Places to stay in Potten End
This cosy luxurious self contained oak frame cabin offers the perfect peaceful setting for a relaxing getaway. Listen out and you may hear the owls at night. Backing onto the National Trust Ashridge Forest, this is perfect for outdoor lovers but equally suitable for a romantic night in. 1.5 miles down the road, the popular market town of Berkhamsted is offering atmospheric pubs and bars for a special treat out. The cabin offers comfortable, spacious living with King size bed.
Although the cabin is within the grounds of the main property, it is completely separated off by thick hedge rows to offer complete privacy to our guests. A path alongside the house leads the guests to their own entrance of the cabin. This cabin features all you need for a comfortable stay- a small bathroom with shower facility, a spacious open plan living room, an open plan kitchen with a hob and convection microwave oven grill and a comfortable King Size bed on the Mezzanine level, accessed by a ladder. It is furnished with cosy lighting, two comfortable sofas and a dining table. The cabin features a TV as well as a large DVD selection and Hi-Fi system. Kitchen: We also provide utensils so that our guests can choose to stay in and prepare their own meal if they wish. The back gate allows you to walk straight into the woods to explore 5000 acres of deer filled forest and its other wildlife. A 20 minute walk away you may wish to refresh yourself in the upmarket and cosy pub, the Alford Arms, in the idyllic Frithsden Valley where they even have their own vineyard. The cabin is only 1.5 miles away from the popular and trendy town centre of Berkhamsted, featuring a range of lively pubs and restaurants.
Our cosy little wood cabin is backing straight onto the woods, located in a quiet setting of the sleepy village Potten End, just minutes away from popular old market town Berkhamsted. You can literally walk out of the back gate into the woods and explore the nature. Here are a few tips and activities in the area: Ashridge Estate - a 5,000 acre area of the Chiltern Hills with beech and oak woodlands, commons and chalk downlands. These very different landscapes each support a rich variety of wildlife, including carpets of bluebells in spring, rare butterflies in summer and the fallow deer that rut in autumn. You can walk out of the back gate of the property into the woods and explore Miles of footpaths and bridleways. Frithsden Vineyard – Literally a 30 minute walk through the woods, and you will get to this beautiful boutique English vineyard and winery set in the foothills of the Chilterns. Besides a range of regular seasonal events you can also pass by and enjoy some of their home produced wines. Berkhamsted Town centre and Castle – have a stroll through Berkhamsted highstreet and explore Berkhamsted Castle's remains. The town has a special place in our history: following the Saxon defeat at the Battle of Hastings, it was at Berkhamsted that the bishops and noblemen formally offered William the Conqueror the crown. The Rex – "possibly Britain's most beautiful cinema" (BBC), the Rex has one huge screen set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium arch, with "the sharpest film projection and clearest non-booming sound anywhere in the world". The whole experience is delightfully civilized: sink into large, comfortable seats then sit back with cheese and wine to enjoy the film. Berkhamsted Waterways Walk – Go for a walk along the River Bulbourne andGrand Union Canal which run through the town and enjoy a cold drink in the popular Boat pub. Tring Natural History Museum – 5 miles from Berkhamsted. The wonderful galleries of this beautiful Victorian museum present a fascinating range of animals, from tiny dressed fleas to a smiling polar bear and domestic dogs. The Snow Centre – 5 miles from Berkhamsted. Britain's newest snow centre at Hemel Hempstead is currently the coolest place to go to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and other snow sports on indoor slopes of real snow. The main slope is 160m long and 30m wide, serviced by two POMA button lifts. The trainer slope is 100m long, with two rope tows. There are lessons for everyone new to snow, and clothing and equipment is on hand to hire. Whipsnade Zoo – 9 miles from Berkhamsted. Set on the slopes of the Chiltern Hills, the UK's biggest zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild. Whipsnade is noted for creating interactive and inspiring exhibits and popular daily events including keeper talks, animal feeds and demonstrations. You can drive through the 'Passage through Asia' or take the free Safari bus which stops at all the main exhibits in the 600 acre site. Harry Potter, Warner Bros. Studio Tour – the Making of Harry Potter – 9.7 miles from Berkhamsted. A visit to the Harry Potter World offers you an insight behind the scenes to showcase a huge array of beautiful sets, costumes and props and to reveal the secrets of the special effects and animatronics that made these films hugely popular all over the world.

Checking in and out was super simple. The surrounding area has plenty to offer and guests who are new to the area are provided with plenty of useful info. We loved our stay here.

  • We will definitely be returning, and hopefully when the weather is better - the only thing that could have topped our stay is if the sun was shining!

  • Lilli’s oak cabin is beautiful. Privately situated next to a pretty woodland, it is warm, cosy peaceful and has a special quality of being both rustic and elegant. It has everything you’d need to feel at home, as well as some lovely additonal touches. The surrounding countryside, quaint old towns and villages are stunning. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

Beautiful 4 bed bungalow situated in stunning countryside. There are two great village pubs that offer evening meals. If your looking for a quite space, then look no further! We are home most of the time but tend to keep ourselves out of the way when we have guests. Please note over a weekend my minimum numbers are 8 people, and we can cater up to 14 people but this involves the use of the living room as an additional bedroom.
Beautiful 4 bed house in Studham, Bedfordshire, only 15 mins from a mainline train station which links directly to London in only 35 mins. PLEASE NOTE: THE POOL IS ONLY HEATED BETWEEN MAY AND SEPTEMBER, outside these months the pool is UNAVAILABLE. House benefits from large open plan living, indoor heated swimming pool, 4 large double bedrooms, home theatre system and a very large garden which is home to a bunch of chickens and roosters, 2 cats, a pond full of fish and 2 Alpacas! The property is located in a traditional English village, located near Whipsnade Zoo and about 10 mins by car to Luton Airport. What to see and do : Gliding club Whipsnade park Golf Club Plenty of country walks Ivinghoe Beacon Dunstable Downs - great for kite flying and pic-nics! Award winning Village pubs, providing evening meals and also do cooked breakfast on a weekend Cycle rides Ashridge country park Horse riding - Ashridge Horse Trecking Indoor Ski Slope - Hemel Hempstead Breakfast consisting of cereals, toast, tea and coffee will be provided. Full office facilities are available including free wifi! Rooms for rent have own digital TV, direct access to the swimming pool, spa and gym. The rooms are very large. Also able to provide portable beds if you wanted additional beds in any of the rooms for the children. You will also have access to shared kitchen, living space and very large garden. Please note, all the bedrooms have two doors - one normal door leading into the bedroom from the main hall way in the house and a set of patio doors leading out onto the pool. These patio doors can be locked and the key removed if you are worried about the children wondering into the pool area without supervision! You will have your own private bathroom although this is not en -suite. However I will only let out to one party at a time so you will never be sharing a bathroom with strangers! If you are a large party don’t worry we have 3 bathrooms plus 2 additional WC rooms so you will never be short of a shower or loo! PLEASE NOTE: THE POOL IS ONLY HEATED BETWEEN MAY AND SEPTEMBER, outside these months the pool is UNAVAILABLE. During the winter months we usually empty the pool for maintenance, however I will make sure that the spa pool is nice and hot for you if you request it! When the pool is heated the hot tub is available for an additional fee. Pets are NOT allowed I have a travel cot and high chair available for babies. Please note - I do have two cats so if you are allergic then I don't think this will be the best place for you. Although the cats are generally not allowed into the bedrooms.
Lovely traditional English village with 2 great pubs, surrounded by beautiful countryside with easy access to London.
  • My four girls and I spent five nights at Liesa’s house. We were made to feel very welcome. Her house is amazing! The girls loved feeding the animals and gathering eggs. Liesa goes above and beyond to make your stay special. An example of this was the time she spent teaching my youngest to knit. Chloe was absolutely delighted with the flower they made together. We have already booked our next stay!

    Angela2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and good comfy beds. Very accommodating host.

    Iain2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great couple of nights in an amazing home. The beds were really comfy, the hot tub was great, lots of firdge/storage space for food that we got delivered from Tesco to the house. There was 12 of us and we were a very loud bunch and Liesa was very understanding of this. Could not fault the trip at all and would deffinitely recommend, either for big groups or a nice couple's retreat to the countryside. On New Years day we all went on a walk and Liesa recommended a great route, which ended at the lovely Bell pub a short walk down the road from the house. The animals are cute and we felt really at home. The kitchen is great for big group meals to cook and plenty of space to dance! All in all a perfect stay.

  • Liesa has an incredible house. Her attention to the details and clever decoration ideas transformed our stay into a once in a lifetime experience. Hopefully we can repeat this one day! ;)

    Victor2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The 5-star reviews on this place are no joke---indeed, they are most accurate. The place is beautiful with plenty of fun and relaxation to be had inside and outside. The house is gorgeous with a spacious and comfortable living room, large dining space, decent sized swimming pool, and a hot-tub. There are really nice and quaint local pubs and stunning countryside walks. If you didn't already feel like you would have sufficient activities, there are multiple geocaching spots and a wildlife park within a short distance. Eight of us spent the weekend here for a stag-do and had a fantastic time. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

A practical, shabby chic decor. The room is newly decorated to a high spec, including a new bathroom, shower, double bed, 36" TV with freeview, ironing and desk, we provide a fridge, plates and cutlery, a heater/air cooler, extra blankets and pillows. We provide a light breakfast which is fruit and a pastry, we come in DAILY to clean + replenish amenities. The room comes with an en-suite, and has its own separate front entrance and is (Attached) but locked off from the rest of the house.
The space is unique due to its new decor and position within the country. We are a 20 min train journey to the heart of London. The house is located next to lush fields perfect for walkers all year round, we are located at the end of a dead end road so you will hear no traffic or late night noise, which is also added safety for cars parking out the front. The Harry Potter studios are located an 8 minute drive from the house, along with Watford town centre a 16 minute drive and the Village high street a 2 minute drive away.
We live in a cul-de-sac with no through traffic and a quiet road, furthermore we are also located next to loads of walking fields with great paths to walk. So please feel free to park anywhere, including the bays and disabled bay as it's only an advisory bay.

A quiet retreat in a beautiful village not too far from London in Little Gaddesden near Berkhamsted you will find this 5 bedroom Coach House. It is on the outskirts of Ashridge - which was King Henry the 8th's hunting lodge. The house has private access to the unspoilt and often unknown 5000 acres deer park known as Ashridge. It is perfect for walkers and cyclists.
Fabulous location for walkers and cyclists. Walking in Ashridge is amazing. See link from National Trust for various walks around the estate. (URL HIDDEN)
Little Gaddesden From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia St. Peter and St. Paul Church at Little Gaddesden, where many Egerton family members are buried in the Bridgewater Chapel Little Gaddesden is a village and civil parish in the English county of Hertfordshire three miles north of Berkhamsted. As well as Little Gaddesden village (population 694), the parish contains the settlements of Ashridge (population 53), Hudnall (population 139), and part of Ringshall (population 81).[1] The total population at the 2011 Census was 1,125.[2] Part of the parish was formerly in Buckinghamshire. This includes Witchcraft Bottom, notable as the alleged location where the last witch in Buckinghamshire was tried and hanged. The village of Little Gaddesden borders both Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, whilst being situated in the county of Hertfordshire. Little Gaddesden and the surrounding area of the Ashridge Estate is owned and managed by the National Trust. This area has been used in many films, notably: First Knight, Stardust, the Harry Potter series, Son of Rambow and more recently Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe. TV programmes filmed here include Marchlands, Midsomer Murders Lewis, Cranford, and a Jamie Oliver[3] advertisement for Sainsburys. Little Gaddesden has many period properties, of note: Ashridge House, (designed by Sir James Wyattville along with gardens and grounds designed by Sir Humphrey Repton and Capability Brown - Golden Valley) The Manor House situated on the Green along with John O’Gaddesden House and Marian House, Little Gaddesden House along Nettleden Road heading towards the hamlet of Nettleden and the Old Rectory past the village shop heading to Ringshall. Lamsey Farm - (URL HIDDEN) - 193359 The Ashridge Estate that surrounds the village is a 5,000-acre (20 km2) area of open countryside and woodland on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, with a rich variety of wildlife including fallow dear, muntjac and the renowned red kite. There are large areas of mature woodlands with carpets of spring bluebells and fine autumnal displays, along with the panorama from the Bridgewater Monument. In the early 17th century, Thomas Egerton, 1st Viscount Brackley, had purchased Ashridge House, one of the largest country houses in England, from Queen Elizabeth I, who had inherited it from her father who had appropriated it after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. Ashridge House served the Egerton family as a residence until the 19th century. The Egertons later had a family chapel (the Bridgewater Chapel) with burial vault in Little Gaddesden Church,[4] where many monuments commemorate the Dukes and Earls of Bridgewater and their families.[5] Among those buried here is the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater,[6] famous as the originator of British inland navigation and the Bridgewater Canal. Little Gaddesden is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a Conservation Area protected by the National Trust. There is a vigorous community life with 30 different clubs and societies. The oldest of these is probably the Women's Institute (founded in 1919) and the Royal British Legion. Local amenities include the famous Ashridge Golf Course, Alford Arms public house, Bridgewater Arms public house, Little Gaddesden village shop and post office, Munn's Farm Shop, Grove Farm, Little Gaddesden Primary School, Little Gaddesden Cricket Club, Ivinghoe Beacon, Pitstone Windmill, Frithsden Vineyard, Gaddesden Place, the Gaddesden Estate, Walter Swinburn racing stables, Stocks House, Ashridge Business School also known as Ashridge House, London Gliding Club, Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Zoo. Nearby villages and Hamlets: Aldbury, Great Gaddesden, Gaddesden Row, Frithsden, Nettleden, Potten End, Ivinghoe, Northchurch, Ringshall, Studham, Dudswell, Wigginton, Dagnall, Flamstead. Local residents are kept updated on events in Little Gaddesden through the Gaddesden Diary, published seasonally. The Parish News also provides a further summary. Famous residents who live in the village, include: football commentator John Motson, Formula One driver Mark Webber,[7] ex-footballers Luther Blissett and Tim Sherwood, actor Adrian Scarborough, news correspondent Fiona Bruce and radio presenter Roger Bolton. Singer Sarah Brightman was brought up in the village. Entrepreneur and founder of Barenaturals Darcey Croft, was born and raised in the village, Ronnie Wood, a member of the Rolling Stones, owns a house in the village.
  • Thank you Jan for a fabulous stay at your lovely home. Just celebrated my wife’s 60th birthday at the coach house and had a wonderful time. Your extra touches were much appreciated and helped to make our stay much more memorable. Looking forward to staying again in the future. Barry & Jean

  • I highly recommend the house for a great get away, the house is amazing and Jan provides a lovely welcome. Would happily have stayed for longer and explored the area more.

  • An incredible, beautiful venue with plenty of room, great for our group of friends during some particularly rainy weekend. Janette is an incredible host providing us with a lovely lasagne and loads of breakfast food. We were really impressed. Unfortunately there was a little trouble with the hot tub, but we were kept up to date by Janette and we were still able to thoroughly relax and enjoy ourselves. We would definitely return again.

  • Jan and her Airbnb are lovely! Jan was full of helpful suggestions and quick with communication. The Airbnb looks fab, was really toasty and has great communal spaces perfect for larger groups. Thanks for a lovely stay Jan!

    Blaire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous weekend at Jan's place. Everything was really wonderful and it couldn't have been better. Jan left a fantastic hamper for us with breakfast goodies, fizz and lasagne for supper too which was very well received and we loved it. The house is really lovely and warm and the hot tub a real treat too. The location was perfect with a great pub within walking distance for a post hike reward. The local surroundings are gorgeous and we really enjoyed stretching our legs. The local shop is very handy for any extras you may need. We had a fantastic Chinese take away with very prompt delivery service. A really fabulous touch was the Alexas! We had forgotten ours but luckily the house had not just one but too and so we had music to while away the hours relaxing in front of the roaring fire. Thank you Jan for a super weekend and we will most definitely return as it was the perfect country retreat for this group of mums on tour xx

  • Beautiful house in lovely area. Surprisingly good for young children, not having stairs to worry about, and having such a great garden (especially in summer). Communication with Janette was excellent and she went the extra mile preparing cot, highchair etc. We were greeted with a selection of foodstuffs so that you don't immediately have to dash out to buy things. Beds comfortable with beautiful bed linen and a lovely sitting area. Would happily recommend it.

  • A beautiful apartment, very close to Heathrow, right on the high street with a great selection of restaurants and shops. Chorleywood is a lovely area too. The apartment has everything you need in it, comfortable bed and a lovely touch having the eggs, bread, milk and butter for when we arrived. Caroline was very helpful in answering any questions and making sure we were going to have a good stay. Parking in the area is a bit tricky but we found the station had long term parking and in close walking distance. Check in and out was easy. All the information we needed was in a manual in the apartment. Highly recommend staying in Caroline’s apartment.

  • Superb accommodation, very clean, very high standard of decoration and furnishings, warm, quiet and good local amenities, great location

    Martin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is an excellent host and prompt in her communication. I was travelling on a business visit with two other colleagues. She had made sure she gave all instructions well documented and that really helped us to locate the property and other minute detailed instructions about the heater, washer etc were really helpful. Caroline had also kept a welcome kit of eggs, bread, milk etc and that was helpful after a tiring journey. Very thoughtful on her part. The place is very well designed and excellent utilisation of space. Made us feel at home and it is a very warm and positive place. Few restaurants, bakery and grocers are bang opposite the property. Would definitely recommend this property.

    Rahul2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a spacious and thoughtfully decorated place. It is well stocked and had everything we needed for our weekend. Caroline kindly left us breakfast supplies which was a lovely touch and really helpful. The bed in the master bedroom is huge and so very comfy...we had the best night's sleep! There are shops, restaurants and cafes nearby on the high street. It's very convenient as the station is very close...even better that you don't hear the trains! We found parking no problem. Caroline communicated well and check-in was easy. We had a lovely stay!

    Rachel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is perfect in Caroline's little house. Everything is very well described to reach the accommodation. Caroline is very available to answer questions. The house is very beautiful pity it is so far from the center of London

    Stéphanie2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely apartment. The 4 poster bed is a dream to sleep in (no pun intended). Caroline ensured we had everything we need well ahead of time.Had no reason to contact her throughout my stay, which is always a good sign. The apartment is slap-bang in the middle of Chorleywood with everything at on your doorstep. I'd recommend to anyone (especially if visiting Harry Potter world which is just 14 mins away.)

    Stuart2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent! Public transport was an easy walk down the street, and Caroline provides detailed instructions to find the apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Lodge is located in our garden adjacent to beautiful woodland in the picturesque village of Potten End, 5 minutes drive from the town of Berkhamsted. The accommodation comprises an open plan lounge/kitchenette (with coffee machine, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave)/diner with 2 sofa beds and large bedroom with a super king bed and shower room/toilet. There is also a hot tub available upon request, located in the garden of the main house (we pull down our blinds for your privacy).
The lodge is a cosy and tranquil place to stay with a super king size bedroom and open plan kitchenette/diner/lounge. There are some stunning woodland and countryside walks on the doorstep with 5000 acres of woodland to explore. The award winning pub, the Alford Arms, is only a 20 minute walk away, located in the idyllic village of Frithsden. In the village there is a lovely pub called Martin's Pond, just 5 minutes walk away.
There is a lot to do in the immediate locality, and we are well placed for getting into London or to other parts of the country. Here are some of our recommendations: - Walk or cycle along the canal in Berkhamsted. You can park beside the Canal Fields playground. - Browse around "Berko" - This charming town has a lot going for it. There is a multitude of places to get a good coffee or a meal and some interesting shops to take in. Markets are held in the centre of town on Saturday and Wednesday mornings and are to be recommended for the artisan bakery, the fruit and veg stall and the meat, fish and cheese counters. - Berkhamsted Castle - This 13th Century ruin is free to visit and is a great spot for a walk or for a picnic. Children will enjoy the large grassy expanse and the opportunity to kick a ball around or throw a frisbee. - Bridgewater Monument at Ashridge Estate - The Ashridge Estate (www.nationaltrust.org.uk/ashridge-estate) is 5,000 acres of National Trust countryside and woodland just on the edge of Berkhamsted. There are many places to explore by foot or by bike. The monument is the most popular part of all, with a coffee shop, gift shop and an opportunity to climb up to the top of the monument itself for some terrific views of the countryside. - The Rex Cinema (www.therexberkhamsted.com) – described by many as one of the best independent cinemas in the country. A beautifully restored cinema; opulent and comfortable, with great legroom and a licensed bar. Booking a ticket can be a challenge (either turn up in person, or call the box office on 01442 877759), but if you have the opportunity, do try and go! - Day trip to Mead Open Farm – circa 20 minutes drive away near Leighton Buzzard - Day trip to Willows Farm – 25 minutes drive away near St Albans, Junction 22 of the M25. - Day trip to Whipsnade Zoo – 15-20 minutes drive away near Dunstable. - Day trip to London - take the train, the fastest being 28 minutes into Euston station, and keep an eye out for the London Midland (www.londonmidland.com) promotions which can be very good value.
  • We had a lovely relaxing time here, went for walks in Ashridge Estate and dinner at the Alford Arms and went away feeling nice and refreshed!

  • We stayed the one night of a two-day walking holiday in the Chilterns. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Location-wise, it was excellent for us, since we wanted to be able to walk everywhere (it is a 40min walk from Berkhamstead railway station, a 20min walk from a wonderful pub, and generally very close to amazing walks in the area). We'll be coming back!

The location is excellent if you need to travel via the M1, M25 or the A41. I would always chose this B&B for a distance around the locality.

★ If you like a relaxed atmosphere you’ll enjoy staying in this bright single bedroom in a quiet area of Amersham. A convenient place to stay for business or travel; just a 1 minute walk to the nearest footpath to the Chess Valley and 15 minutes’ walk to the train station with great links to London. ★ 10 minutes walk to the high street with shops, restaurants and many fine coffee shops (I'm happy recommend my favourite). ★ Walk or drive to historic Amersham Old Town. ★ Superfast broadband.
A convenient place to stay for people visiting the area, from business travellers and conference attendees to wedding guests and cyclists. Guests will be sharing my home and are more than welcome to make themselves at home here. You have your own private bedroom and share a bathroom with other guests (I have my own separate bathroom so I won't get in your way). There is also a downstairs toilet. You are most welcome to use the kitchen, living rooms, TV and garden/patio and I would encourage you to do so. Breakfast is on a DIY basis. Help yourself to tea, fresh coffee (I have French Press or Aeropress), make smoothies in the NutriBullet, or juice with the juicer. Bread, juice, fruit, (healthy) cereals are available, and you may even like to try my home-made granola. I’m a bit of a dairy free lover so apart from normal milk and butter most things in my fridge are dairy free alternatives. Let me know if this doesn’t suit you. There is limited parking on the drive but ample free, safe, unrestricted parking on the street. There is also room in the garage to store your bicycle if you are a cyclist.
Amersham is a beautiful market town with a rural feel yet only a 35-minute train ride into London. It's the last stop on the London Underground Metropolitan line. It's also within easy reach of the M25, M40 and M4. Twenty minutes’ drive to Watford and Aylesbury and 15 minutes’ drive to High Wycombe. The Old Town has a picturesque market town high street which has been the setting for many films. There are also pubs, delightful cafes and boutique shops. Amersham-on-the-Hill has excellent amenities including a Waitrose, M&S Food, Metro Bar & Restaurant, Pizza Express, Harris & Hoole coffee shop, and a Craft Beer shop. The house is a 1 minute walk from open countryside, and we are a great location as a base for cyclists.

I felt at home there immediately, being allowed freedom to use the lounge, kitchen and dining room in addition to bedroom and shared bathroom. She provided lovely breakfast variety, with everything from breakfast bars to home made muesli, eggs and toast. It was a lovely stay, and I'd recommend Claire's home to anyone. On street parking only but plentiful.

We're on the edge of Berkhamsted, a charming market town with a canal going through it, 30 minutes from London. We are 20 minutes walk from the train station/town centre, right by the woods and golf course, so great for walks. Our house feels modern, minimalist, clean and tidy. There is a lot of light as big windows and it has a nice, airy feel to it. It is smartly decorated and a 4 bedroom house with just two of us living there, plus Merlin the dog and Mulberry the outlaw cat, rarely seen!
The guest room has its own en-suite bathroom and is in a very separate, private part of the house so you will not be disturbed. It will suit people that just want to do their own thing and have their own privacy. We are busy people and although we live here, we are not around all the time so you will have plenty of your own space, plus we don't go into the annex at all.
This affluent and pretty town is really charming It's a small market town with a canal running through it and the ruins of a castle near the train station. 30 minutes on the train to Euston station. We have some amazing restaurants and pubs and what has been awarded by the BBC and the Sunday Times as the most beautiful cinema in the country.
  • If you want to sleep in a quiet area near London, this is recommended! Nice bed and personal attention.

  • We loved Tim's place so much, we booked a next few days!

    Lea2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are warm but not intrusive. The space is separate from the rest of the house, so you have privacy until you open the door to the kitchen. There is a spacious shower room adjoining the bedroom. It is in a quiet side road near the top of the hill. The bedroom window and door onto a private garden area. The duvet and pillows are lovely and fluffy. It is a very comfortable space.

In an annex of a family home, this is a brand new self-contained room with its own entrance and en-suite bathroom. As you enter you have an entrance lobby with room for coats, luggage and shoes, another door brings you into the bedroom. The room can be set up as a twin (as pictured) or as a single. The key is kept in a lock-box so you are welcome to come and go as you wish. The room also comes with a private car parking space on the gravel drive. Please let us know if you would like to use this.
The room is newly decorated in calm and pretty lilacs and blues, with a sitting area corner, with velvet armchair, long-pile rug, smart tv (Netflix, Amazon, iplayer & all catch-up channels), bookshelves, floor lamp, tea and coffee making facilities and coffee table. The bedroom also has a small wardrobe, two-drawer sideboard, large wall mirror, a bedside table and window. The en-suite bathroom has good hot shower, sink and loo and a large mirror. The bedroom is attached to the side of the main house, but there are two doors separating it - both will remain locked (one from inside the house and one from inside the bedroom).
Our house is right in the centre of historic Berkhamsted, from the door you can see Canal Fields park and the Grand Union Canal. Next door on one side is a squash and tennis club, the other side is just one neighbour and then a Lawn Bowls club. Use the bridge outside the house to cross the canal and you will be in the town centre: Berkhamsted High Street with its shops, cafes, restaurant and pubs (and market on Weds & Sats) is a mere 3 min walk away. Want to travel to London? Then all you need to do is walk 4 minutes through the park to reach Berkhamsted train station. Trains are approx every 20 minutes and take 35 minutes. Just beyond the station is the remains of Berkhamsted castle - built in 1066 by William the Conquerer. Want to stay local? Stroll down the canal tow path and stop at one of the many old canal-side pubs for a pint or a bite to eat. Love Harry Potter? The Warner Brothers Studio (Harry Potter Tour) is only a 15 min drive away - or 10 mins on the train. A short drive up the hill takes you to The Ashridge Estate and The Chiltern Hills with picturesque villages and country walks galore.
  • Dan was amazing with his communication when I didn't know whether I could come due to the Corona virus. I ended up being in lock down in France, but will certainly be staying here when the world has recovered, and we can travel freely once more.

★ If you like a relaxed atmosphere you’ll enjoy staying in this bright double bedroom in a quiet area of Amersham.
Guests will be sharing my home and are most welcome to make themselves at home here. You have your own private bedroom and share a bathroom with other guests (I have my own separate bathroom so I won't get in your way). There is also a downstairs toilet. You are more than welcome to use the kitchen, living rooms, TV and garden/patio and I would encourage you to do so. There is limited parking on the drive but ample safe, free, unrestricted parking on the street outside. There is also room in the garage for storing bicycles if you are a cyclist.

We provide high end accommodation for 2/4 people in an area which has plenty to offer in the heart of the stunning Chess Valley. Crestyl Cottage is a conversion of a redundant barn, originally used for watercress seed drying which has been converted into self catering holiday accommodation with wood fired hot tub.
Crestyl Cottage boasts a fabulous super king bed with luxury bedding, towels, dressing gowns and slippers. A 50 inch smart tv, broadband, a comfortable sofa bed for 2 extra guests, a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine and dish washer and a shower room. A welcome basket awaits your arrival, along with the wood fired hot tub. Crestyl Cottage is self catering so why not have your shopping delivered and unpacked ready for your arrival.
Crestyl Cottage is located on our watercress Farm. Our family have worked the land alongside the River Chess, Sarratt where we have cultivated watercress for 130 years. Crestyl is now the only working watercress farm on the Chess, one of originally 19 beds between Sarratt and Chesham, and the sole survivor in the whole of the Chilterns.
  • Sarah and Jon’s place is a little piece of heaven. It’s situated in the middle of beautiful countryside with a little river running outside the cottage. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean and very stylish. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. The hot tub is log fired and the water is fresh for each guest and free of chemicals. It really was blissful sitting in it in the evening. We arrived to a lovely bottle of wine and yummy biscuits. Such thoughtful touches. Jon met us when we arrived and was very helpful and kind, he even offered us a lift to ‘cricketers’, a local pub/restaurant which we ate at in the afternoon. It was such a wonderful stay, I can’t wait to go back!

Light bright 1880s house with a modern interior situated on a hill in a quiet residential area. 10 minutes walk from the centre of Berkhamsted. 15 minutes from the train station. This is my home and you are sharing spaces with me. Please note the house is non-smoking. Berkhamsted is a beautiful town with easy access to London nestling in the Chilterns. We have the Grand Union canal, a gorgeous Art Deco cinema, lovely restaurants and coffee shops.
Serene and calm with neutral colours on walls and neutral carpets. Well designed layout of the ground and second floors. Light and bright with lots of sunshine and blackout curtain linings to help you sleep. Beautiful garden where you are welcome to sit and enjoy bird song and fresh air. Take your coffee outside. Your bedroom is large, light and airy with a view of the garden and nearby hills. Please note the house is smoke free. The stairs to the first floor are typically steep as found in Victorian homes. There is a hand rail. Just letting you know. There are 2 steps from the path to the front door of the house. There is a hand rail. If you have mobility issues this might not be the ideal space for you. Happy to discuss before you book if this would help with your decision. If you wish to work from the dining room table as I do when I’m working at home you will find it light and the seats comfy. There is the garden room with a sofa if you wish to relax with a drink or book or your iPad. Don’t feel you have to be in your room. Or the garden itself. I work flexibly between home and the office in London so do message me as if I’m working at home an earlier check in may be possible. Feel free to ask questions so you can ensure the room meets your requirements for your stay.
Berkhamsted is in the Chilterns, leafy and green with great walking, cycling, sightseeing opportunities. The Ashridge Estate is close by. Walk along the tow path of the Grand Union Canal into town. Lovely selection of independent clothes shops and restaurants. Twice weekly market. Monthly farmers market. Several gyms. Local riding. • Caroline’s house was the most perfect place for my stay in Berkhamsted. I had a couple of questions and requests for my stay in advance and Caroline was completely accommodating with a quick response. The house is absolutely beautiful, it’s super clean and cosy, and it was just what I needed. The house is also within walking distance of the train station and local shops. Caroline herself is absolutely lovely and a pleasure to chat to. I have no reservations in recommending Caroline’s place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere that is also great value in Berkhamsted.

  • Trudi’s place is great and she’s a fantastic host. The personal touches - fresh fruit, milk, orange juice, flowers and more - were really appreciated. The West Wing is very welcoming and homely. We had a fantastic trip away with our toddler here and would like to stay again - thanks Trudi!

  • What an amazing place, new, clean, comfy, cosy home away from home. Trudi has really left nothing out you will be surprised as you walk the place how much thought and consideration Trudi has put in to what a visitor may need. The bed is also so so so comfy. Well definitely be back again.

    Numan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I have now stayed at Trudi's place a number of times and would highly recommend. She provides a real home from home. Unlike many Airbnbs it the really thoughtful touches (tea, coffee, biscuits, cooking oils, jams, shower gels, shampoo etc..) which really make a stay like this easy and welcoming. I would definitely return.

    Sherree2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful short stay at Trudi’s place. It had everything we needed and more! Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to family and friends. Highly recommend if visiting Harry Potter studios. Thank you!

Our recently converted early 20th century garage offers guests a charming, cosy place to stay with en suite shower and private entrance. Opening onto our garden, it is a bright and airy double-bed room (south facing) with a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. Outside, it has its own patio with contemporary deck chairs. We welcome everyone from regular Amersham visitors to those just passing through, from cyclists to wedding guests, and from business people to tourists.
Originally a Metroland cottage, our house is a stones-throw from Amersham on the Hill's town centre, on the leafy (but still residential) Chesham Bois side of the town. The old garage has been recently converted to create a wonderful little room with ensuite shower and its own separate entrance. The double bed is super comfortable (Hungarian goose down duvet) and facilities include towels, shampoo, hair-drier, fridge, kettle and tea making equipment. The shower room water is softened so we supply bottled drinking water as well.
Surrounded by woods and the glorious Chiltern Hills, Amersham is an ideal setting for those seeking a picturesque location within easy access of London. There are two Amershams, the historic Old Town, often used for filming and 'pub heavy' and Amersham on the Hill, where we are, with its coffee bars, restaurants, Waitrose and Marks and Spencer supermarkets. The Chilterns is a wonderful walking and cycling area. Amersham has a good local sports centre with indoor pool. Down the hill in Chesham you will find a great outdoor pool. Further afield in Berkhamsted is Britain's most beautiful cinema, the Rex. Watford, about 30 mins by car, is home to Harry Potter Studio. So, something for everybody.
  • A nice neat and super clean annexe, private and well thought out. Well located for the Chilterns.
