Simple bedroom, a double bed. Desk, chest of drawers, 2 rocking chair. The room is named Lilac Heaven because the owner has 13 varieties and 33 bushes of lilacs. These were planted in honor or her mother and grandmother. If you come between the end of April and the first of June you will see the blooming. All the pictures in the room are of her lilacs.
Full bathroom at top of stairs. This bathroom is not shared.
  • Look no further! Marilyn and Don are great hosts, with a great home, in a great location up the Rattlesnake. The private room and bathroom worked out great for my needs. Everything ended up being above what I expected. I would love to stay again some time if needed and I would definitely recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for short or long term. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

  • Marilyn's place is in a great location and easy to get to. Missoula is a wonderful city with much to do for all... I'd love to see Lilac Heaven during the Lilac season! I imagine the aroma is strong and satisfying for flower lovers! It's a quiet and lovely private spot to stay in while enjoying Missoula's essence!

  • Wonderful AirBnb. Bedroom was comfortable and spacious, location was great, and Marilyn a fantastic host.

    Audrey2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quaint spot in a fabulous location. Marilyn was very responsive and a great host. Room is located in a finished basement which was a little dark, but quiet and private. Little touches like a coffee machine and microwave were nice. Nothing super fancy but great for the value. Would stay again!

  • This is a gem. Cheryl is wonderful and the home is very cozy. I visited in the winter and it was the perfect home in between exploring the area. Make sure to communicate your arrival prior to leaving the airport because cell service can be very spotty. 10/10 would come back.

    Evan2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl's home was the perfect getaway - absolutely gorgeous both inside and out, and a perfect location for feeling tucked away in the mountains but having all the amenities in town a short drive away. If you're considering staying here, please do!! It's an opportunity you won't want to miss. I hope I'll be back some day!

This is a split-entry home. You and your guests have full access to the shared downstairs, the walk-out patio, the deck, and the shared kitchen upstairs. Once you enter the house, head downstairs. Queen of the Rattlesnake is the door on the right (SW corner, back of house) as you look to your left down the short hallway. The dead-end street offers quiet evenings, and convenient access to the Rattlesnake River and Mount Jumbo. This is not a "party house."
Two tandem bicycles are available for pedals downtown or up into the Rattlesnake wilderness (price negotiable).
Quiet. Private. Great access to river and mountain.
  • The room was just what I needed; a local clean room for a one night with a host that was accessible.

The upstairs of our 1890's farm house home will make you feel you are in an airy treehouse. In the spring you can hear the creek roaring nearby. In winter you can often sled down to Greenough Park. We are walking distance from great coffee & bakeries, the downtown and the University. Hiking trails are nearby. Good skiing both cross country and down-hill are within 45 minutes from the house. In the summer when the garden is full swing, and depending on when you are here, you might be able pick fresh raspberries, or peaches, or some Arugula for your salad. Chic is a bee keeper and will happily suit you up to visit the hives. He speaks Mandarin and French, Nancy speaks Spanish and we love hosting international guests as well as people from around the states. We'll supply you with locally roasted coffee and a French Press, and homemade jam and our own honey for your toast in the morning. We have 3 picnic tables around the place, a lovely back porch and gardens you are free to meander around. Beware the garden and bees - because of bears the fence is electrified, so be sure we’ve turned off the electric fence before going to pick peas ! And speaking of electricity, the upstairs is air conditioned and you control the settings. Please do try to remember to turn it off when you leave.
The Rattlesnake Valley is within the city limits, close to downtown, about a 20 minute walk away. In that amount of time you can walk to the U or up to the top of Waterworks Hill, which gives a lovely view of the city and surrounding mountains. One of the amazing things about Missoula is the amount of public space surrounding it. Almost all of the mountainous land around the city is dedicated “open space” and provides great walking / hiking.
  • We came to Missoula for the weekend and Nancy's place was perfect for the occasion. We found a cozy, welcoming home tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but close to downtown. Hope to come back soon.

Super clean and sanitized between guests. Dog friendly! Dedicated private entrance. Urban farmhouse with freshly renovated lower level (no full kitchen, but fridge / microwave / coffee). Well stocked grocery stores nearby with organic fare, and many restaurants offering takeout. Cozy place to ride out the apocalypse, or start off your Montana adventure.
The GEM ROOM is decorated with stones and minerals giving an idea of why they call this the Treasure State. Enjoy the game room with arcade setup, Wii, and seating area with comfortable fold out couch. Free coffee and use of the mini fridge for keeping drinks cool. No kitchen, but there is a basic food prep area with microwave. TV with Disney+, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and more. The MONTANA ROOM contains art, animal decorations, and found items from around the state creating a warm and inviting environment for your stay. This room also has a 28in 1080p TV with video streaming that can be used as a computer monitor with the accompanying desk, chair, and keyboard. Ready for work. High speed WiFi! We think you'll find the space cozy and enjoyable for your entire stay.
This is the coveted Rose Park neighborhood next to the University (.8mi). The closest major intersection is Higgins and South Ave. Most locals will know the original Dairy Queen as the anchor destination, just two blocks away. Also on the corner is the Zootown Super Stop with an excellent local beer selection as well as other convenience store needs.
  • Niles was quick to respond to questions. I really liked this location; we were easily able to do some nearby hikes such as the M loop. Everything was clean, stylish and great amenities. The bed I slept in was a bit older and creaky.

Experience the heart of downtown Missoula in this 1 bedroom apartment located on the Hip Strip! One of the best locations with bakeries, breweries, great restaurants and entertainment venues just steps away. Walk out your door onto the Clark Fork Riverfront Trail and watch the surfers on Brennan's wave. Caras Park, The Wilma, The Top Hat and Farmer's Market are all within a few blocks. Walk 8 minutes on the trail and explore the University of Montana campus.
The Penwell Building was originally an old hotel built in 1910. Its purpose was to serve passengers from the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad (the Milwaukee Road), which began passenger service in 1911.

Welcome to the Hohnstead! Enjoy effortless star gazing without even lifting your head from the comforts of your own bed. This unique double see-through A-frame design allows for unparalleled views of nature and wildlife and is PET FRIENDLY! Romantic private dining awaits you on your elevated deck, overlooking acres and acres of untouched mountain forest. Feel secluded and relaxed in an outdoor hot tub, while sipping on a glass of a refreshing beverage. Pet fee =$25 for entire stay
In order to reach seclusion, there is a moderate to steep height hill from the parking lot which takes you to your unit. It takes about 1.5 minutes to get to the unit. You should be sure-footed. More images of the property are available @TheHohnstead on Instagram. "The Blind" is OFF GRID and there are certain concessions that we make in order to live on such a beautiful piece of property as this: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictate your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone, but that is how we live out here OFF GRID.) b) Bathroom requires a short 1-minute walk UPHILL to an enclosed outdoor bathroom. There is a shared kitchen in the Commons Area, with a fridge, stove, etc as well as WIFI, local info, books, games and seating area for guests to enjoy. The night sky is full of stars like you've never seen before. Bring your camera to this picturesque spot! c) Being in the mountains, we share the space with beautifully Instagrammable animals such as deer, elk, and bear. All that said, bugs, flies and the occasional mouse might drop by to say hello too. We do our ABSOLUTE BEST (fly tape, traps, poison, ancient Blackfoot Indian chants) to make sure you won't see them. However, If even the prospect of the sight or sound of the occasional bug or mouse puts a burr under your saddle, we kindly suggest that you book a chain hotel in the big city of Missoula. Basically, this isn't your Grandad's Howard Johnson chain hotel experience, in this space and on this property you'll be reminded of the simplicity of life, the stillness of nature and the pureness of your routine is dictated by the sun.
Neighborhood ... what neighborhood? This is a family plot of 100+ acres. We do have two other Airbnbs strategically located on the property.
  • A great getaway!!

  • What a unique little gem. The Blind was charming, great for watching sunrises/sunsets. The hot tub was a real plus, it wasn’t too warm when we stayed so that really helped warm us up! Loved the sound of the rain against the room as we snuggled up and read a book with a cup of coffee. Jeff and Donna were amazing hosts!

    Tucker2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Words can not describe what a perfect weekend we had once we arrived at Alla and Garrett’s bnb. We were met by Donna and Jeff, the parents of these two. They were so fun and welcoming, they made us feel right at home! I could go on for days about how wonderful they were! The land and the blind bnb were out of this world. All and all very simple. We had been camping for the last 8 days so arriving at the blind was the perfect in between! The space is well built and stunning. You feel like you are camping but I’d definitely call it glamping! We were fortunate to be the only ones there mid week so we got to sit in the hot tub under the stars all night! It was MAGICAL! If you are laid back, love Mother Nature, amazing people, sleeping under the stars than this is the spot for you! If you are high maintenance and need full amenities than you should pick a hotel! Bathroom is shared with other bnbs. But everything feels very private! We will be back many more times. This is a true slice of mountain paradise!

    Alicia2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alla and Garrett are great hosts. Fast responses and always helpful! Their property is amazing and it was a great experience spending some time away from civilization! • I stayed at Marilyn's place with my dog for two nights, and it was really spacious yet cozy. It's super cold in Montana when I stayed, but the fireplace in the suite made it super warm and comfortable downstairs. There was also a kitchenette along with a Keurig machine that has everything you need. The bathroom is really spacious, and the bed has a nice firm mattress. There is also plenty of table space for meals and doing work. The wifi is super quick too! I also needed to do laundry, and Marilyn kindly allowed me to use their washer/dryer. If you have a dog, the side yard is great for a potty break, and there is a nice trail right down the road. Also, their dog Maxx is the absolute sweetest pup!!! I would highly recommend staying at Marilyn's home!

  • Wonderful unit that was perfect for a short stay. Due to travel plans we requested an earlier check-in and the host was very amenable to making that happen. Would definitely stay again. Marilyn was an extremely gracious host. Thanks!

Newly redecorated basement apartment in 1905 Craftsman home. Cuddle into the sleeping nook or enjoy the newly tiled shower and bath. Full (but compact) kitchen with Nespresso machine for an early morning pick me up. Comfortable (truly!) sleeper sofa if the nook is too cozy. Located within walking distance of all that Missoula has to offer.
This is a complete apartment in a 1905 Craftsman house with its own entrance. Has access to the fenced in backyard, free laundry right across the hall. Shared entrance to house in the back and stairway down to apartment. Within the apartment is a compact but full kitchen (no dishwasher), good sized living area with smart TV, sleeper sofa and bistro table. There is a cozy built in sleeping nook with touch activated lighting and bathroom with tiled shower. Coded entry to all the doors. This is a downstairs apartment in an old house so the steps are steeper than new construction. The house is located in the East Pine Street Historic district. It is an easy walk to downtown and the river on our beautiful tree lined boulevard. There you will find great restaurants and shopping. There are several breweries within walking distance; grab a growler from the apartment and check them out. The University and Griz Stadium (if you want to save the price of a ticket you can hear the games from the porch) are also a short walk in the other direction. Cross the back alley and you are at Black Coffee and Grist Bakery for a delicious cup of coffee and a loaf of bread. The house is a short walk to the Clark Fork with its trail system and parks. There is no shortage of activities, including fly fishing and surfing under the bridge if you are so inclined! Dogs are welcome if well behaved and able to be left alone. Please know your pooch and if he/she is anxious about being alone it might not be a good fit. This is a multi-unit house and barking dogs disturb everyone.
Walk to the university or all that downtown has to offer. Just a few minutes walk gets you to the river and the farmers market on Saturdays.

  • It was a little unclear to me that this was a shared living space with a shared entrance, although I do think some of this confusion was due to me not reading the listing in its entirety--so make sure you read the details! :) The house was clean and tidy. Check-in was a breeze. Communication was great. Other guests were friendly and respectful.

Lovely and new private unit containing a bedroom and bath, dorm fridge and microwave, coffee and tea station, private entrance and patio, and dedicated parking. Quiet, with a high-end memory-foam bed. Located within easy walking distance of downtown Missoula, concerts at the Wilma or Top Hat, or the University of Montana - and convenient to the Van Buren St. I-90 Exit.
[IF you need more room, a kitchen, or have more than 2 people, please see the listing for the 2-bedroom/3 bed apartment on the 3rd floor of this same building: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/21822854?adults=1&children=0&infants=0&location=Missoula%2C%20MT%2C%20United%20States&s=bwbT3EM8 ] March 11, 2020 update, re: Covid-19: I am currently doing all of the cleaning and have added the following steps to my usual routine: heater remote controls, light switches, door knobs, and key fobs are all being disinfected as I leave the room/the last step. Dishes and water carafes are being rinsed with a high-heat sanitizing bleach solution. All linens, including towels, bathrobes, bed sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases AND pillow protective covers, are being bleached and dried on high high (despite my preference for line drying). All blankets are being run through a 10-minute high-heat dry cycle (as recommended by the city's health-safety dept) - I'm doing the same with children's stuffed animals, when they are used. And then I'm turning to my usual careful cleaning. If there's anything you'd like me to add to this list, or know that I should add to this list, please let me know. Your quiet, window-filled unit is on the ground level of the duplex we built in the backyard of our 1927 Craftsman home. Studio contains a private entrance and is equipped with a high-end queen bed, Montana-interest books, maps and hiking guides, a coffee/tea station, microwave and refrigerator, reading chair, and dining table. There is a dedicated parking space just outside your door. We're 1 block from Missoula's river-front trails, 3 blocks from both downtown & the University of Montana campus, convenient to the I-90 interstate exchange, and within an easy walk of Missoula's best coffee shops, restaurants, theaters, and music venues.
We're in the heart of Missoula (almost literally; our historic home is a contributing resource within the National Register of Historic Places "Heart of Missoula" Historic District), at the confluence of the North Hills, Clark Fork River, Crazy Canyon, Mount Sentinel, and Mount Jumbo trail systems and of Rattlesnake Creek and the Clark Fork River. We're a stone's throw from campus - an easy walk over either of two pedestrian footbridges - and a short river walk to happy hour or concerts at the Adam's Center, Top Hat or Wilma, or ice cream at Big Dipper or Sweet Peaks. From a summer review: "We had a great stay. Downtown was really hoping last night. Apparently, 'First Friday' along with some outdoor event - music in park, raffle, booths, food trucks- and a beautiful sunset. We saw a fisherman catch a fish as he went by, a kayaker practicing near the park, and a guy surfing. Who knew????"
  • Great little place! Awesome location. Host was very nice and helpful.

  • Great spot to stay at it checking out Missoula. Place was very clean and check-in instructions were thorough.

  • Ann’s place was pretty simple to access once we figured out the proper address to navigate (our multiple maps apps were giving us different results, use the address in the listing description). The off-street parking space that is provided was super appreciated, since we were moving across states and had a lot of belongings in our vehicle. First impressions of the place were: stylish, cute, clean, smells nice! The bed is firm-but-comfortable memory foam (we slept almost 12 hours if that says anything!) We only stayed one night, but I did notice a lot of nice touches around the space that would make for a comfortable, longer stay. The location is really great for if you’re staying longer as well. We’ve stayed in Missoula before but never as close to downtown as this place, which would be very convenient for walking to dinner or drinks etc. The space had all we could’ve needed. There is a mini fridge, microwave and hot water kettle. A small dining table with two chairs for eating in the corner. Cups, bowls, cutting board, etc in the dining hutch but no real kitchen area. There is a very small TV so don’t expect much in that area (we don’t really watch TV so no problem there for us.) WiFi seemed sort of slow but we only tried streaming a movie for about 5 minutes and gave up since we were tired anyway. Bathroom felt clean and comfortable and there were robes for each of us (also slippers by the front door which I regrettingly didn’t notice until we were leaving.) Showerhead sits high on the wall, so if you’re tall that’s a plus. I loved the decor and feel of the room. It felt really cozy, with a sort of antique and eclectic style, yet modern and clean at the same time. My only complaint I could have was that the bath towels were super scratchy. Normally I don’t care too much about how a towel feels but these just had a sort of crunchy feeling, like they had been air dried indoors(?) Not a big deal in the scope of things, though. Ann was quick in communicating with us, and we also had plenty of privacy. Did not hear much from the tenants upstairs. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come here again!

  • Ann's studio was in the perfect location to either walk downtown or hit the core trail. Once you arrive there is really no reason to drive. You can enjoy drinks and dinner downtown with a simple stroll home. Well curated space, I felt right at home. Her style is exceptional.

  • This is a very sweet space, extremely convenient, with many thoughtful, generous touches. One of our better airbnb experiences. Would happily stay here again.

  • What a lovely suite. I only stayed one night but I would have been happy to stay longer if I needed. The space was beautifully decorated and super clean. Check in was so simple and Ann left some great tips about local places to visit. I would highly recommend.

As a young child, did you ever dream of staying in a shed seasonally dedicated to young plants and old tools? Me neither, but at the same time, I never dreamed of staying in a cement box next to other cement boxes, paying hotel prices. The juxtaposition of what we are offering is special: A unique place to enjoy days and nights with the trees and wildlife that make Montana "The last best place," all the while close to creature comforts like AC, TV, Internet, refrigeration, shared kitchen space
Located only 8 miles from Kettlehouse Amphitheater and 25 minutes from Missoula, the Shed is your getaway from it all. Wilderness - check! The serenity of the mountains - check! Rustling of the wind - check! Endless sky of stars - check! Fantastic views from your bed - check! This is why people come to Montana in the first place. We would know having hosted folks from as close as Missoula to as far as Scotland and all points in between. Unsurprisingly, no one wants to leave. What a compliment! Living in the mountains on such an insanely beautiful piece of land, we have to make a few concessions: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictates your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone). b) Bathroom requires a short 30-second walk to a quaint outhouse. c) Being in the mountains, we share the space with beautifully Instagrammable animals such as deer, elk, and bear. All that said, we also share it with less sexy bugs, flies and the occasional mouse. Some of them might even have the audacity to drop by to say hello too. We do our ABSOLUTE BEST (fly tape, traps, poison, ancient Blackfoot Indian chants) to make sure you won't see them. However, If even the prospect of the sight or sound of the occasional bug or mouse puts a burr under your saddle, we kindly suggest that you book a chain hotel in the big city of Missoula. d) There is a STRICT NO OUTDOOR FIRE on this property and mountain! We'd be pretty sad, maybe even as far as mad, if you burnt down western Montana :( e) Why the 4 day minimum? We look at The Shed as the perfect place for writers, thinkers, star gazer and dreamers to power down the engines and enjoy some peace and quite out in the mountains for an extended time at a bargain price. If 4 nights is too much of a commitment for you, we recommend looking at any of the 3 other units. The night sky is full of stars like you've never seen before. Bring your camera to this picturesque spot! Basically, this isn't your Grandad's Howard Johnson chain hotel experience, in this space and on this property you'll be reminded of the simplicity of life, the stillness of nature and the pureness of your routine being dictated by the sun. If "The Shed" is not your cup of Montana brew, then try one of our other two units: "The Shanty" https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16989109?s=51 "The A-frame" https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/22440493?s=51
Neighborhood? What neighborhood? This is a 100-acre family plot. It's you, me and the other three AirBnbs units spaced out on the property :)
  • Lovely space. The design of the shed is very cozy and cute. It’s a lovely property away from the busyness of the city. It’s a great place to stay. I would definitely come back

    Anthony2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I imagine it’s a difficult balance when hosting to make sure that you give the folks who have come to the middle of nowhere the space they need to unwind but also that you be open, available and gracious. Alla and Garrett make a great team. They share everything that is theirs with their guests, give plenty of space but are also quick to reply with suggestions above and beyond what they’ve included on their helpful list of things to do in the area. They are enthusiastic, open-minded and interesting people who really care about connecting with others. The spaces are well-designed, and the amenities (fridge shelf, plates and cutlery, towels, flashlight, etc.) are thoughtful. You can tell they’ve done this before and have taken feedback very seriously. Make sure you get a tour of the property; what they have built is amazing! I hope to come back and see them in a summer to come and stay in The Blind!

  • If you’re looking for a unique and charming experience, this is the place for you! Located within 30 minutes of Missoula on the hills about the Blackfoot, this provides an awesome opportunity to get more in touch with the nature beautiful Montana! • My stay at Flannery’s was brief, but a wonderful respite on my journey with my ‘little room with a view’ of the mountains. Tucked away in the woods yet convenient to town and the highway, Flannery’s home was the perfect place to stay. My room and other provisions were just as described in her posting, and I hope to return again someday to see what new transformations she’s made to the place! Thank you, again, Flannery, for accommodating me at the last minute and for all your little special touches of hospitality during my stay. You were a wonderful host!

    Sarah2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Flannery’s place is a dream. It’s super clean, very stylish, and very comfortable to be in. She has filled the guest rooms with thoughtful touches that make you feel welcome and cared for. The value is excellent. The location, although outside of town, is close to nature and very quiet. I would 10/10 recommend staying at Flannery’s place.

    Dalaney2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We liked Flannery's place and her hospitality so much, we booked another stay with her. Flannery does everything possible to make one feel comfortable and at home. Her place is located in a safe, quiet, peaceful area perfect for relaxing, but yet close to the city and all its amenities. We definitely recommend booking a stay at Flannery's home if you want accommodations in the Missoula, Montana area.

  • Amazing place for a couple. Out of the way from everything. Making your stay so very comfortable. Definition of “home away from home”. Amenities, cleanliness, atmosphere and hospitality was amazing and perfect!!!!

  • Very clean and lots of thoughtful touches! I would definitely stay again!

  • What a wonderful experience! The hosts went beyond what we expected. Beautiful room, everything was extremely clean. It was easy to know what to do, the hosts provided instructions and signs along with magazines and brochures for ideas of things to do around Missoula. Hosts provided great amenities and even left home made goodies for us! I would highly recommend quiet and beautiful surroundings.

  • This is our second stay at "The Stay". It didn't disappoint. Having stayed before, there was no stress around what we'd find, what was included, etc. Our son is in college there so having the washer/dryer was a HUGE benefit! Fresh eggs, fruit and creamer in the fridge, and the incredible baklava as usual. Highly recommend "The Stay" in Missoula!

    Ed2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I really loved this place! It is one of the best Airbnbs we have stayed at. It was very clean and they had lots of cute touches, like little signs and tiny snacks and breakfast foods. They even left some soaps for us to use for laundry. It was very kind! The place was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. They had everything we needed to cook a pasta dinner and steak. It was a great experience ! I definitely recommend it if you're visiting missoula !

  • What a great, cozy little space in the woods! Loved the hot tub and the river view. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

    Andrea2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really neat place on the water and in a state forest. Everything is exactly as depicted in the listing. Be sure to print and use Heather's well written directions for access to the property.

    Daniel2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little place for a weekend wedding in Seeley, thanks!

    Mike2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The "Guest Suite" at Elbow Lake, Montana was a delightful and authentic "Montana Experience," (from someone who lives in Montana!) Outstanding of the many amenities for me was the cozy and well-stocked patio/firepit with the scenic lake view and the sunset view from the funky and fun outdoor porch. Enjoyed seeing a visiting red fox and a gaggle of Canada geese fly-in. And the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! I hope to be able to stay again. Thank you!

    Michelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Make sure to follow her directions as they are key to finding her place. We lost signal on our way there and it was dark at night so it’s very easy to miss it. When you first make the turn to the property do not go to the farthest left path since it is a dead end and if you don’t have a bigger vehicle with good tires, you might not make it back to the top where you started since it has a very bumpy and steep road. It was a little spooky at night when we went to the hot tub but the night was nice and refreshing. When we woke up we looked at the backyard again to realize there was small lake in her backyard. Amazing views. We even got greeted by the dog last night. We have two labs at home and reminded us of our own pups.

    Anthony2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Heather's Airbnb description and photos are extremely accurate. The bed and mattress were extremely comfortable and we had an incredible night's sleep. The surroundings are very peaceful and serene. We enjoyed making dinner on the BBQ Grill and sitting on the deck having dinner and then sitting around a campfire enjoying the river and the beaver hut down below us. The kitchen supplies we're perfect for stay and the bathroom shower. We especially loved the outdoor sink for when we were grilling. Heather was a gracious host and very nice to talk to. Bottom line is we will definitely stay here again if we are heading to Seeley Lake.

    Our Last Sand Dollar2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spot! It's comfortable, quiet and remote, with a beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. There is a beaver dam nearby, lots of birds and also squirrels to watch. The road to the cabin is a little rough, but it's doable in a passenger vehicle (our Honda Fit was OK!) if you drive slowly. Heather was a very nice host!

Our private studio will comfortably sleep 3. It is in the heart of the Rattlesnake recreation corridor as well as 5 minutes from the UM and downtown by bus or car. Enjoy the great neighborhood market and cafe a block away during your stay.
Our basic studio apartment was newly constructed several years ago. We strive to keep it stocked with all of the comforts of home. Brew a fresh cup of coffee in your kitchen or walk to the neighborhood coffee shop just 1 block away. Between the queen bed and the full-sized futon in the living room the apartment can comfortably fit 3 adults or adults with children.
The Rattlesnake is the gateway to the Rattlesnake Wilderness and many outdoor activities. We are also convenient to the interstate and the downtown area. Rattlesnake Gardens, a fantastic neighborhood restaurant and grocery, is 1 block walk away. Their menu is posted on their facebook page. They also offer espresso, delicious daily lunch and dinner specials, breakfast specials on weekends, as well as some staples for your stay. We are located on a dead-end street across from a horse pasture. There is a great playground and walking path along the river 4 blocks from our home.
  • Rachel’s Place offers peace and quiet in a great location (close to downtown and activity venues.) The house was very clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed that there was no clock (other than the one on the microwave) which served as a good reminder to relax. Soaking in the hot tub under a full moon was a bonus! Great place, great hospitality and a great overall experience. Highly recommend and I plan to stay again.

    Will2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's great! Hot tub under the full moon, all things you need and if you need another pot, they lend us one. Very friendly and helpful.

    Malin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was lovely - lots of space. I enjoyed the hot tub under the stars, as promised. Rachel also gave me a ride into town, which was incredibly sweet of her. Great stay!

    Emma2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel was quick with her responses and accommodating. She went the extra mile to contact me and let me know of a few items that we left behind and even offered to send them to us. We were more than happy with our time spent in the space and would love to return! This is a perfect space for those looking to get away and enjoy some privacy (the hot tub is a plus too!).

They not only shared some food and treats with us over Thanksgiving, but went above and beyond to give my partner and I access to the infamous film "The River Runs Through" and purchased it for us on their account, with no hesitation. AMAZING place. We felt very cared for and respected.

Enjoy a gorgeous view of Mount Sentinel while you sip your morning coffee from the back deck of this charming home located in Missoula's university district. With just a ten minute walk to campus and a five minute drive to the heart of downtown, this is the perfect spot for your Missoula stay!
-Note this is a duplex style home- My home is open to people from all walks of life. The neighborhood is residential and quiet. Park off-street and enjoy the entire main floor. The only step is from the front walk to the door, and down to the deck in the back yard. The kitchen comes with a dual fuel range (gas stove top and electric oven), coffee pot and coffee, toaster, microwave, and dish washer. There is a gas grill on the back deck for guest use. Backyard is occasionally shared when I am in town.
A quiet residential neighborhood 5 blocks south of the University of Montana campus. Five minutes to downtown, with regular city bus service at the end of the block. Access to hiking is two blocks away onto Mt. Sentinel. Grocery stores are 5 minutes away and cafes within minutes.

  • This was a perfect place for my family while staying for basketball tournaments. It was very clean and q quiet neighborhood. Definitely will be keeping this cute place in mind when visiting Missoula again.

  • Great place for the price. The house is cozy and offers a nice view of MT. Sentinel.

    Francis2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We were only there for one night so we didn't use all the house had to offer! But the house was spotless, tidy and worked perfectly for what we were doing!

    Cassidy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable house in a great location for walking on the River trail or going to restaurants. Very quiet street so it was quiet at night. Would definitely stay again.

    Rachel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • I rented the space for guests attending my son’s wedding. They were very happy with the space and the value is outstanding. Dave is a great host and this location is terrific to get around Missoula. The guests were from Europe and had a great time hiking Mt. Sentinel, visiting the UM campus and wandering around downtown. They did not have a car so being able to explore on foot was key.

    Leslie2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • We felt right at home at Dave’s & Kailee’s place. It was located in a safe residential neighborhood with a mix of homes and apartments. We were glad to park on the street directly in front of the house. It was definitely a quiet location, and close enough for a quick drive to the University of Montana or downtown. The home is older, with its original hard wood floors, arches doorways and built-in drawers in the hallway. It is nicely furnished, with all the basic appliances including a gas stove and natural gas heat. Although not remodeled, the kitchen is roomy and functional. We enjoyed preparing our meals there and making use of the dishes & pans provided. Kailee was especially communicative and responsive by text. Although we understood she also lives on the premises, we had complete privacy, but could call upon her if necessary. Thanks to Kailee & Dave for offering such a comfortable and homey stay!

    Diana2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dave and Kailee’s place is amazing! We loved our stay here. It had every thing we needed and was very comfortable. The location is great too! We definitely want to stay here again for our future trips to Missoula.

Western Montana has a lot to offer year round. The lower Rattlesnake suite is situated in Missoula’s most active and vibrant neighborhood. The location is walking distance to downtown, the U, numerous restaurants and trails! The suite features large egress windows that bring in lots of light, a super comfy king bed, a TWO person shower/tub, and a simple kitchenette making the space perfect for short and explorative Missoula stays.
The private entry is on the side of the house and leads down a couple stairs to the cozy suite. The main living area is first with a dining area, kitchenette, and a lounging area with roku tv. Through the doorway off the living room is the large bedroom with en suite spacious bathroom.
The Rattlesnake neighborhood is one of the most desirable communities around Missoula. The location and proximity to trails and downtown leads to a very active community. From the suite you can walk downtown in 20 minutes or be at three different trailheads in 5. Our favorite coffee spot is a gradual 12 minute stroll away.

Cute home located in downtown Missoula, the Orange Street Bungalow is located within walking distance to all the best restaurants and hippest venues in Missoula, Montana. Just off the Orange Street exit, our home sits on the corner of Orange and Spruce, across the street from St. Patrick's Hospital. Built in the early twentieth century, this home has loads of charm, like wood floors, beautiful moldings, and lots of windows, but all the important "stuff" has been updated (kitchen and bath).
The Orange Street Bungalow is very warm and cozy. Built in the early twentieth century, the wood floors, moldings and built-ins lend charm to this small home. Both bedrooms have closets and mirrors. The twin room has a queen murphy bed, which your host can make-up for extra guests (See note about $15/night fee for more than 2 guests.). The bathroom has a tub and shower, lots of fluffy white towels, and various soaps and shampoos. The living room has plenty of comfy seating, with books and games for those days when you want to stay inside. An Amish fireplace sits in the corner, adding to the charm, and a writing desk with more books and writing and drawing materials. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready for your culinary explorations. Cookbooks, spices, coffee and tea are stocked for guests.
We are witihin walking distance to most of Missoula's hip spots - The Wilma Theater, Ogren Field, Shopping, Restaurants, the Clark Fork River, St. Patrick Hospital, St. Francis Xavier church, and more. Whether you've come to listen to music, shop the Hip Strip, or fish the rivers, we're right in the middle of it all. Because we're downtown and next to a major hospital, days can be noisy. Things quiet down in the evening, but traffic noise is not unusual.
  • A cozy little alcove for us while we were participating in the Big Sky Film Festival. Walking distance to everything that was part of the film festival and separated enough for us to feel like we had a "home" to return to after each day's activities. The room towards the front is a little bit noisier than the one inside because of the street noise but was only really noticeable during rush hour. The house was cozy and warm when we got in and even had little amenities like coffee beans, a grinder, a french press/coffeemaker. The kitchen was super cute with a little dining table. The living room was very welcoming and loved the extra throws that were everywhere. Thank you for the responsive hospitality and I can't wait to come back next year!

Welcome to our LandfillFree AirBnb. Our community house operates on a sustainable structure and towards a goal of being completely zero waste by 2018. Our theory is that we can also operate as an ethically profitable AirBnB, and we look forward to hosting you in this experimental design. There are two separate listings. Yours is the private room with a king bed on the left downstairs. This is not a "party house."
This is a private room downstairs on the left with a king bed. The room is uncarpeted with a window to the front yard. The split entry home allows for great interaction among owner, caretaker, and guests. The entire downstairs is yours for living, including the den, outside fire pit, community garden and workspace area. Wifi is free and included in pricing. The downstairs bathroom has a full bath and shower and is shared among all AirBnb guests. Our quiet hours are from 10pm to 6am. Working hours are 9am to 5pm. Guests are invited to engage as a community through all of the home during non-quiet hours, but are asked to be considerate of working hours. We insist that you do not bring alcohol onto the premises or return obviously intoxicated. Upstairs area is restricted during quiet hours. We look forward to your stay in our Landfillfree AirBnb. As a guest you are an important part to our sustainability, and we appreciate your contribution. Thank you for helping us encourage a sustainable future.
On a quiet dead-end street, the house is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of children and pets. Please be respectful of noise and interactions on the street. Experience the heart of downtown Missoula in this studio apartment located on the Hip Strip!

  • The building has its quirks (that comes with such a long history), but it's an amazing location and Kirk was super responsive and helpful. Some of the quirks include hearing neighbors movies from the hall (but not from the room!) , squeaky floors, needing to open windows to regulate room temperature as it's set for the entire building, and locking your door to leave for the bathroom. But it's an amazing location and a great price and was everything I needed.

More images of the property are available @TheHohnstead on Instagram. The A-Frame is OFF GRID and there are certain concessions that we make in order to live on such a beautiful piece of property as this: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictate your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone, but that is how we live out here OFF GRID.) b) The bathroom requires a short 1-minute walk to an enclosed outdoor bathroom. In the Commons Area there is a shared kitchen with a fridge, stove, oven, BBQ as well as WIFI, local info, games and books. Basically, this isn't your Grandad's Howard Johnson chain hotel experience, in this space and on this property you'll be reminded of the simplicity of life, the stillness of nature and the pureness of your routine being dictated by the sun.
What "neighborhood"? This is a family plot of 100+ acres, nestled in the forests and Mountains on Gold Creek and within 10 minutes of Blackfoot river. Talk about peace and quiet!
  • Loved our little A-frame cabin. We were there in September so it wasn't always sunny enough to get a warm shower, but we knew this was a possibility. Not a big deal - we ended up stopping at a KOA and paying a few $$ for a hot shower one night. Beautiful setting, wonderful hosts. Would absolutely visit again.

  • If you’re looking for the perfect weekend getaway this is the place to go!

    Gabe2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Alla and Garrett’s way to describe the location is not only hilarious but 100% easy to find. You’ll be safe here, we promise ;) We stayed at the A-frame and it was perfect! Donna greeted us (Garrett’s mom) and she was wonderful. We later on met Jeff (Garrett’s dad) and he was a hoot! He had ya laughing so much and we had great conversations with them. I have tendencies of looking at every detail and the tiny yet super comfy cabin was just perfect. They are so detailed and clean! We had so much fun on their property. Their hot tub was amazing too with those views. The roll out bed was perfect to cuddle with my hubby. They pay attention to detail which we loved! We cannot wait to come back in the spring. Thank you Donna and Jeff for being such wonderful guests! We felt as we were part of the family.

    Telsa2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! A wonderful retreat in nature, with all the comfort of a beautiful A-frame, perfect glamping experience.. and Alla and Garrett were super nice and welcoming!

  • We loved it here! The woods are so peaceful and beautiful, and it's a really great location. Cute and comfy a-frame, and the home-made honey from their bees was a great touch and was delicious in my coffee! Thanks!

    Kelly2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy, stylish cabin on a beautiful property! The owners are super friendly and accommodating, and the A Frame was full of thoughtful touches (good coffee, cooking equipment, etc.) to make our stay more enjoyable. Doesn’t get much better than this!

  • This place was awesome. Everything we expected and more. The hosts were super easy to get ahold of and went above and beyond showing us around and making us feel welcome. A true GEM!

No Cleaning Fee! A newly remodeled, fully furnished one bedroom house that is a ~10 minute walk to a local brewery, local coffee shop and downtown Missoula, and a short bike ride to the University. The house is brightly colored with lots of comfort and character.
This house is newly remodeled, fully furnished, complete with washer/dryer, partially fenced back yard, off street parking, internet access, TV and DVD. This house is very close to downtown, the University of Montana, and several trailheads (and totally awesome). It is fully furnished with all of the amenities of home! Kitchen is fully equipped with all the cooking utensils you might need. There is 1 bedroom with 1 full bed and a futon. Guests will have access to the entire house which includes washer and dryer, off street parking, and secluded back yard with a hammock. We live close by, right here in Missoula in case our guests need anything or have questions about the area.
  • One of the best Airbnb experiences and I have done many. Sparkling clean (as a microbiologist, I know!), prompt communication, flexible and kind hosts. The hosts accommodated me in the last minute and the place was welcoming and had everything we needed to feel calm and relaxed. The decor was outstanding almost in a Durango kind of bright color with wall hangings, beautiful memorabilia, and a reasonably stocked kitchen. Beautiful woodwork throughout the house. Located on the eastern side of Missoula (you do hear some traffic but that quickly quietens down in the evening). Highly recommended.

  • This place was exactly what I was looking for. Walking distance to downtown if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it and come back if I am ever in town.

    Josh2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying here. It was so much nicer than a hotel room. It was clean, easy to find, and so comfortable.

    Sarah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great night of deep sleep and wonderful stay in Missoula!

    Daniel2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED our stay at this cute little place. The house was super clean and cozy. The living room was perfect for watching a movie and the bed was extremely comfortable. When we travel we always bring our own pillows because your never know when you are going to end up with. The pillows were awesome! The bathroom is large and the hot water is never ending. The only thing we struggled with was getting the shower to turn on. (Dang Millennials) 🙂 all you have to do, is pull down the part where the water comes out. We will definitely be staying here anytime we are in Missoula.

Welcome to The Hohnstead! Relive summer camps of yore in this solar-powered and PET-FRIENDLY dwelling on the side of a remote mountain only 20 minutes outside of Missoula. Enjoy the calming sounds of nature and abundant wildlife while being amongst the mountains, rivers, and forests. An outdoor solar shower, toilet, and WiFi are just a 1-minute walk. "If you're thinking about staying here just book it! I promise you won't regret it. [We] will remember it for years to come!"- Emma
More images of the property are available @TheHohnstead on Instagram. This cabin is OFF GRID and there are certain concessions that we make in order to live on such a beautiful piece of property as this: a) Solar shower facility is available and depends largely on the weather conditions. It is outdoors, which means that THE SHOWER HEATS UP FROM THE SUN. You must be flexible as the sunshine and the weather dictate your ability to take a shower (we understand that it's not for everyone, but that is how we live out here OFF GRID.) b) Bathroom requires a short 1-minute walk to a quaint outhouse. It's well marked and solar lit at night. Your kitchenette is enough to fire up coffee and tea. The commons area has a shared kitchen with a fridge, stove, etc as well as WiFi, local info, games and books. c) Being in the mountains, we share the space with beautifully Instagrammable animals such as deer, elk, and bear. All that said, we also share it with bugs, flies and the occasional mouse. • Great hosts and beautiful location!

    Kara2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as Alla and Garrett said it would be. It was easy to get to despite being off-grid (but their directions to get to it were amazingly detailed and spot-on), and their amenities were as advertised. The view was gorgeous, the Shanty was cute and cozy, and Alla and Garrett provided their guests with all sorts of great information and made us feel super welcome. For those looking for something different from the usual hotel and beautifully nestled among the outdoors, I can’t recommend it enough!

    Kathryn2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Garrett and Alla are the best hosts ever! I've done my share of traveling and can say they are No. 1. They take lots of time showing you around, answering questions, giving tips on local attractions, making sure you are comfortable, and also just very interesting people to visit with. If you have the opportunity to stay at The Shanty, no need to think twice ... just book it! It will be a destination that will stand out in your memory forever. It is a reminder that simplicity really is better. The relaxation you experience at this property doesn't go away when you pull out of the driveway. We'll be back!

  • This place was magical. I appreciated this little place so much and will come back in the future. Our weekend here was more than we could have asked for. Alla and Garrett were so kind and were amazing hosts. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality.

We have a self sufficient guesthouse with bathroom and kitchenette located in a beautiful downtown neighborhood. Conveniently located just 6 blocks from the University or 7 blocks from downtown and Caras Park, it is an easy walk, but an even easier bike ride which we provide free of charge. The nearby hip strip hosts an abundance of local eateries and breweries. Just across the Higgins St Bridge will bring you to downtown. This is the perfect place to live like a local Missoulian.
There is a kitchenette with a two burner stove top, convection oven, microwave, and fridge. The back yard is fenced. We do have a dog who has access to the backyard from the main house via a doggie door. If you do bring a pet make sure he is friendly with other dogs and willing to share the back yard with our husky.
A great neighborhood to walk or ride in. Get a coffee at Le Petit or a beer at Southside Kettlehouse.
