  • We had an amazing time at the lake house! You can not see and appreciate the beauty of the property and the location until you get there. There is not even one thing we can complain about our weekend vacation. Lynne was amazing, she welcomed us at the property, navigated us and also lest us coffee/milk and fresh cake! I can't describe how clean was the property! Spotless! If you want a beautiful house on the lake, that is your place! Very quiet and relaxing place to be. Waking up in the morning all you hear is birds singing, and having your coffee outside watching the birds/ducks was just the best! Only an hour away from us, which would make this place our weekend holiday home from now on! Thank you again for the great hospitality. Martin

  • This is a lovely place to stay - you feel immediately calm. It's clean and spacious and well decorated. You feel isolated and like you're away from all the stress of the world. There's a real sense of homeliness and even though it's very much in the English countryside, you feel like you're on holiday abroad. The lake is beautiful and it was so nice watching the birds. Lynne left us tea and cake which was very tasty, and there is bath soak for a relaxing bath (may or may not have spent 3 hours in there). The bed is a big cosy cloud. We were desperate to stay another night and can't wait to come back!

    Albany2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The whole process of booking to stay was smooth. Lynne was very good at answering queries no matter how small they were. The location is fantastic and it is so private. The lake house itself was lovely and clean with all amenities you will need. We will be coming back again soon.

  • This was a really lovely cottage and perfect for a quiet getaway... It was beautifully clean and there were some really thoughtful touches, like fresh flowers in both the sitting room and bedroom. The kitchen was very well-equipped and easy to work out how to use everything as there was a really helpful instruction book to help us navigate our way round all the different things in the cottage (oven, internet, tv etc) The surrounding area is beautiful, offering some lovely countryside walks, with Church Stretton nearby with some lovely independent shops, and Shrewsbury not much further should you want to do anything a bit more mainstream. Although we didn't meet Rachel and Mark as they were away themselves, Rachel was very quick to reply to messages and any queries we had, and very helpful at all times. The local pub, right behind the cottage was very friendly and we had a lovely meal there one evening. The accommodation offered value for money and was as I said lovely in every aspect. In summary, we were really happy with everything and would definitely return...

  • Absolutely beautiful accommodation, hosts went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend this lovely place to stay.

  • Great spot in a beautiful village, fantastic communication with easy check in.

    Dawn2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Annexe is a beautiful space with absolutely everything you need for a cosy weekend away. It's an absolute bonus that the pub is next door, serving great value food (the best Sunday roast we've had in forever) and amazing ales, according to my husband! Mark and Rachel are lovely, accommodating hosts as is Hugo the dog! :)

    Laura2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location x

    Paul2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely little annexe. We cannot fault anything about it. We felt totally at home, relaxed and snug. Rachel kindly made the bed up into a double for us rather than two singles. The cottage had everything and more to make the stay enjoyable. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and perfect for getting away from it all. We cannot recommend this little holiday home enough....fantastic value for money!

    amanda2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great few days staying in Picklescott. While the roads to and from the village are narrow they are quiet and Rachel's place is a great location to use as a base for exploring the area. Clean, quiet, comfortable and well-equipped. Biggest downside to the apartment was the light on the radiator at night. But a bit of micropore and a business card solved that. Can't be bad if that is the only fault we can find! :-)

While we are fighting Coronavirus it will be self check in to protect all of us , I am only next door should you need anything at all. Beautiful cottage set in the Shropshire hills, a wonderful getaway from life’s stress. The cottage is a great spot for walkers.
Milk tea, coffee and porridge are provided
  • Really enjoyed my stay at The Getaway, very cosy, with food left out for us for breakfast, heating on for a literal warm reception, and menus left out as asked. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet weekend away.

    Lee2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed at this place and really liked it. It was just one night after long drive so the house provided us with plenty of rest and relaxation. The bed and sofa are nice and comfy and the linen was freshly clean. The kitchen and bathroom were also spotless. The main feature of the house were lounge windows that give you marvellous views day and night. It is a great find on the way to Snowdonia. The communication was super quick and straightforward: we were given all directions and offered self check in late at night. I would definitely recommend. Thank you for having us!

    Elena2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The location is fantastic, the view of the mountains, a unique park nearby, the house is thought out to the smallest detail, the settlement is very clear and welcoming!   The hostess took care of all the little things. A real break from the hustle and bustle

    Ilia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great, super comfy and clean. We had everything we needed for a night stay. The views are the best thing about this place, they are astonishing.

    Maria2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and great value stay. Dawn left a loaf, milk, eggs and butter for us to use at breakfast. The views of the surrounding hills and countryside were very impressive. Would recommend the Green Dragon pub 10 minutes drive for food and drink also. We would stay here again if in the area.

    Jack2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a very quiet & peaceful location, didn't see a single soul all weekend. Amazing views of the Shropshire hills. The cottage was very clean had lovely character and had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Great value, would definitely stay there again.

  • Me and my friends really loved Tom's cottage, an ideal space / size for a cozy weekend away with a partner of a few friends, we had some lovely evenings playing board games by the fire and cooking together. The cottage had everything that we needed, it's stylish, comfortable and is in a lovely area. We didn't had much opportunity to use the outside space due to bad weather but we had a lovely trip, enjoyed some short walk (due to the wind and rain), local pub visits and trips to nearby villages. The Bottle and Glass is a lovely pub, and the staff are very friendly. Tom was helpful through and we would love to stay again. A lovely pretty, quiet spot for relaxing few days in the countryside.

  • This was such a lovely place to stay! So cosy in winter and there are excellent walks nearby. Thanks for having us

  • Gorgeous place in idyllic location! Beautifully fitted out and kept, perfect for a “get away from it all” holiday with all creature comforts! Everything works very well, even the brilliant rain-showers, what a treat ( no temperature variation, no sudden drop of water pressure) ! We stayed over Christmas, the place was warm and cosy. Very stylish and beautiful without being too precious, just right. Excellent wood burner, plenty of logs. Lovely little terrace and firebowl, nice gardens, we imagined it being superb in summer. The Shropshire Hills and especially the area around Nest are very beautiful, plenty to do and see. NT’s Carding Mill Valley is vey close and perfect for walk and tea/cake after.

    Claudia2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

In pretty Picklescott village, next to a great pub, you have your own self-contained retreat which you can have all to yourself or share with friends or family. There are fantastic walks and cycle rides from the door and lovely towns nearby.
We are an accredited bunk house which offers small group accommodation. It is wheelchair friendly and offers a choice of beds. Comfortably sleeps 4, more if you don't mind being cosy. There are 4 beds in the bedroom and two in the lounge. We also have a travel cot if needed.
It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with endless wonderful walks from the door step and some fantastic and exciting bike rides. I completely love the village life and friendly pub. The village also offers other accommodation and we welcome anyone who wants to visit us. Sometimes there are fun things in the village hall and we have a simple but beautiful church just a mile up the lane.

  • Lucinda's place was very clean and cosy, and was well-enough equipped that we were able to make a roast dinner and apple crumble for six of us! Lucinda and Mike were really friendly and offered us fresh eggs in the morning. I highly recommend checking out the British Ironwork Centre, not far from here.

  • Great little apartment/bunkhouse - perfect for our ladies' reunion because we could each have our own beds! Very comfy and cosy, excellent value for money. Everything that we needed was provided and a few extra unexpected touches too (like a hairdryer, spa slippers and a charger cable for your phone!). Excellent location next door to the pub and within easy driving distance to lots of things to see and do.

  • Wren Cottage is a little gem, hidden in the Shropshire countryside! We felt very at-home and cosy there and would love to go back to explore more of what the county has to offer. We really enjoyed our walks along the Long Mynd and Stiperstones both with fabulous views. Shrewsbury is a great town to visit with a wonderful river-side walk, peaceful gardens and lots of history!

  • Would recommend this beautiful place to everybody and anybody, stunning house and location and the service from the hosts, Zanna (and Nick) was fantastic... The house and the rooms are very well appointed, especially the kitchen, Gordon Ramsey wouldn't have felt out of place working in that kitchen, the house was warm, impeccibly clean and is in a great location to slingshot in to the Shropshire Hills... We'll definitely be back in the future...

  • This place and the hosts meet every expectation and then some! We've stayed in some lovely places and this truly is up there as one we WILL be coming back to. It's exactly as described and just what we wanted - incredibly spacious but cozy and homely at the same time. Quietly nestled in the beautiful countryside, nice location with Church Stretton a short distance away, and the Cardigan Valley practically on your doorstep. Hosts were fantastic with communication, and provided those extra touches that just make a stay special. I've never given such a glowing review on here but this place and the hosts deserve it - I can't wait to go back!

    Phil2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here as part of two families with young children and had an excellent stay. Zanna is a great host and was good at communicating pre visit to ensure the rooms were set up for our needs. The house is absolutely beautiful in a stunning setting with absolutely everything you need and was very clean. We enjoyed exploring the many books, CDs and games that are there for you to enjoy. We’ll definitely be back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor space!

Location, location, location. It’s not that the Pottery holiday cottage isn’t lovely (our guests are very complimentary). It’s just that we know that the main reason so many guests return to the Pottery is simply because of where it is. The Pottery nestles next to the Longmynd, a 6,000 acre area of National Trust moorland. An area of outstanding natural beauty, the scenery and views are stunning. And you're just 5 minutes drive from the supermarket and amenities of Church Stretton.
  • Brilliant place for exploring the Shropshire countryside. Cosy and welcoming with plenty to do if the weather turns for the worse. Close to the village with great shops and eateries. Love to stay again. Highly recommended.

    Joanne2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A superb place for enjoying and exploring The Long Mynd and surrounding countryside. The Pottery is quiet, warm, clean, private and has excellent facilities.

    Roland2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy place :) surrounded by amazing scenery, some amazing walks right on the doorstep! Even though Mary and Mark are next door you have all the privacy you could need! Would definitely return!

    Grace2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, spacious and very clean. Mary was communicative without being intrusive, we had everything we needed and were even allowed to play in the treehouse. Simply lush.

    Aisling2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at The Pottery. We always enjoy the location - secluded, but close to the hills of Long Mynd - and the relative proximity to Church Stretton. Despite being up a rough track and adjacent to the hills there are good facilities, with phone data, TV and internet all available. There are full cooking facilities. Last year we did a roast Christmas dinner but this time had more modest meals. The place was kept toasty with a combination of central heating and a log burner. We would happily return again.

    Martin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quirky cottage in a beautiful setting. A great base for walking the Long Mynd and beyond

    Paul2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Pottery is a cosy comfortable cottage in a fabulous location. Great walks on the doorstep. Everything we needed. Loved it!

    Angela2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing setting with gorgeous views of the Shropshire hills! The dark skies made star-gazing possible and the log burner warmed us up afterwards! Very comfy bed, warm bathroom with heated towel-rail (bliss!) and well equipped kitchen with enough utensils to do home-cooking and entertain guests. So quiet we could only hear the birds and our wine being poured out......very relaxing break!

Birmingham is just an hour away and when the M6 flows, Manchester an hour and a half. Situated on the Welsh border, the Shropshire Marches offers beautiful walks over the Shropshire Hills, including Stiperstones and Long Mynd ' most with a pub along the way! The farm itself is one with the most activities available. You'll meet cattle, horses and Kerry Hill sheep on the Farm Tour, then see pheasant plus any of 70 fallow or red deer on a home-gown nature safari. The real star of this Feather Down farm is nature itself, the environment enhanced over a decade now, in the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme. Join for a wildlife walk to explore old hay meadows, the bluebell woods in spring, sunflowers in summer and scented wild garlic, as well as to spot a whole host of birds. The orchard and garden pool are overlooked by the delightfully rustic wainhouse barn built with the farm's own oak, ash and alder. It houses the showers and Farm Larder, which - by season - stocks the farm's own delectable venison, pigeon, pheasant and duck, as well as Kevan's ready-cooked meals. Both the barn, and the new summer house overlooking the hot tub and lake, make perfect venues for big social gatherings and feasts. Also new for 2015 is the farm coach (seating 16). Book with picnic to explore those Shropshire Hills and pubs on your Shropshire glamping farm holiday! Also bookable as extras: fly fishing lessons (equipment provided); pony craft and grooming, all about looking after a pony; arts & crafts sessions; and the hot tub, water trampoline, lake boating and wild swim water package. Beyond the farm are the Medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow. Unfortunately, pets can't come too as the farm is home to many birds. Please note: there is no electricity in this location

Welcome to Womerton Farm Bunkhouse, located less than four miles from Church Stretton. Nestling in the beautiful Shropshire Hills, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and providing easy access to the stunning Long Mynd. This is the ideal accommodation for small groups, families, and hikers and mountain bikers.
The bunkhouse is registered with the Independent Hostel Association, thus providing simple, clean, basic accommodation for guests happy to share their space with their travelling friends. Unfortunately, not disabled friendly due to steep stairs into the living space.
The bunkhouse is located 3 miles from Church Stretton, and 12 miles from the historic Shrewsbury and, foodie town, Ludlow. Nearest local pub is a mile and a half away, serving food and real ales. Church Stretton hosts shops, restaurants and cafes for all your requirements. Tesco, Sainsburys and Pizza delivery is available to the Bunkhouse, if organised by guests. For hikers, there are many fantastic walks straight from the farm (Local Map is OS217), including Jack Mytton Way, Caradoc, and Pole Bank, the highest point in Long Mynd. The area is also mountain bike friendly, with normal consideration to livestock and walkers.

Beautiful timber frame cottage with large windows overlooking Shropshire hills on all sides; close to excellent walks, pubs, shops and heritage; open plan kitchen/diner and living room with wood-burning stove.
The bright living space (kitchen/diner and living room) is upstairs where there are windows on all sides. It's a great place to rest, read and enjoy the views. There are two single beds in one bedroom and a double in the second larger bedroom, which also has ample space for a travel cot. There are two bathrooms, one en suite with proper shower, the other with a bath. Electricity is supplied by Good Energy, the UK's most reputable supplier of 100% renewable electricity. The heating is gas-fired. We have a wood-burning stove.
It's a great place to switch off from the town or city and take it easy. I feel restored and 'normal' after a few nights here. There are some strenuous walks and some easy walks. If you're feeling adventurous, there's plenty to see and do in Church Stretton and other towns nearby (Much Wenlock and Ludlow to name just two).
  • Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Wish we could have stayed longer but hope to be back.

  • We had a great couple of days at Tom’s place. The pictures don’t do it justice, it is such a lovely house with great views and everything you need for a cosy autumn escape. We will be back to explore more of the beautiful countryside which is right on the doorstep.

  • Tom’s place is delightful. The upstairs living space has great views and the open plan brings the family together. It’s a simple set up and yet has everything needed. Having 2 bathrooms makes life very easy. There are so many great walks right on the door step and Church Stretton is close by with everything you might need. If you want a quiet and easy place to stay, Tom’s place is ideal.

  • A charming cottage in an idyllic location, right at the foot of Caer Caradoc, with stunning views of Caradoc through the kitchen/dining room windows and of the Long Mynd through the sitting room window. A really relaxing place to come back to in the evening after a day in the hills. Very close to Church Stretton which has all the amenities needed. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Wonderful, quaint and charming place to stay. Great location for walking and a treat to return to at the end of the day. We are already planning a return visit.

  • The pictures don't do justice to the views that you get from every room of the cottage! We began 2019 by waking up to the views of beautiful hills and countryside - so it is a memorable start of the year. We loved our stay there and would love to come back for a longer time. Tom was extremely helpful and called me a day before to give me information about the directions, amenities in the cottage as well as the local information. The cottage was very well equipped and we had an extremely comfortable stay. Thank you Tom!

  • Fab accommodation on the side of Caradoc. Beautiful views from all the rooms. Loved the open plan lounge and kitchen.

  • We loved Tom's place. The photo's don't really do justice to what a great space the upstairs is - stylish, welcoming and historic, with gorgeous uninterrupted views. There is beautiful walking right on the doorstep, and Tom was a great host. Recommended.

Lovely downstairs bedroom with comfortable king size bed and ensuite shower room. Our home is a converted barn in the countryside midway between the lovely town of Shrewsbury and the gateway to the South Shropshire Hills at Church Stretton.
Beautiful converted barn in the countryside between Shrewsbury and Church Stretton with easy access to walking in the South Shropshire Hills or to the delightful medieval town of Shrewsbury.
We live in a very peaceful area surrounded by fields with views to the hills beyond and only a few neighbours and sheep for company. We love the friendliness of the people of Shropshire and all the beautiful countryside around us. With many great places to visit such as Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Ludlow and, of course, Shrewsbury, there is so much to do. Add to that some wonderful restaurants and you will have a great time in Shropshire.
  • Beautiful stay overnight in an immaculate old farm house near Shrewsbury. Everything was A1 including our great breakfast. Such welcoming and friendly hosts who I would recommend to anyone. Lovely quiet countryside - a fantastic stay.

  • Tina and Roger made us feel very welcome in their lovely Barn.

    Sarah2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • So enjoyed our two night stay at Tina and Rogers’ wonderful home. It proved to be a very comfortable base for exploring Shropshire and into Wales. Loved the rural setting and had the best two nights sleep in a long time. Tina and Roger were incredibly welcoming and we appreciated the little extra touches and availing ourselves of the local knowledge. Thank you so much for adding to our enjoyable weekend.

  • We stayed here whilst going to a wedding and it was perfect. Tina is a lovely host and was very friendly. I could not fault the room and decor.

  • A lovely converted barn with ensuite shower & bathroom in a perfect location, plenty of parking and easy to find. Tina & Roger were the perfect hosts for our short stay in the area.

    Lin2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house, great hosts and really nice breakfast. Tina and Roger were flexible with our arrival time and let us park our car on their drive before check in. Once we checked in, everything was great - really nice room down one side of the house. Meant that it was quite separate and felt almost like it's own holiday apartment. We had a great time, would recommend it a lot. In the morning we got a lovely breakfast - cereal, fruit salad and toast, with juice and tea/coffee. Nice treat! Only time we wouldn't recommend their house is if you don't have a car/bike - might be fairly obvious as it's in the countryside, but the house is quite a way from the nearest village, down some very narrow country lanes. Thanks a lot Tina and Roger!

    Joe2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a first rate experience from start to finish. Tina & Roger are wonderful hosts and the accommodation provided was excellent. Ten out of ten. Dave & Angela.
