We didn't stay at the place advertised, but at a nearby one due to some mix-up in the bookings. Emma was very kind, arranging and managed to prepare everything for us despite our very late booking. The place we finally stayed at was very nice, calm and confortable.

We only stayed with 3 adults but there's plenty of space for 6. Great location for visiting the Brecon Beacons. We did the four waterfalls walk, heartily recommended.

Four of us made a quick Last minute trip to Wales. Peter and Melissa we're extremely accommodating. The place was large and perfect for our needs. We wished we could have spent a week there. There is a washer and dryer, a large fridge, a shower and a wonderful deep tub. I would stay there again.

Peter is awesome! Great value and Pen Y Fan is only a nice 30 minute drive. A+

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is clean, quiet, spacious & great value. We would definitely stay again. We visited the area to do some hiking in Brecon Beacons. Peter's house is a 20 minute drive to Pen-Y-Fan and 10 minute drive to Merthyr Tydfil with taxis costing £5. Although, you do not need to leave the village of Abercanaid. There is a convenience store and wonderful country pub located 100 metres from the house.

Located a short walk/ride from the bike park and food shops, a very well kept house. Perfect for a weekend riding or hiking!

Great place for a mountain bike base. Perfect location for Bike Park Wales (cycling distance), Brecon Beacons, Afan and Cwmcarn. Modern, clean and tidy with everything you need, excellent shower after a days riding. Hose outside for cleaning bikes (didn't test as it didn't rain!), quiet location, off road parking for one car with access to the garden. Good communication from Hefina, very easy to check in. I would definitely recommend this property.

It's the perfect place to stay if you want to have a quiet weekend/holiday. The cottage is well equipped, warm and cosy.

A nice house. With a cosy feel. Comfortable bed, and kitchen stocked to make simple meals. Though there is a pub that serves food a sort walk away. I had some trouble with the heating whilst I stayed, the kitchen and bathroom radiators didn't work at all. And couldn't be fixed during my stay. However Nick did everything he could to make sure this didn't spoil my stay, which it didn't

We just finished our first weekend at Bike Park Wales and this place was a perfect spot for us (less than 10 minute drive to the mountain) There is space to clean bikes out back and an indoor bike store for when you go out to the local pub. The house was clean and spacious with a nice kitchen. Good communication throughout. We will be back again. Oh and Bike Park Wales is the best ride in the U.K. (So far)

A beautiful house. With a wonderful kitchen. Rachel met me to hand over keys and give me a tour. She also left a welcome box with Welsh cakes. The house is well heated and a really great place to stay. Highly recommended.

Brilliant house and perfect location for accessing bike park wales and the other bike trail centres of south wales. the house is well set up with it's own room out back to store bikes and work on them if needs be. the garden is perfect to catch the evening sunshine with a beer after a day on the trails. would highly recommend the house to anyone.

We had a nice stay in Merthyr Tydfil and the property was a good base for us to explore the area. It was the perfect size for our group (8) and I was really impressed with the communication and help we received from the contact number provided. E.g On arrival the house was freezing and the radiators weren't coming on. Within 15mins of the phone call Christopher from downstairs came round and sorted the boiler which was a great response. We were a bit dissapointed with the cleanliness of the property. The bed sheets in particular were dirty and appeared slept in. The outdoor bins were also full from a previous stay which meant we had no choice but to stack the rubbish beside them. With a bit more attention to the cleanliness, this would be a 5* review.

The people who live downstairs were very helpful and friendly. Shame they keep their dog outside all the time though as it is off putting when wanting to sit on the terrace. Area is not great but easy access to all surrounding areas had to offer. House was lovely but a few things could be updated.

The house was lovely on arrival, the people looking after us were friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the house was not up to scratch, especially as it was said it is cleaned by professionals. The bath mats and rugs were filthy, we had to remove them because they smelt bad and full of dust. The middle hob on the oven didn't work because it was full of grease. Recycling and rubbish was an issue as the bins were already full when we arrived. The worst thing though was the terrible smell from the dog wafting under the door from the flat below (the owns son lives below). We tried blocking the gaps with blankets and spent lots of money on air freshener and deodorisers to try get rid of the smell but nothing would work. It smelt as though the dog was doing its business in the room on the other side of the door. I know it sounds all bad, but the house itself is amazing and we had a great time. The house was decorated for xmas and had the bare essentials in the kitchen. The area wasn't great but as we only wanted somewhere to hang out as a family it wasn't an issue.

We had a lovely 3 days in Wales, the house was just right for our large group and the decking area and BBQ was perfect on an evening . Our stay couldn't have been any better and we were even helped out to park our 5 vw vans by the owner. Thank you

We loved the house! We were a group of 7 adults who spend the weekend in Merthyr for it's ease of access to both Cardiff (for the rugby) and Pen Y Fan for a hike in the Beacons. It was perfect for us. The kitchen is really well equipped which meant that we really just had to buy the food and drink we wanted (from a nearby 24hr tesco) as all of the utensils and condiments were already there. the house is spacious and light and great for dinner parties but also very cosy for settling down to watch a film with a glass of wine. The house is v close to the town's train station for access to Cardiff or bus station for buses to Swansea or Brecon. I was a bit concerned because some of the reviews had mentioned cleanliness but we found the house to be spotless. Fabulous weekend and I would highly recommend abstay here!

This house is amazing - the pictures aren't clever tricks of photography, it really looks like the photos show. Really light, very spacious and comfortable, it has great communal space to hang out in. The house is fully equipped with everything you might need. The town itself is not the most pleasant place, but you're only a short drive to the beautiful Brecon Beacons and other nice attractions so it doesn't really matter.

Lee and Angela were fantastic hosts! They are incredibly kind and welcoming. They contacted us before arrival to make sure that we would be able to find the home okay, and were very accommodating with our arrival time. Lee was home to greet us when we got there, and was very kind to show us to the gorgeous house and room. It looks exactly like the photos, but even more beautiful and sweet in person. They had a wonderful binder with lots of helpful tips for the area- where to eat, where to visit, etc. We got to visit with Lee the next morning and learn a bit more about the house, which we loved- and he also gave us some great breakfast ideas before we made our way into town. It was so wonderful to come home to this beautiful room each night that we were in Merthyr- we got a wonderful rest and felt very comfortable. We cannot wait to stay here again the next time that we visit Merthyr!

Lee and his wife Angela made me very welcome after a pretty bad journey. Both very friendly and chatty. The house itself is beautiful and it has a beautiful view over the hill opposite. The bedroom was as per the picture: Beautiful. They had been so kind as to leave some delicious Welsh cakes which didn't go to waste. Lee also pointed me in the right direction for some food in the evening. All very simple to get to. Basically its a beautiful room in a stunning house and Lee and Angela are very helpful and welcoming. Would i stay there again? A simple Yes. Its a great luxury starting point if you want to get out on the hills but have creature comforts afterwards.

I really enjoyed my stay here at Susan's apartment, she was very welcoming and provided us with everything we needed! I was even surprised with the mini toiletries there. The pictures do not do the place any justice however. The pictures look really standard but the flat itself was absolutely superb. Considering it used to be a basement They have done a really good job with it and the place looks fantastic. The shower was really nice too! Everything you needed for a perfect break. I would recommend this place to anyone who's passing by. Keep up the good job!

We had a really warm welcome from Susan who was incredibly flexible about our changing check in times. The accommodation was excellently kitted out with really comfy beds and a powerful shower. The kitchen was modern with everything you might need. We had a great nights sleep before a long walk the next day. Susan had provided essentials for us for breakfast and we felt right at home! The flat is perfect for a group of friends who want to explore the Welsh countryside with a good base. We could not have asked for more from our hosts. The flat was well kitted out with basic food supplies, towels, sheets and even toiletries. The outside space is perfect for BBQs.

Three of us got a very warm welcome from Susan and family for our 2 night stay at her lovely basement flat. Beds were really comfortable. We woke to an excellent hot shower on two beautiful sunny days. The modern kitchen was well-equipped for an early breakfast before a full day of exploring the nearby Brecon Beacons. Susan was on hand during our stay to point us to local restaurants and nearby supermarket. We felt very much at home and would certainly stay there again.

I sadly was unable to make this trip due to illness but joe was fantastic with communicating with one of my friends instead. My friends have told me they had a great time, the house is beautiful. It's very close to the Brecon Beacons so they enjoyed the hot tub after climbing pen y fan!

Really lovely place to stay - it really was a home from home. It had everything you could need. Hot tub was a real treat that welcomed us home after long days out walking.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Joe who was very welcoming and friendly. After showing us around the property he left us to enjoy our stay. The house has just recently been renovated to a high standard. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed including utensils, plates, glasses, etc. There were board games, DVDs and books which were great for our rainy evenings indoors. Towels and bedding also provided. We really felt at home! Unfortunately we didn't get to use the hot tub but what a great addition to the house. Highly recommended and would not hesitate to return in the future.

Brilliant Cottage! We used the Cottage as a base for a weeks mountain biking, and we cannot fault it! Hot tub was perfect each day after a long days riding, and the garage was the icing on the cake for maintaining the bikes. Bike Park Wales 5mins away. One of the best curry houses we've been to only 10mins walk, Frankie & Bennies/Nando's/Harvester all within 15min walk. We cannot wait to rebook it. Thanks Joe!

Everything what you expect from the listing, and even better. The cottage is very well equipped and super clean with lots of little extras to make your stay extra special (hot tub, board games, info leaflets and even bike tools and outside water hose). The area is great for bike enthusiasts and not only,we found lots of things to do. Would highly recommend!

My family and I had a great time at Debbie's cottage over the new year and Debbie made us felt very welcome. The cottage's location is very tranquil and offers a marvelous view the second you step outside. Inside, it is very spacious and has everything you'd need during for self-catering. It was also great to see live animals on the farm.

Perfect for Bike Park Wales. Had a great stay which unfortunately ended with a trip to A&E afer a mishap at Bike Park Wales. Lynne was a great host and really went the extra mile in ensuring I was okay - including collecting me from A&E at 11pm on a Saturday night! If you want a biking or walking getaway for the weekend - or even longer this is a great place to base yourself. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with a good decking space to clean/work on your bike.

'The Shed' is a large garage that has been converted into a comfortable (basic) space to stay. Lynne (and family) are very friendly/welcoming and make sure that you have everything you need. Breakfast is good (and plentiful), there is parking on the driveway and a nicely decked terrace with a great view that also makes for a good place to do any bike fixes after a day on the trails. It's 10 mins drive to Bike Park Wales and there is a great curry house (The Red Spice) 20 mins walk down the hill. There is also Sky+ and a TV! Note that you need to bring you own bedding, but towels are provided. We forgot bedding, but it shows how friendly this place is that Lynne dug out some spare duvets for us - nice touch! Next time I need accommodation near Merthyr Tydfil / Bike Park Wales, I'll definitely be staying here again.

Ursula is a great host, very thoughtful and caring; she did all possible to make my stay at the cottage pleasant during the week I was working in Merthyr Tydfil. The house is clean and tidy, with magnificent views from the pretty garden (I must go back in the summer to enjoy it fully!) and has been refurbished to high standards keeping original features. My room was quiet, clean, with a comfortable bed and a nice shower with good pressure hot water. The WiFi was working perfectly. All I needed and more. Thank you so much Ursula! :)
