for evening entertainment. We used Lily Barn for our big space and entertained 21 of us here for a sit down meal. Pre-dinner we all gathered in Alice; again, plenty of space for everybody. There are no toilet facilities in the Shepherd's Hut - so whoever's staying there needs to be friendly with those in Lily! We also used DineIndulge for our catering on Saturday night and they were really good. Communication all good throughout the whole booking process.

  • Amazing place and experience. Couldn't have been more relaxing! Sarah's friendly demeanor was the cherry on the top!

    Caza2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here. A warm, comfortable, really clean, tidy space. Beds were really comfortable and it was quiet and peaceful night and day. It's private, with its own separate entrance and parking space and on the edge of Sandy partly overlooking fields. We loved chilling out with DVD and snacks Saturday night. My daughter liked seeing the chickens as well looking happy and healthy walking around part of the owners' garden. A big Tesco is five mins walk away so you will have everything you need. I would recommend it highly. Thank you Sarah!

    Natasha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place is fab - sparkling clean and very spacious with great amenities (we were sad we didn’t have time to use the hot tub!) Location is amazing - close to station yet very peaceful to. Sarah’s partner kindly met us from the train station and gave us lots of local tips and directions. Would love to stay again!

  • A perfect place to stay for countryside lovers. Really comfortable accommodation, clean and relaxed, with fabulous walks on the doorstep. Tory is a great host - her comms were so helpful and she was most welcoming. A very dog-friendly place too. We'd certainly go back. Thank you Tory!

    Elizabeth2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sadly it was really windy and the fire would blow out after about 5 mins ( probably something to do with our fire skills) but that’s nothing to do with the hosts! The apartment was great! Wish we’d stayed longer! Lesson for next time is to get fire skills

    Jordan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect accommodation for a wedding nearby. Great host and lovely place to stay

    David2020-02-15T00:00:00Z

    Daniel2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tory was an impeccable host helping us with everything we needed, in particular a small hot water problem one evening. She was very gracious and made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. The barn was beautiful, warm and cozy and the perfect place to finish a long day out. We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you Tory! I am sure we will be back!

    Samantha2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Tory's place is lovely - a short drive from Wimpole Hall and not too far from Cambridge city centre, we had a great long weekend. We tried the pub recommended which was excellent and much enjoyed the fresh orange juice, bread and jam that Tory left for us! A great stay!

Set in a 1840's Coach House your room is the upstairs of what was originally the Coach Store itself. Downstairs is our garage so you are completely separated from the main house. Above the bed is a large verlux window which can open in summer to let in fresh air and all year round floods the room with light. The window has a blind for night times. The access is via the back door of the house where you have use of the utility room which has a selection of tea's and instant or filter coffee facilities. There is also a kettle and plates, cups, glasses and cutlery for you to use. After the utility room you'll find a small hall space with stairs leading up to your bedroom and a door into your private bathroom, which has an electric shower, washbasin and WC.

  • Surprisingly nice accommodation split over two floors. Very friendly and welcoming family. Parking is a bit of a squeeze though, so make sure you fold your car's wing-mirrors in!

    Rob2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Spent two nights in Potton for a family reunion. Fiona's was the perfect location, in a quiet spot, close to the main town square. Compared to the £100 a night for a local hotel the other members of my family had to pay this was excellent value. Guests need to be aware that if you have mobility issues the bedroom is upstairs. The bathroom and kitchenette are on the ground floor. I would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone thinking of staying in Potton.

  • This is a great place to stay and Toni is a perfect host. The facilities are spotless and there are thoughtful touches. Excellent.

    Raymond2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • A1! Our stay was our best yet with Airbnb. The little touches were so well thought out, making our stay here wonderful. Toni certainly has the eye for beautiful items as can be seen in her stylish home. But more than a well appointed but stiff 5* hotel, this house was full of love which manifested itself in the welcome we felt. We will definitely be back.

    Andrew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend Toni’s place. The bedroom is of ample size, with a very comfy bed. Also supplied is an array of hot drinks in the room. There is plenty of wardrobe and draw space, for those guests who need longer stays. On top of all that, Toni let’s you have free range of the kitchen, to make meals.

  • Really great place to stay stunning

  • Visited for Christmas 2019. We've stopped at several Lodges over the years and this was by far the best for several reasons. So luxurious and very large. Charlie & Co have excelled and set the bar very high. Very modern, clean, comfortable & decorated with uniqueness. We've also stayed at many Self Catering / Air BNB and this Lodge had the best equipped kitchen we have ever had! They are very new so will return in a couple years once planting has established. Great location for small villages. Best for quiet relaxing families/teenagers, rather than young ones. Although it would be perfect for wildlife families xx

    Katherine2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at St John's lodge. It was very clean and comfortable. Loved the little touches. Hot tub looking over the lake was perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we cant wait to stay here again!

    Laura2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is the nicest Airbnb I have stayed in. It's beautiful, the views are amazing and the extra touches were really appreciated. The heated flooring in the bathroom was great given the cold temperatures outside when we stayed.

    Chess2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Cambridgeshire Lakes (St. Johns Lodge) at the start of November 2019. The photos on the website are 100% accurate, if anything they don't do the lodge justice! The whole lodge is beautiful and extremely cosy! The whole process from booking through to arrival was extremely smooth and professional, and even received a message from the owners to inform us about the Fireworks Display that was being held over the weekend we stayed. If you are looking for a break from a hectic world, then this really does tick the boxes... watching the sunset from the warmth of the hot tub on the large decked area was very special! I'm certainly looking forward to returning, as it will only improve with the grounds only just being planted, once it is established it will enhance the experience further! A massive congratulations to Jemma and Charlie for providing such a wonderful experience!

  • Sharon and Tom very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful views from the barn.

  • This apartment is superb value for money and such a lovely place to stay. Surrounded by paddocks and horses, tucked away on a quiet residential road, the bed is so comfy I didn’t want to leave it. Spotlessly clean with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Sharon is a lovely host and I really hope I need to visit the area for work again just so I have an excuse to stay here again!

    Katherine2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • I don’t know where to start, this accommodation is just wonderful! Clean, spacious, and has everything you need for a stay away from home. Lovely furniture giving a lovely warming feel to the property which is really important to me. Fantastic communication from Sharon with really clear instructions of how to find the Barn and the process of checking in and out. Excellent WiFi too. Stayed here with my cockapoo who also rated it with 5 stars! I commute weekly from Bristol to Bedford and since finding the Barn I have booked up as many overnight stays as possible for the next few months!

    Helen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation, super comfy bed and really great value. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

    Lois2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for a quiet stay, I was made to feel very welcome, as well as my dogs. The Barn was immaculately clean and was stocked with everything I needed for a stay (not food), but the milk in the fridge was extremely welcome. It was quiet, immaculately maintained inside and out, and a lovely flat 4 acre field to walk my dogs. I thoroughly recommend this place. :)

The Little Hop House is a beautifully restored 250 year old building expertly converted from an Old Hop store to a one bedroom annex. It has a fully fitted kitchen, living room, large bedroom and bathroom, making this unique space perfect if you are working in the area, a weekend get away or an over night stop whilst visiting the beautiful historic city of Cambridge. A log burner and under floor heating will ensure your stay is cosy and snug even in the winter months.
The Little Hop House is in the garden of a family home, guests have private access and off street parking. This is an ideal place to stay for the many local wedding venues including South Farm, Longstowe Hall and Minstrel Court. These are all within an easy 20 minutes drive from Gamlingay.
The Village of Gamlingay, mentioned in the doomsday book has many amenities including two pubs and a cafe (LJ`s) well known for its great breakfast and coffee and lunches. There is also a fabulous Farm shop (Woodview) 2 minutes drive away selling local produce and serving home cooked food in their restaurant.
  • Sarah’s place is absolutely stunning. My boyfriend and I needed a night away from London and I could not recommend this barn enough! The town of Gamlingay is scenic and quiet (perfect for getting away from a city hustle and bustle) and Sarah’s place is truly the highlight. Although in a barn, it’s modern touches and comfortable interior make it one of the home-iest (definitely not a word but you get it) Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in. Plus there are loads of board games in the house and a fire place which just topped off it’s cuteness! Definitely recommend!!

    Erica2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect.

    Simon2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • As promised in numerous other reviews, Sarah was on hand to meet us on arrival and when we left. The place is immaculate and kitchen particularly well-equipped. Couldn't fault it!

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place is marvellous. We had a 10 day stay in early March and it was like being in a home from home. Sarah has made the space so comfortable and it is beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The downstairs has a log burner and underfloor heating and is wonderfully cosy. We love to cook and although the kitchen space is fairly small, the equipment is excellent, and everything looks new and very functional. Even the cooking knives were REALLY sharp, which is unusual in most rentals. The bedroom and shower room are also very comfortable, stylish and roomy, and the shower is marvellous, especially after a long walk in chilly March. Gamlingay turned out to be a lovely friendly village with local shops, farm shops and cafes. We greatly enjoyed the hospitality of the local pubs too. All in all, we can’t recommend The Little Hop House highly enough. If you need to spend some time in South Cambs/ Beds this is perfect. We visited Duxford, The Shuttleworth Collection, Wimpole Hall (NT) and the RSPB HQ reserve near Sandy. There are also plenty of good walks in the Gamlingay area with some lovely nature reserves. Thank you to Sarah and Stuart for being so welcoming and helpful and for creating such a great place. Don’t change anything!! I hope we will return.

    Jane2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful place to stay. Bed was really comfy and shower was lovely and powerful. We had everything in there that we needed and more. All the little touches were great and decor was really smart/high end. Much bigger than it looks in the pics and really homely with the underfloor heating. Great places nearby for brekkie and dinner. I’m ganna come again with the hubby as he’s jealous it was so nice.

    Hayley2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Looking for somewhere to stay for a weekend to explore Cambridge, I came across this fantastic place, a mere 20 minute easy drive from the Park&Ride. I was drawn to its quirkiness being a converted Hop store and it didn’t disappoint! It’s been beautifully renovated to a very high standard of finish. And the main plus points, the list is long! Easy parking right outside the front door. It’s very warm and cosy, with underfloor heating and a log burner. The kitchen area is incredibly well equipped and stylishly done. So much so we decided to stay in and cook rather than head to the pub! Everything has been thought of, even quality coffee and decaf teabags. The bedroom area is lovely and relaxing, comfy bed with quality cotton linens and plenty of pillows. The shower is large and strong water pressure (no trickling!) with fluffy towels and shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided. Everything is spotlessly clean, we felt like the first people ever to stay here. Considering the prices of other things closer to Cambridge, this offers exceptionally good value for money. After a day sightseeing, it was a real treat to come back and put our feet up at the little Hop house. I would heartily recommend staying at Sarah‘s lovely place. We were made to feel thoroughly welcome by her and her family, and really appreciated all the hard work that’s gone into making this a fantastic conversion. Thank you Sarah, we had a perfect Valentines weekend ❤️

  • Sarah was absolutely amazing! The house beautiful. Nothing was too much trouble for Sarah. Highly recommend.

  • The Little Hop House is the perfect, warm, comfortable, tastefully furnished, quiet retreat to come back to unwind and relax! Travelling by car is very easy to Cambridge Park & Ride and the Cathedral city of Ely and surrounding area and nearby National trust Wimpole Estate. We’re looking forward to returning soon. Thanks Sarah for being such a welcoming host!

The Barn is designed to provide a calm, welcoming place for guests to stay who want more than just a bed for the night. There is a small kitchen with microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge, a wet room and a sunny sitting room with a dining table and tv. Milk and bread are provided and tea and coffee is in the cupboard! We are situated just off the village green, well away from the road, yet just a few minutes drive to the A1, Biggleswade and the Shuttleworth Collection.
The Barn was converted some 8 years ago and is in the garden of our 17th Century Yeoman's House. It is independent and separate from our house, but it is also part of our garden, which guests are welcome to use. We have 2 dogs, a daschund called Bertie and a border terrier called Bess, who you can be as involved with or as separate from as you like! The cats are in the garden at times and if you would like to feed the chickens or collect yourself some eggs, please do!
Upper Caldecote is a pleasant village with a shop, a church, a school and a post office. We have lots of good pubs for eating and drinking in neighbouring villages, with The Crown at Northill being a decent 25 minute walk (or 5 minute drive!) away.
  • Great little spot. Private, quiet and relaxing, but at the same time only a very short drive from the A1, so it's perfect. Nice large space and self check in which is great. Sparkling clean. Would definitely recommend.

  • Stayed here for a month and it was so lovely. Host brought homemade biscuits on arrival and was available if we needed anything. Place is very cozy.

    Shannon2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Upper Caldecote is definitely worth a stay. The surrounding area is great for long country walks and the people we've met are friendly and welcoming. Bedford, about 15 Minutes by car away has nice little cafes, beautiful parks, the Embankment of the river Ouse and a Market on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Fresh local produce

    Petra2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, everything you might need, great friendly and amenable hosts. Can not recommend highly enough.

    Angie2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was just like the photos. The shower was warm & powerful, the beds were comfortable, the place was warm, clean and stylish. Kitchenette was fine for reheating our supermarket ready meal. We had a great stay (Apart from the windy weather restricting the airshow...)

    Simon2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This converted barn is in a great location, wonderfully peaceful, and handy for local places to visit, such as Wrest Park and the RSPB 'The Lodge' reserve. Christine was a great host, providing helpful advice on places to eat. The barn itself is comfy, and has a great shower. It only has a kitchenette, rather than a full kitchen, which I hadn't realised before I visited, however everything in the kitchenette worked really well. I would definitely recommend this place to others as a good place to stay when visiting this part of England.

This ground floor studio apartment is based in a converted garage/barn. This is situated in the grounds of a three acre smallholding, overlooking the field with sheep grazing, this accommodation will give you a peaceful break in the countryside, whether you are taking a break, seeking accommodation for visiting relatives or on business. The apartment has its own discreet entrance but can be used together with the first floor apartment for a family of four as there is an inter-connecting door.
The apartment has a shower room and kitchen area complete with fridge, washing machine, table top oven/grill, kettle and toaster. The 3' zip link beds can be made up as 2 singles or as a super king. You just need to advise prior to arrival. A welcome pack of basic food items is provided on your arrival. There is a gas BBQ for use by guests and you are welcome to wander the large garden.
My smallholding is just one of a whole road of identical holdings which, at one time, form part of the Land Settlement Association, set up in the 1930s as market gardens . Whilst they were at one time identical they are now all slightly different, many with stables and horses . If you are a golfer, there are two courses within a few miles which are open to the public or for something more leisurely there is the Y spa at Wyboston Lakes. In nearby Eaton Socon there are two supermarkets, Aldi and Lidl, also restaurants.
  • Such a warm, welcoming place with lovely views over the countryside. Very calm and clean, and Anne had provided ample supplies so anyone arriving late would never be hungry or thirsty! Quiet and peaceful with a very comfortable bed, lashings of hot water, off road parking. Accommodation was of a high standard, and felt very safe.

  • Eileen’s place is lovely, feels very homely and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend away. Eileen’s communication both before, during and after our stay was spot on and her home stocked with lovely touches such as milk, juice and other breakfast items. We loved sitting in the quirky garden (the action men are a brilliant touch!) especially on Saturday afternoon when it was bathed in glorious sunshine. Bath was great for a relaxing soak and the bed was super comfy...I can’t recall sleeping so well! Eileen’s place is close to all local amenities and she had left us details of where to go and what to see in the local area. AirBnB hosting does not get better than this and to top it off it was superb value for money. We will definitely look to return for a repeat stay when we are in the area. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, Eileen.

A comfortable single room in a two bedroom house. Rental includes the use of the whole house (ie. bathroom, kitchen, living room, and garden. PLEASE NOTE.my house is in biggleswade which is just outside bedford[between bedford and cambridge]please check my map for exact location. Mine is an old, terraced house which is warm and cosy with a nice garden. if you are looking for an ultra modern pad with all mod cons this is not my place - it is a nice place to stay when you can't be at home. It's only a ten minute walk to the station and the train takes 45 minutes into London or a 1 minute drive from the A1M and an hour's drive to London. It's also only an hour away fron the centre of Cambridge. I do also have one friendly dog, so pet lovers only please. Please note, my room would be suitable for any students coming to study in Cambridge, but my room is not actually in Cambridge but a 30 minute train journey away. my listing also includes wifi.

  • I was living in Anne's house for 5 months. Anne is such a nice and warm hearted person. I always felt comfortable with her and her lovely dog. Although I was studying and working from home, I have never felt limited in my freedom. Whenever I needed something, she or her partner helped me which I am very very thankful for. I always had great sleep because of the comfortable bed and the area is very quiet as well. There is a lot of beautiful nature around where you can relax and the connection to London is also very great (it takes around 30 minutes by train). I can recommend Anne 100 %, she will make you feel like home !

NOW WITH BEAUTIFUL WOOD BURNING HOT TUB. Our beautiful boutique Cambridgeshire retreat is perfect for groups, holiday makers and business travellers alike. Although this listing is for 4 people, we can sleep 24+; so please get in touch if you're looking for a peaceful country pad at which to relax, work or celebrate. Although our barns are rural, they are only a 20 minute drive from historic Cambridge, so provide a great base from which to explore this great city.
Clopton Courtyard is set in the midst of the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. The six barns have been built with an eco conscience, with timber frame structures and recycled building materials. They are also fuelled by a biomass boiler using renewable energy (which keeps the underfloor heating toasty warm). Each main barn has its own unique name, character and style, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and an open plan living area and kitchen. Matilda Studio offers open plan living and sleeping, while The Sheringham Hut provides a contemporary glamping space. There is also plenty of outdoor space in which to venture and relax, with lovely undisturbed views of the open countryside. You can sit and watch the horses in the livery next door or read a book in the sun trap courtyard. With Cambridge only 12 miles away (15-20 minute drive), it is easy access into the centre by car for those wanting to explore this historic city, but looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday or work environment. There is also plenty to do locally, with Burwash Manor and Wimpole Hall close by, along with lots of tasty gastro pubs. Clopton Courtyard is fully equipped for those looking for self catering accommodation but who want a little bit of extra luxury and peace. What makes this place special is the unique nature of the interiors, which have been designed to provide premium accommodation in a rural setting. Whether a bath in the bedroom, beautiful sliding barn doors, or a wet room, there is something to suit everyones' tastes and requirements. For more information, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help. We look forward to welcoming you to Clopton Courtyard and hope you like the barns as much as we do. N.B. Please note that our hot tub and fire pit will be closed during the COVID-19 crisis, and we recommend that guests avoid communal areas as much as possible and to keep a safe distance from other people staying. We are only taking new bookings from guests who meet the following criteria 'Where people live in these as interim abodes whilst their primary residence is unavailable they may continue to do so. Key workers can continue to stay in hotels or similar where required'. - taken from government guidelines re commercial accommodation.
We are very rural so it is lovely and quiet. A car is advisable or taxis will also pick up. Clopton Courtyard is 10 minutes from Royston, which has a large Tesco for all your shopping needs. If you prefer something a bit more special than Burwash Manor has a lovely farm shop and is around 10 minutes by car. Cambridge of course is a must see city and there is plenty to do there. Please contact us for more information.
  • Absolutely loved my stay. Such a beautiful place. Will definitely be booking again

  • Really lovely setting and ideally located for Cambridge and the surrounding villages. We stayed in Amba cottage, it had everything we needed. The weather put us off using the hot tub but Amba has a lovely, deep bath in the bedroom which made up for it! Clean, well equipped and a great location. (The Queen Adelaide pub in Croydon is well worth a visit if you don't fancy cooking!)

  • Beautifully laid out set of barns around a circular courtyard. The converted, spacious barn we were in was awesome: with a fabulous free-standing bath and luxury shower, a four poster bed and underfloor heating. Everything felt luxurious: the butler's sink, the comfortable sofa, the soft-closing kitchen units. We didn't have time to use the hot tub but had a quick look and, again, it was all beautifully laid out/organised. It's very convenient for Addenbrookes and Cambridge city centre.

  • We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed in the Amba barn which had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. The communal spaces are even lovelier, and there were always loads of wood for the wood-fired hot tub. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone considering a staycation here in the UK. It's got a few walking routes nearby and is only a 20-minute drive into Cambridge as well. Even though all the other barns were fully booked, we rarely saw anyone else and pretty much had the hot tub to ourselves. It was the perfect weekend.

    Rak2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully renovated barns; just be aware that they are isolated and there are no footpaths/hiking routes etc from the door. We had a fantastic time here with our 1 year old daughter, who particularly loved seeing the horses in the livery next door. The interior design is very impressive and the living space is immaculately clean. Stunning bathroom with huge roll top bath and walk-in rain shower. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

  • Absolutely fantastic stay in the Alice Barn, incredible value for your money and a nice drive into Cambridge. We loved it & will be back!

  • Me and my boyfriend were so excited about booking this trip; the place looked amazing in pictures and it definitely lived up to these in person. We thought there was outstanding attention to detail in the stylish bungalows, and furthermore supported by great communication from Cathy with check in and finding the place. This has been our favourite Airbnb we have ever stayed in and we definitely want to come back- the wood burning hot tub was amazing as well.

  • What an absolutely beautiful retreat, exceeding our expectations by miles! The lovely hosts provided amazing hospitality and were always on hand for an inquires we had. Getting around without a car can be a bit pricey but the cab services around Royston are VERY familiar with the courtyard as it’s the most popular in the area! Will definitely book again in the future.

  • The place was fantastic - clean, quiet and a lovely place to stay. If it wasn't so popular I would stay here every week. Thanks so much Cathy.

  • Perfectly appointed small cottage in a lovely courtyard development. Very clean and tidy with every amenity you could need. We will be back!

  • A great little studio apartment with plenty of space and everything you need to enjoy your stay. Cathy was a fantastic host, hugely helpful in the lead up to our stay and made it easy and efficient for check-in. Highly recommend Clopton Courtyard!

  • This was the third time I’ve stayed at Clapton Courtyard and I would definitely stay again. It’s a lovely venue to stay at.

  • This is the second time I’ve stayed at Clopton Coutyard. It’s a lovely place and I’ll definitely go back again.

  • With beautiful views over the countryside (from the common outside seating) this nicely decorated cabin with great modern bathroom facilities has everything you need to relax. I enjoyed sitting in the covered area by the hottub, and enjoyed the wood-fired hottub too (although I didn't give it quite long enough to heat up fully).

    Rulande2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was spacious, private and clean with all necessary appliances. Ideal location for my working week in Royston. Would definitely stay again

Old Fox Inn Annexe is an independent ground floor wing of The Old Fox Inn, a Grade 2 listed former pub dating from the mid 1700's. Chris and Sarah have just become the proud owners after buying the house from their friends who had already beautifully converted the annexe to a lovely space for airbnb guests. Set 9 miles from the historic city of Cambridge with good transport links. The property benefits from the use of a large garden with free range chickens and overlooking horse paddocks.
The Annexe has its own entrance and plenty of off road parking. It has been renovated with modern fixtures and fittings and is warm and cosy with central heating. There is a full kitchen with a table and four chairs, hob, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, cooking utensils, dinnerware, and coffee/tea making facilities. A welcome pack with a range of fresh breakfast produce; milk, cereals, bread, yogurts, jam, butter, eggs, tea, coffee, sugar is included on arrival. Towels and fresh linen are provided. The bedroom as a very comfortable king size bed with plenty of pillows and a fluffy duvet. This room also has a very comfortable single chair bed. The living room has a sofa, lovely to snuggle and read, or watch TV. This also converts into a full size comfortable double bed for extra guests and you will have fresh linen, plump pillows and a cosy duvet. The centre of the picturesque village of Bourn, (famous for it's pioneering work in the field of IVF) is five minutes away and offers the Willow Tree Pub, a very good Indian restaurant, a coffee shop, a butchers, a convenience store and a golf club. There are numerous local walks through the beautiful surrounding countryside. We are happy to help you with any recommendations. The historic Wimpole Hall Estate, a lovely National Trust property is 5-10 minutes away. The historic city of Cambridge is 15 minutes away by car. For trips into London, Royston station is only 15 minutes away and is much easier for parking. The fast train is under 40 minutes journey time.
The name Bourn is derived from the Old English burna or Old Scandinavian brunnr, meaning '(place at) the spring(s) or stream(s)'. It was spelled Brune in the 1086 Domesday book. Bourn has existed as a settlement for over a thousand years. Roman remains have been found along the Bourn Brook and near Bourn Hall. Evidence of Romano-British activity has been found along the top of the valley on the airfield, and, in the direction of Caxton. Three tumuli on Alms Hill are of Roman and Danish origin and the two which were excavated in 1909 contained Roman coins and pottery, a Celtic button and evidence of Danish feasting commemorating the death of a leader or celebrating a victory around 1010. The medieval village was in a wooded valley and developed along both sides of the Bourn Brook. The farming system of common grazing land and six large fields managed in a three-course rotation lasted until the Enclosure Act in 1809. (The ridge and furrow system of farming is still evident by the undulations in the paddock at The Old Fox Inn and in surrounding fields.) Bourn mill, The Post Mill dates from at least 1636. It is believed to be the second oldest surviving windmill in the UK. The present Bourn Hall is built on the site of a wooden castle that was burnt down during the Peasants' Revolt. A timber-framed house built early in the 16th Century was added to in 1602. The Hagar family left Bourn Hall in 1733 and the estate belonged to the De La Warrs until 1883. During this period Bourn was visited by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert while they were staying at Wimpole Hall. 5 miuntes around the corner from the Fox Inn Annex is Wysing Arts Centre, a research and development centre for the visual arts. Wysing Arts operates a year-round programme of public exhibitions, events, schools and family activities, alongside artistic residencies and retreats.
  • Great location especially if you have children. Our little boy loved the chickens and horses. Bed was really comfy and the place had a really nice feel to it

  • My girlfriend and I enjoyed our one night stay here. Nice and peaceful location but close enough to Cambridge. Lots of thoughtful touches like fresh eggs from the hens in the farm. Would have no hesitation in coming back.

  • Sarah provided invaluable instructions to help with locating the space. Upon arrival I was greeted by a stylish and well thought out space with all necessary amenities covered. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking for somewhere to rest in the area.

  • We had a fantastic night at Sarah's annexe. Absolutely lovely space with special touches all around to make our stay easier. Not to mention, our small person had a 2 hour nap, a true testament to the comfort of the space. Thanks Sarah

  • The rooms were very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the added touch of providing a fresh breakfast was an unexpected additional touch. Much appreciated.

  • Lovely little place a reasonable distance outside Cambridge. The city itself is easily accessible from the location. Sarah made our stay perfect with some thoughtful touches. Warm house with a comfy bed and a easy set up to cook and relax for evening. Perfect base to see the surrounding area.
